Hong Kong Protesters Tear Down Chinese Flag and Burn it
Pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong took down and burnt a Chinese flag outside Tung Chung Swimming Pool on Sunday.
Damaging the Chinese flag can result in prosecution with a fine and imprisonment of up to three years in Hong Kong.
Protesters disrupted transport links over the weekend which saw some of the most violent clashes in three months of demonstrations.

DISCOVERY BAY HONG KONG FULL TOUR (ULTRA HD 4K) | LANTAU ISLAND | 愉景灣
#discoverybay #idiscoverybayhongkong #hongkong
Welcome to our full tour of Discovery Bay in Hong Kong in Lantau Island. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K so the video is crystal clear, as if you are actually here.
'Discovery Bay (DB, Chinese: 愉景灣) is a mixed, primarily residential, development consisting of upmarket residential development and private and public recreational facilities in Hong Kong. Located on Lantau Island, including the Tai Pak Bay and Yi Pak Bay, Discovery Bay covers a land area of 649 hectares and is a fully integrated resort style residential project comprising garden houses, low-, mid- and high-rise residential developments, a 27-hole golf course, a 262-berth marina, two clubhouses, the first private manmade beach in Hong Kong, international schools, two shopping malls and the largest oceanfront alfresco dining area in Hong Kong.
The 2016 census record 20,271 people living at DB; Over 50% of them are non-Chinese and DB is a sizeable community of expatriates from over fifty countries. DB is located 2 km west of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and approximately 12 km west from the nearest point on Hong Kong Island.[1]
As of April 2018, Discovery Bay consists of 15 residential development phases with properties ranging from garden houses to low-, mid- and high-rise. The development also features a 400-metre-long privately owned beach (accessible to the public), four private membership clubs including a golf club and a marina club and a public park (Siena Central Park).[2]
Discovery Bay is a key community in Lantau Island (after Tung Chung) and enjoys a very low plot ratio of 0.15. [3]Pets are allowed in Discovery Bay.[4]
Community life centres on two commercial hubs: DB Plaza and DB North Plaza. DB Plaza features a bus terminus, ferry pier, an open piazza, and a range of shops, medical and dental clinics, and a veterinary surgery. The two plazas each have a supermarket and a range of international themed restaurants, bars and food outlets.
Amenities include: two schools, a beach at Tai Pak Bay; four private membership recreational clubs including a 27-hole golf course and a marina (where some people live on house boats); natural streams and rock pools: a bicycle track alongside Discovery Bay Road; an astro-turf football pitch; basketball courts; children's playgrounds scattered around the developments and hiking paths leading to other parts of Lantau Island - including the Trappist Haven Monastery and Mui Wo. A Community Centre / Indoor Recreation Centre was finally completed in 2007, seven years after the extended development in Yi Pak was approved. It was handed over to government-appointed operators in April 2009.
DB is a fifteen-minute to twenty-five-minute bus ride from Tung Chung.
Club Siena, Discovery Bay
Clubs in DB
(All are private clubs with separate membership fees)
Discovery Bay Recreation Club and Club Siena (DBRC)
Discovery Bay Marina Club (DBMC)
Discovery Bay Golf Club (DBGC)
Housing units in DB used to be sold with a DBRC debenture (and later a right to join the club), although residents can choose whether to be active members and pay a monthly subscription. DBRC members are automatically members of Club Siena. Debentures of DBMC and DBGC are traded in the secondary market.
The Marina opens into Nim Shue Wan, a bay to the south of DB. There is also a public landing stage for cargo boats and privately operated kat-to ferries that link DB to nearby Peng Chau Island and the Trappist Haven Monastery pier about 2 km to the south. There are also Kai-to services connecting to Mui Wo (Silvermine Bay)..
Residents also run activities and groups. These include the Lantau Boat Club (a catamaran sailing and outrigger canoe club), Discovery Bay Pirates Rugby Club, and numerous religious services.
Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong
The resort hotel on the waterfront of Yi Pak opened in March 2013 complements the resort lifestyle of Discovery Bay. The 325-room resort features an outdoor swimming pool, gym, all-day dining, Spa Botanica, and 1,300 square metres of function space comprising a 700 square metres ballroom and 11 function rooms; all available to suit every need and stay for leisure, meeting, incentive, event, wedding or a special celebration. Opening alongside the hotel is the first-ever seaside glass wedding chapel in Hong Kong. The glamorous white chapel is 16-metre tall, offering a capacity of 100 guests and a sea view as backdrop for weddings.'

Mui Wo (Plum Nest) was Lantau's largest settlement before Tung Chung was born. Today a third of Lantau's population still lives in this sleepy town and its surrounding hamlets
The walk to the temple, cave and waterfall from Mui Wo is about 3km. Walk westward along Mui Wo Rural Committee Rd and then following the marked path north.

