Exclusive: downforwhatever Golf Day
Celebrity golfers bathed in sunshine at the downforwhatever Golf Day to make it the most successful one to date. With teams taking part at Hanbury Manor golf course in Ware, the day proved a big hit and even the weather played ball.
The event kicked off with all golfers receiving a fresh Gabicci polo & a Nautica watch to wear, then tucked into bacon butties, followed by a shotgun start on the club's Course. A three-course lunch was served upon completion of the competition, followed by the awards presentations.
The winning team was captained by Danny Gabbidon, with Vernon Kay's team coming in second and Spoony's team third. Danny Gabbidon scooped the nearest-the-pin trophy, and Eric Caffan won the longest drive.
I would like to thank all of our headline sponsors Gabicci, Nautica Watches & New Era Global Sports Management, and also to say well done to all the winners. It was definitely a most successful day.

Charles, born 3rd of May 1768, died 1st of October 1838, was a Scottish chemist and industrialist. He discovered bleaching powder and founded an industrial dynasty. He was the ninth of John Tennants sixteen children. As a baby, he moved from Laigh corton farm to Glenconner, Ochiltree, Ayrshire. This was the humble beginning of the man who was destined to become founder and master of a mighty chemical empire and a great liberal reformer. He became one of the most progressive thinkers of his time. The Tennant surname with spellings of Tenant, Tenaunt and Tennant, is an English status surname. A dead stuffed crocodile has been discovered next to a golf course - leaving animal welfare officers baffled as to how it got there.
Passers-by contacted the Scottish SPCA to say they had spotted a reptile in a stream at Carnwath Golf Course, near Biggar in South Lanarkshire.
Officers from the welfare charity initially thought it was a prank - but when they attended the scene last month they found a four-and-a-half foot long dead crocodile.
And, bizarrely, the creature was stuffed and had a cigarette and a bottle in its mouth.
The animal was later identified as a West African dwarf crocodile.
The charity says it does not know how old the protected animal was or how it died.
