10 Things to do in Gdańsk, Poland Travel Guide
Join us as we visit Gdańsk, Poland in this travel guide exploring the top attractions and best things to do in Gdansk (Danzig). As the final and northernmost destination we visit during our time in Poland this port city is one of the coolest places we've visited on this particular trip through Europe. From cobbled streets to posh museums to river cruises you'll find something for everyone here. One thing we noticed was that it was considerably more expensive in terms of accommodations and food compared with other Polish cities we've visited; however, it has charms that more than make up for it.

Our visit Gdańsk travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Gdańsk tourism brochure, Gdańsk itinerary or Gdańsk, Poland city tour.
10 Things to do in Gdańsk, Poland Travel Guide script:
After visiting the Basilica, we walked over to the main pedestrian street in Gdansk: Dluga, also known as Long Street. Unlike most Polish cities, Gdansk doesn’t have a main square, but this stretch of road acts as the equivalent with lots of vendors and performers along the way.
On the west end of Dluga (Dooga) we came across the Amber Museum, which sounded a little unusual, so we bought tickets and went up. Here we learned the history of Amber trade in the Baltic, and we also discovered that the tower that now houses the museum, was once a prison and torture chamber.
Not done with museums just yet, our next stop was the Historical Museum of the City of Gdansk. I think we spent more time staring at the ornate doorways, ceilings and staircases, than we did at the exhibit itself!
Here, we also saw the Medieval Crane, which was first mentioned in texts in 1367, and was at one point the biggest working crane in the world.
Next, it was all aboard the SS Sołdek, a Polish coal and ore freighter which is now a ship-museum.
And since we’re on the topic of food, we need to show you a milk bar we really enjoyed.
On our last day in Gdansk, we walked over to the European Solidarity Centre, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Old Town. The museum tells the story of Solidarity, a Polish trade union and civil resistance movement, founded in 1980 at the Lenin Shipyard. This was the first union not controlled by the communist party, and it’s a fascinating museum to learn a bit more about the history.
And that’s a wrap for our Gdansk travel guide. We hope you guys enjoyed this video and that it gave you a few ideas of things to do in Gdansk on you visit. You know the drill, if you have any other tips or suggestions to share with travellers, feel free to pop those in the comments section below. Happy travels and until next time!

Sopot Travel Guide | Day Trip from Gdansk, Poland
Come join us for our Sopot travel guide as we take a day trip from Gdansk to visit this popular seaside resort town located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea in Eastern Pomerania of northern Poland.
Although many come to stay overnight in hotels, doing a day-trip from a nearby city such as Gdańsk might be your best best considering Sopot (Zoppot) is a little pricey in terms of restaurants and accommodations.
How can you spend the perfect day visiting Sopot? Our recommendation would be to to walk along the Sopot pier (Molo w Sopocie), take a boat ride (Pirate ship) and then enjoy hanging out around the main square and market while spending plenty of time at the beach in between ice creams and a leisurely lunch.

Sopot Travel Guide | Day Trip from Gdansk, Poland travel video transcript:
Today we’re taking you on a day trip to Sopot, a town whose name we hadn’t heard before visiting Gdańsk. Sopot is a beautiful seaside town that sits on the shores of the Baltic Sea, and it proved to be the perfect little day trip. Come join us as we explore the town, take a boat tour of the harbour, and find out what makes this destination a summer hotspot.
Tickets in hand. That was super easy. We got our tickets they were only 3.80 Zloty. Uh-huh. Yeah. That is less than a Euro so we are not spending much to get there. Ready for our day trip and our train is pulling into the station right now.
We have made it to Sopot. And I think the main attraction here it the pier. Uh huh. Isn't it the largest in Northern Europe? The largest wooden pier in all of Europe. That is the main thing we're going to do here.
So we made it to the pier and we actually had to buy tickets. You have to pay to go walk on the pier which I didn't realize you had to do. So it is 8 Zloty per person. Got our tickets.
At 511.5 meters, this is the longest wooden pier in all of Europe, and it’s the one attraction you can’t miss when you visit Sopot.
And look here. There are swans at the beach.
It is a beautiful beach day, the sun is out, blue skies and we can hear seagulls squawking off in the distance. It is just nice to be at the beach oh my gosh. I can't remember the last time I went to the beach.
Alright, update from Sopot. We came here thinking maybe we'll spend a couple of hours or maybe half a day but we are really liking it here. Really liking it. This is going to be a full day excursion. Yeah, so instead of just putting this in the Gdansk city guide this is going to be its own vlog. Own vlog. Well as you would know already because you would be watching the vlog but anyways we made a decision at this moment just so you know. We like it.
So Sam found us a Pirate Ship. A proper pirate boat.
That means we are ready to set sails. So we made it on the boat like barely. It was leaving within five minutes from us buying the tickets.
And how much was it? Was it thirty five Zloty?
So today is a really nice day to be out on the water. The waters are so calm it looks like glass.
Now we're going to explore a little bit more of the pier. And we've heard rumors of fish pierogi and we're hungry.
The restaurant we had read about online doesn't have fish pierogies. We found it but they don't have it on the menu so maybe they used to at one point but they don't right now.
The good news is that they do have baked pierogi and we've been wanting to try those for a while so we've ordered a whole bunch of like savory ones and sweet ones and we also have soup coming and salad. So it is going to be a really good meal.
So we somehow stumbled on a bodybuilding competition. And everyone looks super tan. Now let's check out the market.
As you may have noticed there are more people sunbathing than there were people swimming and that is because the baltic sea is refreshing.
That was a very busy outing and I think the verdict is we both loved Sopot.
This is part of our Travel in Poland video series showcasing Polish food, Polish culture and Polish cuisine.