KOWLOON PARK IN TSIM SHA TSUI
It comes as a surprise to some visitors to Hong Kong that the region has actually great green spaces in between and surrounding the built up areas. Even in built up commercial and business districts there are great parks, on Hong Kong Island the Victoria Park is the lung of the city, while in Kowloon there are several parks but the most important to Tsim Sha Tsui is Kowloon Park.
The district is lucky to have this large green space due to an accident of history. The prime space right next to the busy Nathan Road was originally a British Army Barracks, from 1861 it was Whitfield Barracks and stayed a reserved space for over a hundred years.
Since the redevelopment in 1970 it has been a public park, Kowloon Park, and it has retained a few interesting souvenirs of it's days as an Army place including historic buildings including several buildings and a gun emplacements that previously looked out over Stonecutters Channel as part of the defense of Hong Kong has been turned into a children's playground.
Other facilities include a swimming pool, aviary (though this may be closed when there are Bird Flu fears), Maze Garden Sculpture Walk and Sculpture Garden.
The park is open every day from 6:30am until late in the evening.
It is mostly easily accessed via the entrance next to the Kowloon Mosque, on Nathan Road just next to the MTR.

Official Trailer - 75km Round Lantau Island Swim Challenge
From Wednesday 29th October – Sunday 2nd November 2014 Hong Kong triathlete and marathon runner Bruce Pye and his coach, four-year DB resident, founder of the coaching company beyond the line - endurance coaching & consulting, and also an experienced swimmer Olivier Baillet, will embark on a 75km swim along the coastline of Lantau Island to raise awareness of the impact of plastics on the South China Sea and its environs. Bruce and Olivier will cover approximately 15km each day. The event will start from Tai Pak beach in Discovery Bay on Wednesday 29th October, with Discovery Bay students participating in his sendoff. Bruce and Olivier's route will take an anticlockwise direction with scheduled overnight stops at Luk Keng Bay, Tung Chung Bay, Fan Lau Tung Wan and Tong Fuk before he returns at the end of Day 5 to Discovery Bay.
Following the completion of each leg, Bruce and Olivier will participate in a beach cleanup alongside local schools, clubs, corporates and interested members of the public. The goals of this adventure are to: raise awareness of the issue of plastics in the South China Sea, undertake research looking at the plastic load in the South China Sea, and raise money for Plastic Free Sea’s Education and Research Sea Classroom which will be launched later this year.
The targeted beaches are: Luk Keng Bay (near Sunny Bay MTR), Tung Chung Bay, Fan Lau (south-western tip of Lantau Island) and Shui Hau Wan (near Tong Fuk). Bruce and Olivier will repeat the process of swimming and doing beach cleanups until 2 November, when a celebration will be held to present the ceremonial cheque for the funds raised so far from the event. All the proceeds will go to Plastic Free Seas (plasticfreeseas.org), a charity dedicated to educating children on plastic marine pollution. Fundraising will continue until the end of November.
Some local celebrities are excited to be supporting Bruce, Olivier Baillet and Plastic Free Seas during this event. Saturday’s beach cleanup in South Lantau will see artist Liina Klauss (liinaklauss.blogspot.hk) creating an installation with rubbish collected on the beach, and well-know French-Japanese environmentalist Cesar Herada will be trialing Protei (scoutbots.com), his sailing robot at Tai Pak beach on Sunday afternoon, to coincide with Bruce and Olivier's finish.
When asked for his reaction to the highly positive feedback he has received from the public, an excited Bruce replied, “Plastic Free Seas is a wonderful organisation, teaching our children about an issue that has always been very close to my heart. I’ve always wanted to give back and this event is exactly that. We need to make sure that the world we leave behind for our children is in a better state than when we entered it.”

Hong Kong protesters set fire to barricades and block roads to Hong Kong International Airport
홍콩시위대, '공항 마비' 시도…中 오성홍기 불태우기도
Clashes between Hong Kong police and pro-democracy demonstrators continued over the weekend,... with protesters blocking travel routes to Hong Kong International Airport.
For more on this and other news around the world, let's turn to our Kim Da-mi.
Da-mi, give us the latest.
Hong Kong protesters moved their fight for greater democracy to Hong Kong International airport on Sunday to draw global attention to their struggle.
Thousands of protesters set barricades on fire and blocked roads and public transport links to the airport.
Twenty-five flights were cancelled.
A group of protesters also pulled down a Chinese flag outside a municipal swimming pool and burned it,... in a challenge to the authorities.
Some even wrote 'CHINAZI' at a bus stop,...implying the current Chinese government is similar to Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler.
Several hundred people also gathered outside the British Consulate in Hong Kong, waving Union Jack flags and chanting God save the Queen.
Despite Hong Kong activist leaders being arrested,... the pro-democracy movement only seems to be growing.
Students from 10 Hong Kong universities plan to go on a unified class boycott for two weeks starting on Monday.
A general strike participated in by workers in over 21 industries including finance and aviation will also take place on Monday and Tuesday.
