The Trans Catalina trail, two harbors side.
This was a trek on the trans catalina trail from two harbors to lands end and a return on the north side of the shore line. I had planned to sleap neer silver peak but the winds were way too strong the entire weekend, so strong, they posted gail force winds and all ships where shut down, stranding about 300 on the two harbors side and who knows how many on the Avilon side! Upon return to the dock a day early to return home, I learned of this and with all camp grounds full, was forced to sleep in the park and try for a ship the fallowing day. many beutiful sights and some real cool visitors. I met a man named Nick and his lady, they were camping Parsons landing and reconized me from my parsons vid. he said they were there due to seeing my vid. Hello Nick, if you guys are watching this vid, leave a comment and say hello.

Trans-Catalina Trail - Prettiest Sunset EVER | A Thru-Hike Adventure
The Trans-Catalina Trail is a gorgeous thru-hike across and island just off the coast of Southern California. It is roughly 52 miles long (depending on which side routes you take) and is a very scenic, but grueling up-and-down, journey.
This was our 4th & 5th days of the adventure (for day 1 see link: OR day 2 see link: OR day 3 see link: The mileage on the final day was ~8.5 miles and we journeyed from Parsons Landing back to Two Harbors. After the heat and grueling journey, Oscar and I need the R&R before heading home. I did some bouldering around the surrounding beaches, some snorkeling in the coves, captured the most beautiful sunset in the history of sunsets, and maybe inhaled too much adult stuff (WINK WINK). I can not recommend this quiet campground enough. There are only 7 or 8 camp spots so it is very private and peaceful.
Day 5 starts at sea level (Parsons Landing Campground) and we ascend to maybe a maximum of 150' - 170' above the water as we wrapped around approximately 8.5 miles of countless coves before descending into Two Harbors. There we cleaned up at their public showers before catching the Catalina Express back to the mainland (San Pedro, CA).
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for watching!

Dialed-In with Don Knabe Episode 28: Catalina Island
As Supervisor of the Fourth District of Los Angeles County, I represent a large number of cities and unincorporated communities.
My district stretches from Marina del Rey to Long Beach out through Cerritos all the way to Diamond Bar—with 2.2 million residents in between.
But many people don’t know that I am the only County Supervisor in the state of California that represents an island—two of them actually.
Twenty-two miles off the California coast sits Catalina Island.
Home to nearly 4,000 residents, shops, fantastic restaurants and some of the most spectacular natural beauty—Catalina Island is Los Angeles County’s little piece of paradise.
So sit right back and you’ll hear from the Mayor of Catalina’s largest city, Avalon, and the President and CEO of the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
I hope you will enjoy the show!

catalina island adventure
so a while ago a friend invitied me to go to catalina island
Catalina, is a rocky island off the coast of the U.S. state of California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina. The island is 22 miles (35 km) long and 8 miles (13 km) across at its greatest width. The island is located about 22 miles (35 km) south-southwest of Los Angeles, California. The highest point on the island is 2,097 feet (639 m) Mt. Orizaba. Santa Catalina is part of the Channel Islands of California archipelago and lies within Los Angeles County.
Prior to the modern era, the island was inhabited by people of the Gabrielino/Tongva tribe, who, having had villages near present-day San Pedro and Playa del Rey, regularly traveled back and forth to Catalina for trade. The Tongva called the island Pimu or Pimugna and referred to themselves as the Pimugnans or Pimuvit. Archeological evidence shows Pimugnan settlement beginning in 7000 BC. The Pimugnans had settlements all over the island at one time or another, with their biggest villages being at the Isthmus and at present-day Avalon, Shark/Little Harbor, and Emerald Bay. The Pimugnans were renowned for their mining, working and trade of soapstone which was found in great quantities and varieties on the island. This material was in great demand and was traded along the California coast.
Since Catalina Island was never connected to mainland California, it was originally lacking in all terrestrial life. Any plants or animals that arrived on the island had to make their way across miles of open ocean. The original species to come to the island arrived by chance by blowing over on the wind, drifting or swimming over the ocean, or flown over by wing. Starting with the Native Americans and continuing today, animals and plants have also been introduced by humans, both intentionally or accidentally.
Catalina is home to at least fifty endemic species that occur naturally on the island and nowhere else in the world. This limited distribution of a species may result from the extinction of the original population on the mainland combined with its continued survival on the island where there may be fewer threats to its continued existence.
The island is also home to a number of non-native animals, notably including the American bison.
