Wild Rose Country | My Trip
This quick film captures the best and most beautiful moments from my trip to Alberta, 2015. Unfortunately, while I was there, the smoke of wildfires from the States caused the air to be hazy. Luckily, it cleared up within a few days.
Places I visited:
CALGARY - Glenbow Museum, Winsport Olympic Park
BANFF - Lake Minnewanka, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Johnston Canyon, Sulphur Mountain, The Cave and Basin, The Whyte Museum
JASPER - Columbia Icefields, Mt. Athabasca, Athabasca Falls
EDMONTON - West Edmonton Mall (largest mall in North America!)
Music: Sunset Lover by Petit Biscuit
Alberta was beautiful, even with the smoke, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Going-to-the-Sun Road - Point of Interest: Siyeh Bend
Located on a prominent bend on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, Siyeh Bend shuttle stop marks the transition point between the higher elevation sub-albine vegetation and the forest of the East Side. Two popular day hikes depart from this location, Piegan Pass and Siyeh Pass. Watch the video to learn more.
EXPLORING THE WEST
Highlights from my trip out west to the inland northwest and Glacier National Park. From hiking in the most beautiful scenery I've seen in the US, to whitewater rafting, zip lining, parasailing, and cliff jumping, this was easily one of the best trips I've been on. If you liked the video please give it a thumbs up and I'll be working on some new videos so be sure to subscribe!

Glacier National Park Canada
Glacier National Park is one of seven national parks in British Columbia, and is part of a system of 43 parks and park reserves across Canada. Established in 1886, the park encompasses 1,349 km2 (521 sq mi), and includes a portion of the Columbia Mountains. It also contains the Rogers Pass National Historic Site.
The park's history is closely tied to two primary Canadian transportation routes, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), completed in 1885, and the Trans-Canada Highway, completed in 1963. The pass in the centre of the park eluded explorers until 1881. The railway brought with it tourism, the establishment of Glacier National Park and the construction of a popular alpine hotel. The heavy winter snows and steep, avalanche-prone valleys of the park have been a major obstacle to transportation, necessitating much railway engineering and avalanche control measures.
The park contains high peaks, large, active glaciers, and one of Canada's largest cave systems. Its dense forests support populations of large mammals, birds, and alpine species. The region is noted for its heavy snowfall. The park has an extensive network of trails, three campgrounds, and four backcountry huts and cabins. Due to the major transportation routes that bisect it, Glacier National Park sees large numbers of visitors.

Tyrell Museum @ Drumheller Alberta.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is a Canadian tourist attraction and a centre of palaeontological research known for its collection of more than 130,000 fossils.
Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park and was established in 1885. Located in the Rocky Mountains, 110–180 kilometres (68–112 mi) west of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Banff encompasses 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 sq mi)[2] of mountainous terrain, with numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. The Icefields Parkway extends from Lake Louise, connecting to Jasper National Park in the north. Provincial forests and Yoho National Park are neighbours to the west, while Kootenay National Park is located to the south and Kananaskis Country to the southeast. The main commercial centre of the park is the town of Banff, in the Bow River valley.
Waterton Lakes National Park is a national park located in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada. It borders Glacier National Park in Montana, United States. Waterton was the fourth Canadian national park, formed in 1895 and named after Waterton Lake, in turn after the Victorian naturalist and conservationist Charles Waterton. Its range is between the Rocky Mountains and prairies. This park contains 505 km2 (195 sq mi) of rugged mountains and wilderness.

Chief Mountain Expedition 2017
Every summer, I take a group up Chief Mountain, the most prominent mountain on the eastern Rocky front. This year, there were sixteen of us... which is more than any previous expedition. And as always, we pushed through the ordeal, got almost all of us to the summit, and had a lot of painful fun

Hiking in bear country: Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park
outdoortravelchannel.tv - Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park provides a peaceful home for species such as grizzly bears (Ursus arctos) and black bears (Ursus americanus), and it offers wonderful hiking opportunities for humans, for example, the hike to Avalanche Lake, featured in this video.
When hiking in bear country such as this,
- make noise (call out, clap, sing) to avoid surprising bears
- avoid hiking alone
- carry bear spray (and know how to use it)
- never approach a bear
- know the difference between grizzly bears and black bears and how to respond to each
For information on these parks, visit and
Also check out Glacier National Park's information on proper visitor behaviour in bear country:
The manager at Glacier Guides Lodge ( in West Glacier was kind enough to loan us bear spray during our stay, and the nearby Glacier Guides office sold us the same spray for a very reasonable price ($27) when we moved on.

Case Study || Montana Office Of Tourism - There's Nothing Here
More info:
Montana has nothing. Or so some people think. The Montana Office of Tourism conducted extensive research to better define the state's best attributes and determine which types of travelers are most likely to visit. We discovered that Montana's 'nothing' is indeed 'something' to the Geotraveler, an emerging target audience that appreciates authenticity and has the desire to get off the beaten path.
Mercury's work for the Montana Office of Tourism has been widely recognized as some of the most effective and innovative tourism marketing in the nation. The campaign was awarded a Silver Effie earlier this year—the first U.S. tourism destination to win an Effie since 2005. U.S. Travel Association, Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and Media Magazine have also recognized the campaign.
More importantly, it worked. Montana's national parks and hotels have reported record numbers compared to their peers during the campaign. According to Smith Travel Research, Montana had the nation's highest hotel occupancy rate in July 2010 and the second highest in August 2010. In addition, the Montana Office of Tourism exceeded all of its marketing objectives: awareness of Montana's advertising doubled nationwide and increased by 17 times in Chicago (one of its key markets); and those aware of Montana's advertising were more likely to associate Montana with its national parks and were as much as 2.5 times more likely to travel to Montana.
