Foreigner Vs Indonesian Orangutan. ????????
I set off at 7 am for a trek through the Sumatran Jungle from Bukit Lawang. Along with Borneo, Sumatra is one of only two places in the world where you can find orangutans in their natural habitat.
The trek was organised through my hotel (Wisma Leuser Sibayak) at a rate of 45 euros. This included licensed guide, tracker, national park permits and food.
I usually prefer to go trek alone but it was not possible to do this one without a guide. It was also a 3-person minimum group but luckily I was able to join two ladies from the hotel to make 3.
To get into the jungle we had to pass though a rubber plantation which was interesting, to see how the rubber is slowly harvested from the trees. I drove through countless of rubber and palm oil plantations during my Sumatra trip so it was nice to see one up close and even bump into one of the farmers while he was working.
Orangutans can be difficult to find because they change their sleeping location every night, Each day they build a new nest in the trees.
The first group of orangutans we saw stayed high up in the trees, until the papa got annoyed by the large group of people below and came down to chase us.
It seemed when one group would find some orangutans it wouldn't be long until all the other groups found out and joined.
We were lucky to spot 13 orangutans during the trek Average is 6 or 7 and sometimes only 1 or 0 are found.
The trek lasted 6-7 hours and was fairly easy effort wise, even with my ankle injury from Sri Lanka not fully healed.
Back in Bukit Lawang, the fresh river water was the perfect way to relax after the orangutan trek.

Grandfather, father, and I agreed to take an adventure trip - Sekumpul Waterfall Trekking Tour. We explored the Hidden Village in north of Bali, discovered the most amazing hidden Waterfall ” Combination of 7 waterfalls”, and visit Baliage village ” Traditional Village where mostly original Balinese people stay here! We witnessed a Balinese old Bamboo House, plus the local seafood restaurant for lunch. We got to taste a traditional meal from the village.
With our experiene, we can say that you'll get to pass through several local peoples houses, a beautiful rice field, and many fruit trees around the village. Locals in these areas do like to grow trees. You'll be blown away from how beautiful their lands are! By the way, there are durian and rambutan trees everywhere. Huge spiders are everywhere, yet they do not bite you at all. You can pet them if you want to!
This was an amazing experience for all of us! In our opinion, you will be able to understand and get to see what Bali is all about!

Wild Orangutan I Bukit Lawang - Day 2 - Sumatra animals - Medan - Indonesia - Unforgettable
This is the second day in Bukit Lawang. It was so humbling to be so close to such a great creature. The orangutans here have a symbiotic relationship with the village. They get food and are used to human presence. Some may say this is unethical, however, at the rate at which animals are going extinct for all sort of reasons such as deforestation, hunting and pollution, this might be a way to make sure these animals survive.
Orangutans in wild Sumatra
the Gayo Highlands in the Aceh region of Sumatra is one of the last remaining habitats for wild Orangutans. This is a personal film about my february 2011 trip to this remote area. The first 10 days I spent along the west coast of Sumatra near Banda Aceh. The province of Aceh has the highest proportion of Muslims in Indonesia, mainly living according to Sharia customs and laws. Aceh was the closest point of land to the epicenter of the massive 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, which triggered a tsunami that devastated much of the western coast of the province, including part of the capital of Banda Aceh. In the village of Lokna, where 4 out of 5 people died when the huge tsunami wave hit land I did an interview with Alex Dery, who was one of the lucky survivors.
After busy days of surfing, snorkeling and practicing my shooting skills with wildlife, I took the hideous bus ride to the village of Kedah, right in the center of the Gayo Highlands in the Gunung Leuser Eco System, where I met my friend Stefan Reians. Together we stayed one week with Mr. Jaly, looking for Orangutans from dawn till dusk. After Stefan left Sumatra, I spent another week in the village of Ketambe, being guided by Johan and Abu. I can not thank theses guys enough! How can get in touch with them through this site:
On a technical note: I had the than brand new Pansonic Lumix GH-2 with the 14-140mm zoom with me. This lens gave me the equivalent of a 280mm telephoto reach which in itself is not enough for wild animals. The GH2 has an aditional reach cropped mode though that gives more than 700mm telephoto reach.
Of course this kind of reach makes handholding extremely tricky and even with my small Manfrotto 560B video tripod it is very hard to achieve stable shots. I really should have brought the heavier and smoother 701HD video tripod - but than, everything here is so strenuous that I can not see myself schlepping around more gear!
I also had the 7-14mm wide angle zoom and the 20mm pancake lens for the GH2 and also a GoPro HD and the iPhone G4 with me. Everything you see in this film is shot with either of this cameras and lens combinations...

