Diving with DPV in Spain, TEC DIVE
A diver propulsion vehicle (DPV), also known as an underwater propulsion vehicle or underwater scooter, or swimmer delivery vehicle (SDV) by armed forces, is an item of diving equipment used by scuba divers to increase range underwater. Range is restricted by the amount of breathing gas that can be carried, the rate at which that breathing gas is consumed, and the battery power of the DPV. Time limits imposed on the diver by decompression requirements may also limit safe range in practice. DPVs have recreational, scientific and military applications.
DPVs include a range of configurations from small, easily portable scooter units with a small range and low speed, to faired or enclosed units capable of carrying several divers longer distances at higher speeds.
The earliest recorded DPVs were used for military purposes during World War II, and were based on torpedo technology and components.
Limitations
DPV operation requires greater situational awareness than simply swimming. Operating a DPV requires simultaneous depth control, buoyancy adjustment, monitoring of breathing gas, and navigation. Buoyancy control is vital for diver safety: The DPV has the capacity to dynamically compensate for poor buoyancy control by thrust vectoring while moving, but on stopping the diver may turn out to be dangerously positively or negatively buoyant if adjustments were not made to suit the changes in depth while moving. If the diver does not control the DPV properly, a rapid ascent or descent under power can result in barotrauma or decompression sickness.[3] High speed travel in confined spaces, or limited visibility can increase the risk of impact with the surroundings at speeds where injury and damage are more likely. Many forms of smaller marine life are very well camouflaged or hide well and are only seen by divers who move very slowly and look carefully. Fast movement and noise can frighten some fish into hiding or swimming away, and the DPV is bulky and affects precise maneuvering at close quarters. The DPV occupies at least one hand while in use and may get in the way while performing precision work like macro photography. Since the diver is not kicking for propulsion, they will generally get colder due to lower physical activity and increased water flow. This can be compensated by appropriate thermal insulation. If the operation of the DPV is critical to exit from a long penetration dive, it is necessary to allow for alternative propulsion in case of a breakdown to ensure safe exit before the breathing gas runs out.

Tenerife excursions
Tenerife dive sites are very diverse. There are plenty of dive sites for recreational, technical and cave diving.
La Caleta is a small area with a dive site of the same name.
This place is interesting because you have a possibility to dive in one place, and swim out in another one.
If you like wreck diving, then welcome to Tabaiba.
Tabaiba wreck is located in the north of the island of Tenerife in the town Tabayba, A 40 minute journey from the tourist center of Las Americas.
Montaña Amarilla is one of the most amazing dive sites of Tenerife,
The translation of Montaña Amarilla means Yellow Mountain. It was named like this for the nearby mountain of golden color that is situated next to the dive site.
For those fanciers who like to swim with turtles, Tenerife has a great place - it's El Puertito
A small village El Puertito is situated in the south of Tenerife, very close to Playa Paraiso. To get here is quite simple.
The 3 best places to take a swim at on Tenerife!
All right I am trying to upload more consistent content, also more Informative/useful content to this channel. So this was my attempt, In this video you will see 3 really cool places to take a swim at on Tenerife, ranging from Natural pool to the beach bar, and all the way to a Cave where you will be able to jump into. As mentioned briefly in the video here are the locations for each place:
1: place Natural pool close to Los Abrigos, Piscinas Naturales Los Abrigos, its a bit rough terrain for both car and you, so bring good shoes and make sure car is insured. Also if you plan to swim through the cave, make sure you are familiar with snorkeling, the distance is 15 M. underwater, and the waves can give you quite a challenge, so do not hit your head on the way out. own responsibility, do not do anything stupid.
2: the second place is Playa Amarilla, its not too hard to find. type it into google maps, and you will find it for sure. In the lovely beach bar Mana Nui you can buy: drinks, snacks, and rent snorkeling gear, also you can buy a nice Mana Nui T-Shirt to remember the place by.
The only thing to keep in mind is all the Sea Urchins, So don't jump in the water, and really try not to put your feet down.
3: The cool Cave at the End of the Video is by far the coolest place, however also the hardest to find, initially navigate to Puerto de Santiago. There is another natural pool close by, but if you want to find the cave, you will have to walk along the cliff near the water. First, navigate to Puerto de Santiago, Hyperdine (local Canary Supermarket) then when you get there, go towards the beach as shown in the Video, then follow the cliffs until you arrive at the cave, it's about a 10-15 min climb/walk. Be Extremely careful at this cave, the water level can change quite quickly and can make it difficult to get out, also you can be thrown around inside the cave, so only go there when the water is calm.!
Hope this video is at least a little useful, I am trying to improve my video making skills, and there for content might not be high quality, but that is the only way for me to improve. Thank you!
Scuba Diving in Tenerife - UCCSAC Trip
15 members of UCCSAC made the trip to Tenerife for a weeks warm diving at the beginning of September 2014 with Aqua Marina Dive Centre. This video is just some of the hour and a half of footage I took that week. Dives were mostly in the 30m range with an abundance of life to be seen as well as impressive topography such as the image in the thumbnail ( Temperatures were 23 degrees Celsius for the week in early September.
As always for me, this video was shot on a GoPro Hero 3 Black edition @ 1080p and edited using GoPro Studio.
