DAY IN THE LIFE OF TCSO DEPUTY PARAMEDIC PKG
TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WVUA) - Last time WVUA brought you a day in the life of a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy, this time we show you what its like to be a Deputy Paramedic.
The Sheriff's Office rolled out their first ever medical unit team in 2012.
Although, the main priority these men and women have are to aid in medical emergencies, they are deputies first and paramedics second.
Deputy Paramedic Richard Black has been with the office for 4 years. He says, the medical unit has been great for communities such as Brookwood, - the most important aspect of the medical unit at the Sheriff's Office is that we're in the more rural areas and can offer more advanced care while waiting on ambulance services to arrive. - Richard Black
Deputy Paramedics work very closely with surrounding agencies such as EMT's, EMS, and the VFD. In the end they all have one common goal, to provide the best possible care to the public.
Chief Deputy Byron Waid with the Sheriff's Office has had a huge part in putting this unit together. For Waid its been gratifying, to see this program grow. He also says, the men and women who are apart of this unit have understood the mission of the program and that's to get care to people in rural areas.

TORNADO - SEE BUILDING DESTROYED FROM INSIDE
SEE THIS GYM REBUILT ONE YEAR LATER IN LINK BELOW. Powerful tornado destruction caught by a security camera inside the gymnasium at Henryville High school in Henryville, Indiana in March of 2012, it was an F4 tornado. You can actually see the vacuum created by the tornado moving out of the building to the right immediately after the destruction. NOTE Sound effects were added to enhance the video, and to test my skills at editing, but they are not from any movie, Twister etc., it is the actual sound of tornado destruction to a building, and probably similar to the sound of the destruction to this building if the sound had been recorded. Montgomery is the capital city of the U.S. state of Alabama and the county seat of Montgomery County. Named for Richard Montgomery, it stands beside the Alabama River, on the coastal Plain of the Gulf of Mexico. In the 2010 Census, Montgomery's population was 205,764. It is the second most populous city in Alabama, after Birmingham, and is the 118th most populous in the United States. The Montgomery Metropolitan Statistical Area's population in 2010 was estimated at 374,536; it is the fourth largest in the state and 136th among United States metropolitan areas. The city was incorporated in 1819 as a merger of two towns situated along the Alabama River. It became the state capital in 1846, representing the shift of power to the south-central area of Alabama with the growth of cotton as a commodity crop of the Black Belt and the rise of Mobile as a mercantile port on the Gulf Coast. In February 1861, Montgomery was chosen the first capital of the Confederate States of America, which it remained until the Confederate seat of government moved to Richmond, Virginia, in May of that year. In the middle of the 20th century, Montgomery was a major center of events and protests in the Civil Rights Movement, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Selma to Montgomery marches.
In addition to housing many Alabama government agencies, Montgomery has a large military presence, due to Maxwell Air Force Base; public universities Alabama State University, Troy University (Montgomery campus), and Auburn University at Montgomery; two private post-secondary institutions, Faulkner University and Huntingdon College; high-tech manufacturing, including Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama; and many cultural attractions, such as the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
Two ships of the United States Navy have been named after the city, including USS Montgomery.Montgomery has also been recognized nationally for its downtown revitalization and new urbanism projects. It was one of the first cities in the nation to implement Smart Code Zoning.

SUMMARY
=======
Jefferson County is the most populous county in the United States state of Alabama. As of the 2010 census, its population was 658,466. Its county seat is Birmingham, the most populous city in the state. Its rapid growth as an industrial city in the 20th century, based on heavy manufacturing in steel and iron, established its dominance.
Jefferson County is the central county of the Birmingham-Hoover, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area.
In 2011, Jefferson County was $4.2 billion in debt and declared bankruptcy. The financial problems were related to costs of a huge sewer project. Corruption was found among six county commissioners. This was the largest Chapter 9 (municipal) bankruptcy in the United States, until it was surpassed by that of Detroit, Michigan in 2013. Jefferson County emerged from bankruptcy in December 2013, following the approval of a bankruptcy plan by the United States bankruptcy court for the Northern District of Alabama, writing off more than $1.4 billion of the debt.
The Thin Light of Freedom: The Civil War and Emancipation in the Heart of America
While a destructive and bloody war raged across Virginia in the aftermath of Gettysburg, free black families sent husbands and sons to fight with the U.S. Colored Troops. In letters home, even as Lincoln commemorated the dead at Gettysburg, they spoke of a war for emancipation. In The Thin Line of Freedom, acclaimed historian Edward L. Ayers, discusses the end of slavery, Reconstruction, the Freedmen’s Bureau, and new society struggling to emerge. A book signing will follow the program.
John Pelham (officer)
John Pelham was an artillery officer who served with the Confederate cavalry under J.E.B. Stuart during the American Civil War. Dubbed The Gallant Pelham for his military prowess and personal courage, Pelham revolutionized the usage of light artillery as a mobile arm of the cavalry.
