Trees of Mystery - Northern California
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick, Regan, Maggie and Kate visited the Trees of Mystery in the coast redwoods of Northern California. This tourist attraction boasts unique coastal redwoods like the Family Tree that has twelve trees growing from a single trunk or the Elephant Tree, Candelabra Tree, Inferno Tree and Lightning Tree. The Kingdom of Trees trail is a walk through unspeakable beauty. You'll visit the famous Cathedral Tree where actual weddings are held. Stop by the Brotherhood Tree, the largest redwood in the park. Cheap Family Travel totally recommends a ride on the Sky Trail, the only six passenger forest gondola on the continent. The gondola gives you a birds eye view of the redwoods as you glide through the tree tops. At the Sky Trail summit, you can take in the magnificent view of the Klamath back country. We even saw a bald eagle!
A leisurely stroll will take you through the Trail of Tall Tales, where you will see giant redwood carvings that tell the legend of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe.
Make sure you leave time at the end of your day to visit the gift shop and the End of the Trail Native American Museum. This museum houses memorabilia from Native Americans all over the United States and is free to the public.
We loved our visit to Trees of Mystery, right down to our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the picnic area. Who knows, maybe one of us will get married under the Cathedral Tree someday!

Klamath Redwoods
That's the last sequel in my series about our birthday trip to the Grand Canyon last year. On our way home, we went by the Redwood Forest in Klamath County, California. We walked around on the ground, feeling like dwarfs between those giant Sequoia trees, and then took a ride with the cable car, going up a hill, overviewing the tree tops and catching a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean

Crescent City & Klamath, California on a Budget (127)
Highway 299 from Redding towards the pacific coast was too beautiful for words. Very winding and hilly, it still delivered epic views. We made our way to Crescent City and also discovered some local attractions.
We just loved the redwoods along the river in Jedediah Smith State Park. The crystal clear water made Fi want to go for a swim. The Pacific coast from Northern California all the way up through B.C. and to Alaska is breathtaking. It's at 2:15 in the video.

Klamath River overlook picnic area is a scenic pullout on a cliff overlooking the ocean, estuary, and some local sea lions! This can be seen at 8:02.

Demartin Beach Picnic Area, Klamath is a picturesque stop along highway 101 where you can have a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful beach. It can be seen at 8:25 in the video.

Stout Grove Trail is a hiking trail in a redwood forest that really makes you realize how small we really are. Much respect 300 year old redwoods. It can be seen at 11:00 in the video.

Battery Point Lighthouse is a picturesque working lighthouse and museum in Crescent City. It can be visited during low tide only. During high tide, the walking trails is under water! Check it in the video here 13:18.
