Violent mass brawl erupts at UK's notorious Atherstone Ball Game: Extended
Violence breaks out in a small English town during a medieval Shrove Tuesday tradition.
The scuffles took place in Atherstone, Warwickshire during the 820th Atherstone Ball Game, as hundreds of eager competitors battled to gain control of a sphere.
The town has a population of around 10,000. It's a dog-eat-dog event, with contestants using all means necessary to be in control of the ball, from punching and kicking their way through crowds, to climbing on the surrounding buildings to gain an advantage.
The game dates back to the medieval times and the two main rules are that (fortunately) you are not allowed to kill anyone, and that whoever holds the ball when time is up is declared the winner.
In its early iterations a bag of gold was used instead of a ball. The game lasts for two hours.

Devon's LARGEST Hidden Mansion! (Everything Left Behind + Cars)
► SITE HISTORY: So this place helped to sky-rocket a good friend of mine into his youtube career. Racking up over 14 Million views on YouTube. Gaining media attention and helping to build his channel from a few hundred subscribers to 160,000 as of recording this video. And today we explore the place for ourselves.
The sad history of Mountfield House in Musbury, near Axminster, dates back to when it was built in 1865.
It was not listed as a Grade II building until March 10, 1981.
According to Historic England, the “small mansion” is roughcast with stuccoed dressings and a slate roof behind parapets. The two storey building has three bays, sash windows and a terrace with cast iron balustrade.
The last – and current – owner is 85-year-old Dr Annette Drummond-Rees. Dr Drummond-Rees studied at Guys Hospital in London between 1949 and 1953. She went on to work as a chartered physiotherapist and later obtained a doctoral degree in the NHS.
Part of the property was put up for auction in February this year but withdrawn just before the auction took place.
Mountfield was advertised as a “13 bedroom detached house” which was split into four flats.
With a guide price of just £95,000, the property was said to be located in “the historic village of Musbury” which was “conveniently situated between the bustling market town of Axminster with its main line rail station and the coast at Axmouth and Seaton”.

(Thankyou Daniel)
The tunnel (known locally to the Scouts as Smokies) is 308 yards (282m) long and bends slightly so that one cannot see one end from the other. About two thirds of the distance through the tunnel, there is an adit branching off to the right. This was first called Bickleigh Vale Phoenix and later Tunnel Mine. It comes to a dead end some 50 yards into the hillside

One Woman's War DVD - Exclusive Clip - Memories of the Blitz
Candy Jar is pleased to announce its latest release: a DVD based on the critically acclaimed memoir One Woman's War by Eileen Younghusband.
Eileen Younghusband (91) was just 18 when she joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF). She quickly demonstrated her keen intellect and mathematical skills, playing a crucial role in Fighter Command's underground Filter Room.
Working grueling shifts under enormous pressure she and her companions worked tirelessly, tracking the swarms of enemy aircraft that sought to break the British resolve. She even had the dubious honour of detecting the first of Hitler's devastating V2 rockets as it fell on an unsuspecting London.
In 2011, Candy Jar Books published Eileen's memoir to critical and commercial success.
Now, this DVD goes beyond the book and delves deeper into Eileen's wartime experiences as she gives a frank and revealing interview about her experiences leading up to and during the Second World War.

Urban Explorer - 3 WWII bunkers (pill boxes) near Axminster, Devon
3 fairly good condition WWII pillboxes (bunkers) near Axminster, Devon, England. They are strategically sited overlooking a railway line (London to Exeter), a main road bridge, (A358 Chard to Axminster) and River Exe. Captured by TRANCEHI. Google map link below to the fields, travelling by car. The access road is behind Weycroft Mill and is a dead end. All 3 bunkers are spread within 100 metres of one another.

A project I initiated on the London Underground in an attempt to lift commuter's moods and increase interaction between each other rather than with their silly kindles.
This involved Pictionary between stops, handing out compliments on business cards, giving smiles away, keep bright stickers and a good dose of patience.
