Old Photographs Of The Trongate Glasgow Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of The Trongate, one of the oldest streets in the city of Glasgow. Trongate begins at Glasgow Cross, where the Tolbooth Steeple is situated, being the original centre of medieval Glasgow, and goes westward changing its name to Argyle Street at Glassford Street. It was around the 1560s that the name Trongate first began to be used. The name comes by virtue of a weighbeam erected in the mid 16th century. The weigh beam was where all goods that were brought in from the River Clyde were weighed and taxed. Tron was the Norman French derived Scots term for weighing scales, the region became known as Trongate. The Tron church, built in the 17th century, with its distinctive steeple and clock is the street's best known landmark, and was substantially redeveloped in the 1980s as the Tron Theatre. Historically, in line with the rest of Glasgow's medieval area, Trongate fell into decline following the Industrial Revolution as the city expanded westwards.

Heart of Darkness (trailer)
Co-produced by Marche Teatro and Cast. Supported by Arts Council England, Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University and Theatre by the Lake.
Following the popular and critically acclaimed adaptation of Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, imitating the dog turn their attention to Joseph Conrad’s extraordinarily influential novel, Heart of Darkness.
Written more than 100 years ago, amid the optimism at the turn of a new century, it’s a tale of lies and brutal greed and of the dark heart which beats within us all. Now re-sited in a timeless Europe, in a forsaken landscape lost to the destructive lust for power, it emerges as a tale absolutely for our time.
This bold re-telling of Conrad’s classic is a visually rich, multi-layered work which fuses live performance with digital technology.
The performers enter the stage, into uncharted territory. They are adrift with a story that they know they must tell. As they wait for the turn of the tide, the story unfolds like an animated Cinemascope graphic novel on the hanging projections screens above their heads.
Their story is Conrad’s story, of the voyage into the perilous unknown. And, as we continue the journey, it becomes our story, exposing the dehumanisation that paved the way for the horrors of the 20th Century, and countless horrors yet to come.
The heart of darkness must be found. The story is impossible to tell, but it must be told.

There's two rules. First, the person you choose must be dead. And second, you have to be dressed up to get in.
It's Thursday night in the Prince Arthur and their latest theme night is in full swing.
Landlady Liz is run off her feet, whilst husband Barry struggles to get into his new costume. Elsewhere in London, a young woman from Edinburgh steps off a train, determined to make her dreams a reality.
Fast-paced and irreverent, Marie is a darkly comic new play inspired by the life of Mary Queen of Scots, but given a distinctly modern twist.

Welcome to Gary's world...
A thought provoking, emotionally fraught and brilliantly written play
Two families: one white and dysfunctional, the other black and aspiring. Gary and Lou were put into care as young children by their soldier father, Cannon, following the untimely death of their mother.
Ten years later, Cannon returns, expecting to reassemble his family around him. But he feels a stranger in this 'new' England of broken promises. And nothing could prepare him for the damage that abandonment and an inadequate care system has wreaked on his kids. He desperately tries to repair what has been broken, but is it all too little too late?
A unique collaboration between a male actor in his 20s and an established female writer/performer in her 60s, and is directed by multi-award-winning writer/director Ché Walker, whose credits include Been So Long (The Royal Court Theatre and The Young Vic London), The Frontline (The Globe, London) and His Greatness (Finborough Theatre, London).
First performed at the Finborough Theatre, London. Neil McPherson, Artistic Director.
Supported by the Arts Council England.

This captivating new verbatim play uncovers a cross-cultural story that began in early 80s Glasgow, long before the 'tug-of-love' tale that hit headlines in 2006, when a young girl left Scotland for Pakistan.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom - At a glance
Edinburgh is a feast of knockout views and dark alleyways, winding wynds and grand Georgian squares. Scotland’s capital city is cosmopolitan and classical, Glasgow's more elegant little sister. Cobbled streets and charming open spaces, views of the freezing Forth of Firth popping up into sight between rows of granite-grey tenements, Edinburgh ticks so many boxes. The geography is breathtaking; the city centre ringed by its primeval landscape, volcanic Arthur’s seat, the jagged Salisbury Crags and imposing Calton Hill. The sense of history is palpable, as the great Castle hangs heavy on the horizon and the Scott monument casts a spiky silhouette above Princes Street. It’s jam-packed with listed buildings, museums and galleries lining every street. But there's another side to Auld Reekie as well, a contemporary, forward-thinking energy. The tartan has been discarded and in its place is a shiny bright city. In art and architecture, food and theatre, Edinburgh excels. Think of the glisteningly brazen, notoriously over-budget Scottish Parliament or the docks in Leith with their industrial buildings and warehouses being transformed into sleek restaurants and buzzing bars. The city is pocket-sized but packs a big punch, perfect for a weekend jaunt. For those are traveling to Scotland, here is Edinburgh at a glance...

Craig Ferguson 6 June 2014 Ricky Gervais, Keb' Mo'
Follow: Craig Ferguson entered the world of late night comedy following a diverse and eclectic career that encompasses film, television and the stage. Since taking the helm of The Late Late Show with CRAIG FERGUSON on January 3, 2005, Ferguson has received an Emmy Award nomination and the show has set all-time viewer records, achieving the highest ratings since the show's inception in 1995. Additionally, the show won the prestigious Peabody Award in 2010. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson started in the entertainment industry as a drummer for some of the worst punk bands in the U.K., a profession he held for several years. Following his musical stint, he began bartending in a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Michael Boyd, the artistic director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow, who persuaded Ferguson to give acting a go. After several low paying acting gigs, Ferguson discovered he had a knack for comedy and was soon the star of his own BBC television show, The Ferguson Theory. Ferguson brought his act to America in 1995 to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the short-lived ABC comedy Maybe This Time. He then joined The Drew Carey Show, playing Drew Carey's boss, Nigel Wick, from 1996-2003. Ferguson wrote the feature films The Big Tease and Saving Grace. In 2003, he made his directorial debut with I'll Be There, which he also starred in and wrote. The film went on to receive the Audience Award for Best Film at the Aspen, Dallas and Valencia film festivals. He was also named Best New Director at the Napa Valley Film Festival. Ferguson's other film credits include Niagara Motel, Lenny the Wonder Dog, Prendimi l'anima, Life Without Dick, Chain of Fools and Born Romantic. Ferguson's animated credits include 'Gobber' in the popular film How to Train Your Dragon and 'Owl' in the feature Winnie the Pooh which hit theaters in July 2011. In April 2006, Ferguson debuted his first novel, Between The Bridge and The River, which became a critically acclaimed bestseller. In September 2009, Ferguson released his memoir American On Purpose, an achingly funny account of living the American dream as he journeyed from a small town in Scotland to the entertainment capital of the world. The book appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Ferguson was sworn in as a United States Citizen in February 2008. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons. His birth date is May 17.
