Siberian Road Trip - From Irkustk to Lake Baikal Russia
My Russian trip started with a 4 hour road trip from Irkustk to Lake Baikal and for all the natural beauty seen during the journey I will never quite forget THAT toilet at the midway stop off point.
This was the perfect start to my vacation in Russia and the frozen Lake Baikal which was my next stop was an unbelievable experience.
This is part 1 of my part 4 series on my Siberian experience,
Snowmobile safari in Russia: a perfect weekend in the Urals (Chusovaya)
The Chusovaya river is very popular among the rafters, cavers and tourists throughout the year. It’s famous for its spectacular landscape, including high rocks located along the shoreline and rising above the river, dense coniferous forests, covering the riverbanks and numerous caves and grottoes, many of which declared as unique archeological monuments.
The Russian Empire period.
This is where in the 16th century the Cossack hetman (ataman) Yermak and his soldiers started their legendary campaign known as the Russian conquest of Siberia.
The ‘Iron Caravans’.
First iron works were built along the Chusovaya river in the 18th century and the river became a primary economic artery in the Middle Urals: about 1000 of heavily loaded barges were annually sent from the Chusovaya wharf, the river was used for transporting metal, weapon and other products of the manufacturing plants from the Urals to the western Russia and to Europe.
Enjoy the nature of the Urals region and plunge into its history while travelling along the Chusovaya river in a weekend snowmobile guided tour with us!
Dikiy Sever expedition club (Yekaterinburg) offers unique guided snowmobile tours and skiing trips including meals, transfers and some sightseeing.
When you plan a vacation package with Dikiy Sever expedition club, you can rest assured you’ll get the best of your vacation time in Russia! Realize your Russian adventure with us.
Running expeditions since 2006, we spent 13 years exploring the most remote and inaccessible parts of the Urals.
Expedition club Dikiy Sever (in Russian stands for Wild North) – Expeditions to any far-off corner of the Urals.

START - Episode 3 (Tarifa to Vladivostok Road Trip)
The start of the long journey and first tests of sleeping in the car :D. There was a lot of things to prepare and emotions were there when saying bye to my girlfriend. She joined me on this small section from Tarifa to Madrid, and she is back to work while I'm off for real. This was already a month ago, but it was a bit tricky to edit while on the road. I do some short clips on the go ( but these longer episodes take a bit more. It helped that I got sick home in Belgrade and this gave me some extra editing time.
New episode on a week-long intense Pyrenees, Alps and Dolomite experience plus an episode on Belgrade pit stop coming soon. Peace and freedom to all.

The Dyatlov Pass Case
In 1959 a group of Russian hikers mysteriously died while traversing the snowy mountains of Siberia. Their deaths remain unexplained to this day. In this video I examine the available criminal case files, autopsy reports, and photos taken by the hikers themselves in an effort to unravel this mystery.
Correction:
After reexamining some of the medical reports, it appears none of the hikers were intoxicated. The mistake was due to a mistranslation from Russian to English.

Ice carving and magical lights turns Moscow into a magical winter wonderland
LEADIN:
Moscow turns into a winter wonderland ahead of the New Year festivities.
Lights and ice turn the Kremlin into a magical kingdom, and Moscow's freezing temperatures are temporarily forgotten - although this year, some say it's not quite cold enough.
STORYLINE:
Moscow is turning up the magic for the holiday season.
During the festival period, Muscovites and tourists are going on a winter wonderland tour.
Lights are ablaze with decorations on Manezh Square, next to the Kremlin.
Children and adults are delighting in the magic and sparkle. There's New Year trees to gaze at, and fairground rides to play on.
It's the stuff of fairytales says Oksana Voronina, who's come to enjoy the festive feeling.
This is a festival for children and as well as for us. We can reminisce over our childhood and remember our kindergartens and fairy lights. That's why we decorate our homes. I like this. I think the more light decoration, the better. It brings the festival mood.
The winter favourite, the Nutcracker is being performed on ice at Pushkin Square.
Young figure skaters train day and night preparing for the show. Several times a day they will be performing the famous fairy story for free for everyone to see.
Despite the economic jitters threatening the Russian economy, the authorities are putting the sparkle into the New Year celebrations.
Festival organiser, Irina Sukhotina explains: What goes on in Moscow now has no comparison in the world. Thirty six huge grounds with big cultural program. And what we do is free for people. For example, we have a skating rink on Pushkin Square where the Nutcracker show will be held. We found out that the most favourite New Year fairy tale among Muscovites is the Nutcracker.
She says the Magic Land festival will have plenty of treats in store for visitors - and most of them will be free.
Tverskaya Square which is just opposite the Moscow's mayor office has been transformed into an ice labyrinth.
Poet Alexander Pushkin's Tale of Tsar Saltan complete with sea creatures is the main theme in the ice labyrinth.
Irina Kudryavtseva, a sculptor from Saint Petersburg, says the ice is very good, although the weather is not cold enough to stop her ice sculpture from melting too quickly.
The ice that was brought here is from the Urals. It is crystal and clean. This is the best ice. The ice on the rivers might be dirty and is not suitable for sculptures, she says.
Frozen fish, crabs, lobsters and other sea creatures were frozen inside the ice blocks add to the underwater world theme.
We invented such secret rooms which would represent an underwater world. One could see a sunken ship, a box with jewellery and, of course, underwater inhabitants - crabs, and lobsters, says Oleg Chernyshyov, one of ice project curators.
He said all the sea creatures are real and were frozen especially for the magical winter wonderland.
