California Highway 395 Hot Springs Road Trip
My friend and I packed our car and hit the road to explore a couple hot springs off highway 395. We headed to the small town of Bridgeport where we explored two hot springs and stayed the night in a covered wagon. We were back on the road after breakfast and headed down to Lee Vining where we kayaked at Mono Lake. We enjoyed a late lunch with live music and ended our trip at one final hot springs in Mammoth Lakes.

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, and cream-colored varieties. It is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave. In the latter, it can form stalactites, stalagmites, and other speleothems. It is frequently used in Italy and elsewhere as a building material.
Travertine is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters, and/or geothermally heated hot-springs.[1][2] Similar (but softer and extremely porous) deposits formed from ambient-temperature water are known as tufa.
ローマ近郊Tivoli地方のラテン語名Tiburに由来し、イタリア語でtravertino(フランス語でtravertin)と呼ぶ。
BODIE State Park & TRAVERTINE hot spring
Looking for the other California we drove off the beaten roads to visit the historic site Bodie State Park, a ghost mine town that took us back to the old days of the far west. Then after a hike near the Mono lake Sierras, we discovered a spectacular view while soaking in the Travertine hot spring where we felt free as birds. A wonderful experience!
