The Sundarbans is a vast forest in the coastal region of the Bay of Bengal; considered one of the natural wonders of the world, it was recognised in 1997 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bangladesh. Located in the delta region of Padma, Meghna and Brahmaputra river basins, this unique forest area extends across Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat districts of Bangladesh and South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal, India. The Sundarbans is the world's largest coastal mangrove forest, with an area of approximately 10,000 sq km; of which approximately 6,000 sq km is situated in Bangladesh and approximately 4,000 sq km in India. The Bangladeshi and Indian parts of the Sundarbans, while in fact adjacent parts of the uninterrupted landmark, have been listed separately in the UNESCO World Heritage List: as Sundarbans and Sundarban National Park respectively. The Sundarbans are a network of marine streams, mud shores and mangrove forests. The region is known to contain numerous species of animals, birds and reptiles, including Royal Bengal Tiger, Chital Deer, Crocodile and Snakes . On 21 May 1992, the Sundarbans was recognized as a Ramsar Site of ecological importance.

EXPLORING KOLKATA SOLO FOR THE FIRST TIME! | Kolkata Vlog | Kritika Goel
Started 2020 by visiting the charming city of Kolkata. This was my first time visiting Kolkata, and I had such an incredible time exploring the City of Joy solo. I spent three days sightseeing in Kolkata and vlogged the whole experience for you. Since it was my first time here and I came quite unprepared, I wasn’t sure what all to see, but I managed to cover as much as I could in three days. I visited Princep Ghat, Park Street, Victoria Memorial, Kumortuli, took a metro ride, took a ride in the iconic yellow taxi of Kolkata, saw the tram, and went on an incredible walking tour through the culturally diverse neighbourhoods of Kolkata. I also tried some amazing food, the famous Bengali sweets (mishti doi and sandesh), a few cafes and restaurants around Park street and my favourite: puchkas! Also, in case you didn’t know, Kolkata (or Calcutta) was the capital of India during the British rule, and in Kolkata really felt like I had been transported back in time! I loved the vibe of the city.

the journey between Dhaka and Kolkata for tourists from today,” Pranay Kanti Biswas, chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Transport Corporation (BIWTC), told The Independent yesterday.
Both Bangladesh and India have agreed to operate the cruise services. A cruise vessel will sail for Dhaka to Haldia, West Bengal, India on the same day, the BIWTC chairman said.
According to Biswas, two BIWTC vessels—MV Bangali and MV Madhumoti—are ready to operate in the coastal and inland waters between the two countries.
“We’ve already urged those interested to communicate with the departments concerned regarding the journey. Some government and BIWTC officials will travel on the maiden journey,” Biswas said.
The vessel will resume its journey towards the southern region. On its way, it will pass three major rivers—the Padma, Meghna and Jamuna—and touch Chandpur, Barishal and port town Mongla via Antihara before entering the Sundarbans on its way to Haldia, he added.
“The three-day one-way cost from Dhaka to Kolkata will be Tk. 15,000 for a family suite (two-person cabin), Tk 5,000 per passenger for the first class, Tk. 10,000 for the deluxe class (two persons), Tk 8,000 per passenger for the economy chair, and Tk. 1500 per passenger for deck or the shulov class,” the BIWTC chairman explained.
According to BIWTC sources, cruise operators have shown interest in using the Kolkata-Haldia-Raimongal-Chalna-Khulna-Mongla-Kawkhali-Barishal-Hizla-Chandpur-Narayanganj-Aricha-Sirajganj-Bahadurabad-Chilmari-Dhubri-Pandu-Shilghat (Assam) route, which stretches for 1,535km.

Amputated tiger's long journey from dense of Sundarban
A royal Bengal tiger was caged at Jharkhali area of Sundarban Tiger reserve. Later it was observed one of its back leg amputated by the poachers. The tiger was brought to Alipore Zoo of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) for treatment. Observing the wounds doctors considered the case critical but after a prolong treatment the majestic animal was healed up completely. But by the curse of poaching tiger lost its original home ie Sundarban forest forever. During treatment in the zoo it was named as raja, means the King. Later raja was settled to North Bengal's dakkhin Khaerbari tiger rehabilitation centre. Dakkhin Khaerbari is around 700 km away from Kolkata and situated in Alipurduar District.
Sub title - During treatment tiger is responding well.wounds are healing fast. The tiger is under our close observation.
