Reunion of classmates, of schoolmates of long ago in Guimaras Island, where one of the graduates of Lakan Dula High School now pray and work in praise of His Name. Brother Eugene,OCSO also known as Rolando de la Cruz is a blessed member of the congregation formerly established by St. Benedict. It is also a chance for one of the pilgrims to meet her cousin, also a Trappist monk at the Trappist Abbey of the Blessed Virgin of the Philippines.
Guimaras is known internationally as the mango island of the Philippines. Its mango plantation stretches from one tip of the island to the other...Research and the conservation of the Guimaras mango goes on..
The pilgrim-retreaters: Bella Cipriano Tiglao, Cristina Nadurata, Aniceta Kilayko Javelona, Ana Candazo, Rey Lacsamana, Fe Lacsamana and Bro Eugene's former teacher, Ma. Agnes Urban.
The Trappist Abbey offers the retreat house for small or big delegations, for tourists like us in search of peace and quiet or just vacationing. Three meals a day is provided as well as meriendas in the morning and in the afternoon for a minimal donation to the needs of the Abbey.
Mango products of all kinds from Barquillos to jams are produced in the factory of the TRAPPISTs and carry the name TRAPPIST in the packages.
The Abbey is near several beach resorts that offer island hopping, snorkling as well as food and lodging.

Guimaras province is famous for their Mango plantation. This small town in Panay province has a lot to show. Trappist Monastery where monks lead the Mass is a beautiful place to visit. The goodies they sell at their gift shop are made by them.
This place is a pump boat away from Iloilo city.
To get there, from ortiz wharf in iloilo city you get to ride a pump boat to Jordan wharf guimaras. Its just 15 mins travel. Then from there, you ride a jeep going to trappist.

My #friends and I decided to spend the day in Guimaras Island, ate lot and visitied the #Trappist Monastery. Since it's #AllSaintsDay and #AllSoulsDay and also Halloween long weekend, we took this time to pray for our beloved departed, to also ask intercession to the saints and as well as pray for the living saints here on earth, our families. But of course, since we are together, we also took time to explore the new food stops and cafes in #Guimaras. A Cafe named from a #saint? How cool is that?!
