A Russian cruiser docked at the western port of Inchon South Korea as part of a tribute to a historic sea battle fought more than 90 years ago.
The Varyag, the flagship of Russia's Pacific Fleet, arrived with a full complement of 510 crewmen on board.
Varyag came to commemorate the Russian ship of the same name that was sunk in 1904 by Japanese vessels in one of the opening battles of the Russo-Japanese war.
Varyag crewmen, all dressed in white uniforms, lined the decks and saluted as wreaths floated near Palmi Island off Inchon, where the original Varyag sank.
A South Korean navy vessel sailed out to escort the Russian ship.
During its five-day port call, Varyag seamen will play a friendly soccer match with a South Korean crew.
They're also looking forward to visiting the museums and markets of Seoul.
In return, the Russian ship will invite local residents to tour its decks.
Russia, a long-time ally of South Korea's rival, communist North Korea, has expanded military exchanges with Seoul after the two countries established formal ties in 1990.

Feb 9, 2013 Russia_Putin decorates Korean city mayor with Friendship Order
Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Orders of Friendship to Mayor of Korea's Incheon city Song Young-gil and to Honorary Consul General of Russia in Incheon Hon Chong on Saturday in Moscow.
The orders were given for contribution to the development of Russian-Korean cooperation and strengthening of friendship between the peoples.
Putin also took the opportunity to thank the awardees for keeping the memory of the heroic crew of the Russian Varyag cruiser alive, from the Battle of Chemulpo Bay in 1904.
In 2010, as a gesture marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Russia, the flag of the Varyag was restored and returned to Russia on renewable loan from Incheon Metropolitan Museum.