Gdansk, Poland - Travel Around The World | Top best places to visit in Gdansk
Top best places to visit in Gdansk
Gdansk is the largest city in the north of Poland and a principal seaport on the Baltic coast.
It used to be called Free City of Gdansk, today is called City of Freedom. The most central point of the city is the Neptune’s Fountain. Located by the entrance to Artus Court next to the Main Town Hall, ...it is at the crossroad of the Long Lane and the Long Market. This two streets are one of the most notable tourist attractions of the city. At the end of the Long Street there is the Golden Gate, and on the way there are a lot of interesting, colorful and important architecture like the Uphagen House and the Windows Theater. The Green Gate is on the other end of the Long Market. It used to be a merchant road and now it’s a main artery. Behind Green Gate flows Motlawa River, and along it stretches Long Bridge with picturesque brick buildings, apartments, moored vessels and the Crane, which acted both as a cargo port and a defensive gate.
In the heart of the Main Town lies a narrow, cobblestone, medieval St. Mary’s street. You can find there rich ornamentation and gargoyles, This is also a good place to buy souvenirs made of amber... At the end of St. Mary’s Street there is St. Mary’s Church which is supposedly the largest brick church in the world with a stunning 360-degree view of the city. The church was completed at the beginning of the sixteenth century. It can fit nearly 20,000 people. Inside is located an ancient astronomical clock from the fifteenth century.
In Gdansk there are several places of glory and a special remembrance particularly important for the local community, such sites include Polish Post Office Museum, Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970, Monument is located near European Solidarity Center and Gdansk’s Shipyard. And Westerplatte, a national memorial and museum site dedicated to Polish soldiers at the beginning of the Second World War.
One of the most famous person born in Gdansk was astronomer Jan Heweliusz. He made many interesting cosmic observations. Gdansk has also very modern stadium with more than 40 000 seats
and even if you are not a football fun it’s worth a visit.

Finding the top things to do in a city can be a challenge, in large cities across Poland like Gdansk it can be difficult to filter out all of the must see suggestions you read online or pamphlets. With our trop to Gdańsk City we decided to ask you guys for some things to do!
Poland itself has been amazing, but we wanted to travel a bit further and visit some spots we might not otherwise see in a typical city guide or on YouTube already.
Fortunately for us, Polska was playing in the football world cup so we ended up going super local and creating an afternoon of our own favourite things to do!... or drink, in Poland.

Poland Travel Vlog - Gdansk, Sopot & Gdynia - Rope Park, ATV, Gokart & More!
Very recently I was on vacation in Poland with my boyfriend and my family + my sister’s husband. My sister’s husband’s brother and his girlfriend also came to visit us for the weekend. For the most part we stayed in Gdansk, but we also visited Sopot and Gdynia, also called the Tricity. We had a lot of fun during that one week; we explored all three cities, we did some shopping, we went to an Kolibki Adventure Park in Gdynia where we went through a rope park and we drove ATV's, we went to Fun Arena in Gdansk where we drove Gokart's and tried the escape room, we ate a lot of good food and drank a lot of good drinks etc. We had a blast! Hope you enjoy this travel vlog.

LARGEST WOODEN PIER IN EUROPE! Sopot Beach Day from Gdansk | Poland Travel Vlog
The Polish seaside town of Sopot is home to the largest wooden pier in Europe, famous in Poland! The train from Gdansk to Sopot... ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
If you're looking for things to do in Poland don't miss Sopot! Sopot is a stunning spot by the Polish seaside, a quick train ride away from Gdansk and is well worth the visit. It's also home to the largest wooden pier in Europe, the Sopot Pier.
The Sopot beach and water isn't necessarily stunning, but the atmosphere in the little beach town is something you need to experience. Poland is a welcoming place with so much variety, even the difference from Gdansk to Sopot is night and day - as you can sort of pick up from our response in the travel vlog.
The pier isn't the largest in Europe in total, but the wooden element is the key point - there's no larger piers built our of wood specifically. Something we didn't expect to find in Poland either way.
