Frenchtown Loop Part 2
The second and final segment of our ride.
In this segment Sunny gets stung in the head by a bee, but does NOT stop him from enjoying the rest of the ride. I almost break my downhill speed barrier of 40 mph.

Head for the Hills vol 5 Uhlerstown Hill Rd
Installment #5! Run these hills to get yourself ready for the Main Street Half Marathon of Hunterdon -- October 7, 2018 (
MSHM Hunterdon is a hilly course, but in the hilly scheme of things it's really not that bad. To run it well, you need to train on hills--hills that mimic the race, longer hills, steeper hills... We've got 'em.
This time, we--me and two (!) running buddy Kristen (once again on filming duty) and Dan tackle The Hill. We venture over the Delaware River into Bucks Co, PA and run up Uhlerstown Hill Rd. The road so steep and narrow they close it to traffic five months of the year! In my opinion, it's the one hill challenge you need to check off your list. Major bragging rights.
On a side note, this was my second attempt to record this hill. I went out on my own a week before and kept pressing the wrong button on my phone. All that comedy gold lost.
For more details on the route, how to get there and where to park, check out the accompanying post on

See you next time...
First Night New Jersey . Fireworks in Frenchtown on the Delaware River
Recorded on January 1, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder. Every year Dr. Hahn puts on fireworks displays across the river from Frenchtown in Uhlerstown Pennsylvania. He never tells anyone about his plans or the time that the show will start. He does this for on New Years and one other time during the year.

The Lumberville–Raven Rock Bridge, also known as the Lumberville Foot Bridge, is a free pedestrian bridge over the Delaware River. The bridge connects Bull's Island Recreation Area near Raven Rock, Delaware Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey to Lumberville, Solebury Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The bridge, which is one of the two exclusively pedestrian bridges over the Delaware River, is owned and operated by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Memorial Bridge northbound
The first and still the most spectacular of the bridges across the Piscataqua River between Maine and New Hampshire was built on this site in the early 1920s. The original bridge opened in 1923 and stood on this spot until 2011, when a replacement on the same footprint was deemed a necessity.
The present bridge opened in 2013 and its design pays wonderful tribute to the bridge that came before it in its appearance and concept. Like the old bridge, the current bridge features a central vertical lift span. The old bridge's piers were deemed strong enough to be recycled for the current bridge's construction, so in a sense there are two eras of construction on display here: the original 1920s piers & foundations with a 21st Century superstructure that glances back toward the 1920s in concept.

Southbound on the D&L Trail (Delaware Canal Towpath)
This is a video from the second day of riding on the D&L Trail (about 20 miles north of New Hope, PA) I took in late August of 2014. This is just a small sampling of the Delaware Canal Towpath portion that runs for approx. 60 miles or so.
If you have time, you might want to check out the Northbound portion of the ride which is on a another video...
Here's what Traillink.com has to say about the trail:
The Delaware Canal Towpath, which extends from Bristol to Easton, is the only continuous intact canal remaining from the historic canal-building era of the early and mid-1800s.
Today the 60-mile Delaware Canal Towpath, once trod by teams of mules pulling cargo-laden boats, is one of four named trails that make up the 165-mile D&L Trail, the backbone of the National Heritage Corridor and the longest publicly owned trail remaining in the state. Other trails contained in the D&L are: the Lehigh Gorge State Park Trail, the Lehigh Canal North, and Lehigh Canal South.
Flood damage in 2004 and 2006 closed entire sections of the trail while significant repairs were made. The trail reopened in July 2010. Most of the repair focused on the locks and canal itself. The trail surface remains bumpy from exposed tree roots; users should expect rough conditions.
A variety of looping routes can be followed using any of the five bridges that cross into New Jersey and connect to the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park on the Jersey side of the river. Trail users can easily access both sides of the river to explore quaint towns and in-land trails to take in scenic river views. Connecting bridges are in the Pennsylvania towns of Uhlerstown, Lumberville, Center Bridge, Washington Crossing and Morrisville.
