Ice skating at VDNKH Europe's largest skating rink (things to do when living in Moscow, Russia)
Happy New Year 2020 everyone!
Recently I had a chance to visit Europe's largest skating rink. It's called VDNKH and is located right in the middle of Moscow, in the very heart of Russia. It's also unofficially called Russia's Main Skating Rink.
The place is fantastic. It's huge, amazingly decorated with great ice and friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much it's hard to explain. Fantastic experience overall. Couples, families with kids, foreign tourists - you can see everyone there. I particularly enjoyed Indian tourists trying to ice skate. Adults they acted like kids, probably seeing snow for the first time in their life.
It's also a favourite place among local Russians to spend an evening.
Fantastic mood and joy in the air is what I found skating through VDNKH.
Highly, highly recommended for a visit while vacating in Moscow.
This is what Tripadvisor has got to sat about VDNKH

Moscow dons festive spirits with Gorky Park's legendary ice rink

Gorky Park's legendary ice rink, this year known as the Factory of Happy People, officially opened in Moscow on Thursday.
With a maximum capacity of 6,000 people and sprawling over 18,000 square metres (193,750 square feet), the ice rink boasts concerts, ice discos and light shows, while the industrial refrigeration system means that Muscovites don't have to worry about the ice melting until the end of March.
This year the rink has adopted an industrial style with a smoking chimney at the entrance, pavilions made up to look like factory workshops and a neon conveyor belt.

Skating in style - now it's possible.
For the first time ever a part of ancient Red Square in Moscow was turned into a public ice skating rink on Saturday.
Once a showplace for Soviet military might, where Communist leaders used to salute its troops from Lenin's mausoleum, these days Red Square is often used as a stage for gala performances.
However, never before did it feature an arena where anyone with as little a pair of skates could come and enjoy a frosty winter afternoon.
Thousands of Muscovites came to see the opening of the rink that featured ice dancers as well as bear cubs on skates.
Although just 30 X 15 metres in size, an arena is a complex feat of engineering and craftsmanship.
Over the last two weeks workers laid nearly twelve kilometres of pipes that are pumping the water to create 15 centimetres thick layer of ice over the ancient cobblestones of the square.
The unique ice rink on Red Square will operate until January 13.
