Today's trip, filmed for 4wdTV, is a day trip from Sunny Corner through to Cullen Bullen via Capertee and Turon National Park. Featuring River crossings and steep climbs, the trip was with a group of 4WD enthusiasts from Christian Autosports Club of Australia.

Sunny Corner to Capertee & Turon NP & Dunn Swamp - Blue Mountains & Lithgow 4x4 Adventure 2018 #3/3

Part three of a five day trip into the Blue Mountains & Lithgow area. In this part we continue making our way through the Sunny Corner State Forest to find a camp for the night. After a night in the State Forest we head through the Turon National Park to Capertee before spending our final night of the trip in Dunn Swamp.

Turon National Park November 2016

Some footage of the eastern side of Turon National Park.

Taken using a GoPro Hero 3. Vehicle is my 2012 Nissan X-Trail (Series V) with no modifications except for Bridgestone Dueler 697 A/T with about 20,000km on them.

Time Lapse incorporates the drive from just outside Capertee, through to The Diggings camping area. This is descending the Dry Weather route (turn right at the junction). Definitely would NOT drive that track wet. At The Diggings I got some track info from Tristan which was very helpful.

After heading west from The Diggings, we saw an Echidna. The river crossing immediately after was rutted out and a bit of a challenge for the rookie driver and his small 4WD.

The nice people in the Holden Colorado and Nissan Patrol at the next river crossing recommended against going further west due to the steep nature of the track and lack of support vehicle. Good advice!

After making it back up the rutted crossing, we heading back south past The Diggings to a few more river crossings, then after a last stop to get information from another 4WD couple, turned up the hill back to Capertee.

Looks like a great place to go camping, and I'll be back there some day.

Sunny Corner State Forest & Turon National Park 4wd trip 8.1.11 #1

We started off on the eastern side of Sunny Corner SF, plenty of steep ascents & descents to negotiate. Headed north through the forest along some easy grade tracks. Recent storms meant there were trees & branches down all over the place but we got through OK.

Upper Reaches Turon River

A short tour of the upper reaches of the Turon River, in the Turon National Park near Capertee, from close to the camp to the locked gates (private property). Some unique Australian wildlife and river crossings. Filmed with my GoPro camera, roof mounted on the Toyota (Tojo).

Sunny Corner State Forest & Turon National Park 4wd trip 8.1.11 #2

Several river crossings on this trip to make things interesting. Fortunately the water levels had dropped considerably after recent heavy rains.

Subaru Forester Off Road at Turon National Park, NSW, Australia

A few members of the Offroad Subaru Australia group met for a trip to Turon National Park. This NP is for 4WD vehicles only but our Subarus were quite capable, and drove home without a problem.
Our trip started in Sydney, then we travelled to Capertee to Turon NP to Sunny Corner. Traversed numerous water crossings, lots of steep ascents and descents involving rocky terrain, and mud holes. We were rewarded with a beautiful lookout during this trip.

If you got a Subaru, and want to head out to an awesome fun trip like this, let me know. Your car is more capable than you think, it's all about tyre pressures and picking the right line when driving off road. My car is the SJ Forester, no mods and road tyres. I was running 20 PSI during this trip.