Medan, Indonesia In 3 Minutes
Again, another short escape over the weekend (18 to 20 Nov 2016) and this time, I went to Medan, Indonesia. Medan is located in North Sumatra & it is the 3rd largest city after Jakarta & Surabaya. Arrived on Friday late evening and didn't manage to get any clips. The next day, woke up at 05:00 hours as a driver to pick us up at 06:30 hours to start our tour to Taman Simalen Resort. Enroute to the resort, first stop was at the Lumbini Natural Park where you can see the replica of Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmmar. It only opens at 09:00 hours and we were there 1 hour earlier so only able to snap some photos from the entrance. Taman Simalen Resort was 3 hours away and the main attraction was the Lake Toba. The locals called it Danau Toba. It's a large natural lake occupying the caldera of a supervolcano. The lake is about 100 kilometres long, 30 kilometres wide, and up to 505 metres (1,666 ft) deep & surface elevation of 900 metres. The sight was magnificent ( but it will be good if it wasn't that cloudy)! The best view in the resort to view the lake is to head to One Tree Hill as it is the highest viewing point in the resort.
After that it was lunch time & left Taman Simalem Resort to Sipisopiso Waterfall (about 1 hour drive) Due to time constraints, it was see, snap and shoot . After that another 90 minutes drive to Berastagi Fruit Market. You see lots of colourful fruits and vegetables that are locally farmed ( and for export too ) I am not sure if you notice those bright orange carrots as I'm pretty sure the ones I see back in Singapore aren't in such bright colors! Free sampling are available at most of the stalls & I must say the passion fruit was the best! Though it look pale but it tasted sweet (and cheap too!)
Later on another few hours on the MPV back to Medan city. It was pretty late and I was (very hungry). I managed to get some where to eat tips for local food which is in Brastagi Mall ( thanks to Christina) There is a supermarket in the mall and next to it a food court which serves local food. The food court called Kedai Pojok. For all the food clips you see, it cost only SGD 17.00 which was pretty cheap.
Lastly, the must do and eat in Medan is Ucok Durian ; it is a restaurant but they serve only DURIANS! Durian is a thorny husk like fruit and once opened, some likened the smell of the fruits as overnight socks with fouling cheese smell but I personally loved it a lot as it tastes sweet and creamy. Whether you like it or not, this is a must place to visit and must eat when you are in Medan. The locals paid about SGD 3.00 onwards per fruit ; I've paid mine for SGD 4.00 which was pretty reasonable (and cheap too!)
Also thanks for Charlene ( the girl in red sweater ) for getting the private driver in this trip , also to Christina for her foodie tips in Medan - terima kasih ( it means thank you in Indonesian) !

I Hitchhiked in SRI LANKA, to Thoppigala Rock. ????????
It's easy to drive or be driven directly to a destination, but figuring your own way there with public transport and the help of friendly locals can make for a fun adventure.
That's what I did to get from Batticaloa to Thoppigala and back.
Thoppigala was an important LTTE stronghold that was taken over by the army towards Sri Lanka's civil conflict. At the rock there's a museum that has some useful information about this.

Orangutans, Obesity, and Human Evolution – AMNH SciCafe
While wild orangutans in the rainforests of Borneo feed on a remarkable variety of plant life, they also endure unpredictable cycles of feast and famine. Erin Vogel of Rutgers University explains how research on these primates’ diet and health may help us to better understand the evolution of early human diets, as well as provide insight into today’s global obesity epidemic.
This SciCafe took place on June 6, 2018.

I Drove a Tuk-Tuk in SRI LANKA. Pidurangala Rock Vlog. ????????
The day after I hiked up Sigiriya Rock I was back outside looking for more adventures.
I had planned to reach the top of Pidurangala Rock for sunrise but could't get out of bed early enough. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as all the people who had hiked up to see the sunrise passed me in the opposite direction. I had the peak pretty much to myself.
On the way back to my hotel I my tuk-tuk driver let me drive his vehicle for a bit. Never a boring moment, there's always something fun to do in Sri Lanka.

SUMMARY
=======
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on 26 December, with an epicentre off the west coast of northern Sumatra. It was an undersea megathrust earthquake that registered a magnitude of 9.1–9.3 Mw, reaching a Mercalli intensity up to IX in certain areas. The earthquake was caused by a rupture along the fault between the Burma Plate and the Indian Plate.
A series of large tsunamis up to 30 metres (100 ft) high were created by the underwater seismic activity that became known collectively as the Boxing Day tsunamis. Communities along the surrounding coasts of the Indian Ocean were seriously affected, and the tsunamis killed an estimated 227,898 people in 14 countries. The Indonesian city of Banda Aceh reported the largest number of victims. The earthquake was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. The direct results caused major disruptions to living conditions and commerce particularly in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.
The earthquake was the third largest ever recorded and had the longest duration of faulting ever observed; between eight and ten minutes. It caused the planet to vibrate as much as 10 millimetres (0.4 inches), and it remotely triggered earthquakes as far away as Alaska. Its epicentre was between Simeulue and mainland Sumatra. The plight of the affected people and countries prompted a worldwide humanitarian response, with donations totaling more than US$14 billion. The event is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake.

OK, so I grew up listening to music like all of us did. We think it's just harmless entertainment. Music throughout the years wan't for the masses, though. It was a highly prized, esoteric secret only for the priest kings in their ceremonies.
Sometimes, especially when we're younger, we can listen to a song and it can change our whole life and life perception. Why? Is it that inspirational? Or are there components of mind control interlaced into the music to make you feel and react a certain way?
The short answer is yes.
Tune in to this awesome Podcast by Now You See TV (check them out if you haven't already). Pretty much the most cutting edge info out there.
Also Check out FOJC Radio for more with David Carrico - Truly this man is an encyclopedia of knowledge from Ancient History to yesterday's news..

NYSTV - Nostradamus Prophet of the Illuminati - David Carrico and the Midnight Ride - Multi Language
Nostradamus is the most well known prophet of the millennium because his predictions came true. What was the true source of his visions? How deeply ingrained in the occult was he? What was his medical background? What innovations did he use to fight the Black Plague that was rampant at the time? Was he a puppet working for the Illuminati? Or were they working for him?
Now the real question is, was Nostradamus just a psyops planned hundreds of years ago and the demonic forces are just controlling events as Nostradamus predicted?
Some deep insights into the life and times of Nostradamus with David Carrico of The Midnight Ride.
In depth information you'd have to watch like 8 documentaries about Nostradamus to get.
