Located off the northwest coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture by the Sea of Japan, Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge and the stunning scenery around it have appeared in numerous commercials. One look and you'll see why. On a typically sunny day, the azure sea and the small islands floating on the horizon present just the kind of romantic, idyllic getaway travelers seek.
Cross the bridge by car to explore the island of Tsunoshima, including the resort there, Shiokaze Cobalt Blue Beach, and one of the oldest Western-style lighthouses in Japan. Tsunoshima may be a little out of the way, but it's well worth the effort to get there.

Shimonoseki, Japan - Kaikyō Yume Tower (2019)
The Kaikyō Yume Tower (海峡ゆめタワー) dominates the city of Shimonoseki and is the tallest tower in western Japan. Standing 153 metres tall, it was opened in July 1996. It forms a part of the Kaikyō Messe Shimonoseki building, which houses a conference centre and corporate offices.
The tower was designed by NTT Power and Building Facilities and built by Takenaka Corporation.
Upon paying an admission fee, tourists can visit an observation deck in the glass sphere at the top of the building for panoramic views over the city and the Kanmon Straits.

Shimonoseki (下関市 Shimonoseki-shi) is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Shimonoseki is the biggest city in Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is at the southwestern tip of Honshu, facing the Tsushima Strait and also Kitakyushu across the Kanmon Straits.
Nicknamed the Fugu Capital, it is known for the locally caught pufferfish and is the largest harvester of the pufferfish in Japan.
As of October 1, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 265,684 and a population density of 370 persons per km². The total area is 716.14 km².

Tsunoshima is about an hour + thirty minutes drive from the heart of Shimonoseki. It's a small island not far off of the main island of Honshu. We visited my second weekend in Japan back in August and it was absolutely lovely! It honestly made me think of Taeyeon's I MV lol

Very few know Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is very historical, full of stories of the samurai, the Genji and the Heike battles, the overthrow of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Choshu 5, onsen, fugu (balloon fish), Korean Town, and an easy, slow pace of life.
