Thai restaurant on Isla Bastimentos,Bocas Del Toro, Panama.AVI
After a nice hike to wizard beach and back to the village on Bastimentos, Loca Annie and I then took another hike up a hill to a well know Thai restaurant. A nice hike with a rewarding view at the end, as well as excellent Thai food! We saw a 2 toed Sloth at the look out where we dined. If you go to Isla Bastimentos make sure you visit this restaurant!

Want to help a young couple live out their dream? We need investors for our little caribean front B & B . Get in touch for more info and our business plan
Ryan & I recently had the opportunity to visit the islands off the coast of Panama known as Bocas Del Toro. We chose there to visit for my love of clear blue water and Ryan's need of a good surf break. The fact that their economy is growing didn't hurt either. We realized right away it had everything we were looking for to build a future. Amazing jungle scenery, warm, clear water, friendly locals, dollar beers, music, artists, great food....the list goes on. We pooled our savings together and are hoping to buy a beautiful island house. It's set directly on the caribbean. The land is perfect to build a couple casitas in the hill surrounded by nature, each with a deck and a hammock, of course :) We have plenty of space to build a bar/restaurant where the music will play and the food will be locally sourced and delicious. Ryan will take surfers out to the breaks around the island and guests on snorkel trips. I will cook, ensure everyone has what they need and are having an amazing experience. We will hire the locals in need of a job, local furniture makers, gardeners to host a garden, the woman down the street who makes amazing johnny cakes! This is how we see our future, as a self sufficient lifestyle that escapes the trappings of life or work as we know it in the states. It is so important to us. We want to enjoy life to the fullest and help others do the same. We don't want to wake up to find life has passed us by while we work paycheck to paycheck for someone else. We are in charge of our own destiny, we just need your help! This is just a start for our first casita and additional funds will go toward additional casitas and our restaurant/bar . Thank you for your contribution to a young couple's dream. We feel very blessed that you are now a part of it!
A day at Bastimentos

Morning walk in Old Bank, Bastimentos, Panama
Bocas Town to Isla Bastimentos, Panama
Bocas Town itself is a backpacker ghetto that's only good for partying. If you want to see the beauty of Bocas del Toro, you need to take a boat to one of the surrounding islands. Isla Bastimentos is home to Red Frog Beach, one of the best beaches I have seen in Central America.
Bocas del Toro, Panama - Things To Do & See
Visiting Bocas del Toro, Panama? This video features highlights of my December 2014 trip to Bocas del Toro.
There's lots of things to do and see in Bocas del Toro, Panama. In this video, you'll see Bocas Town, a chill, surfer-hippie town where music is often playing in the streets and you have a wide variety of restaurants and nightlife to choose from. You'll also see beautiful day excursions like Red Frog Beach, Sloth Island (where the funny looking sloth creatures move at a snail's pace) and the incredible Isla Zapatilla, which is a piece of Caribbean paradise where you can snorkel and relax while in awe of nature's beauty.
This video also explores Isla Bastimentos, a nearby island in the Bocas del Toro region. You can stay in a treehouse surrounded by beautiful jungle at La Loma Jungle Lodge, visit Up in the Hill for fresh coffee and chocolate goods, and if you're a hostel type of traveler, stay at Bubba's House, which is on the water.
You'll see all of that plus more in this video. The video will also link you out to additional videos featuring more things to do and see in Panama.

Pedasi: Panama's Most Charming Town On The Azuero Peninsula
Get our complete report on Pedasí in this month's issue of the Overseas Retirement Letter:
In a golden corner of Panama’s Azuero Peninsula sits the town of Pedasí. It’s a town with a village atmosphere—large enough to feel like you can live there, yet small enough to make you feel like an active stakeholder in a thriving community.
So what exactly is the Azuero Peninsula?
The Azuero Peninsula constitutes Panama’s southernmost landmass. Jutting into the Pacific, Azuero is an excellent staging post for forays into the ocean and is home to some of Panama’s finest coastline, with idyllic islands lying offshore surrounded by a deep blue and turquoise ocean abundant with rare mammals and marine life
This region is known as the heart of Spanish colonial culture, long famous for religious festivals dating back to the earliest settlement of the area by the Spanish. Some 500 religious celebrations are held each year in Azuero, clearly some kind of miracle as there are only 365 days in the year.
The population of Pedasí numbers only about 2,000, but Los Santos boasts around 85,000 people. Pedasí caters day-to-day needs with small- and medium-sized supermarkets, two bakeries, and several restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. The region is primarily agricultural, and it is possible to find high-quality fresh produce. In addition, Pedasí has a public health clinic, two banks, a public library, and a small shop selling surf and beach wear.
The capital of the province is Las Tablas, located about 30 minutes north of Pedasí. Chitré is located a little less than an hour from Pedasí and has all the amenities of a medium-sized city with several good hotels. A wide range of restaurants serving both local and quality international food as well as most major fast food outlets are represented. All of Panama’s largest supermarkets have large outlets in the city, and it is here that you can easily and economically stock up on staples.
Pedasí is often considered one of Panama’s most authentic and charming small towns. Located right at the southeast corner of the peninsula, Pedasí is within a few minutes of numerous white-sand beaches and rocky headlands, with numerous sandy coves and hidden coastal delights nearby. Situated on a flat coastal plain in the shadow of the Azuero hills, entering Pedasí is like taking a step back in time. The local population is friendly and hospitable, going out of their way to be helpful. They love baseball, which is taken extremely seriously and competitively at a national level with huge rivalry amongst the three provinces of Azuero.
Pedasí has seen a rise in tourism to the area in recent years due to a gradual discovery of what the town has to offer. Namely, world-class watersports, sport fishing, a number of world-famous surf breaks, and diving and snorkeling in little disturbed and well-preserved coral reefs.
