Vedapuriswarar Temple
This video shows one of the ancient chola temples in Thiruvothur, Cheyyar (alias Tiruvettipuram) situated 27 Km south from the temple town Kanchipuram in Southern India. This temple is situated on the banks of river Cheyyaru. Thirugnana sambanthar, a spiritual genius-cum-saint-poet is believed to be performed miracles in this temple. The name of the deity (Vedapuriswarar or Vedanathar) comes from the belief that Lord Shiva preached veda at this sacred place. One more interesting thing to note in this temple is that Nandhi the sacred vehicle of Lord shiva, which usually in other temples is known to face Shiva (west) is facing east.

Thiruvothur is situated at a distance of 30 km from kanchipuram.
Temple was constructed during 6th century.
It is believed that as a result of Saint Thirugnanasambanthar's hyms, all the male palm trees were transformed into female ( fruit bearing) ones.
Hence it is believed that those seeking ' santhana prapthi' ( child boon) can pray to the Goddess here by making offering of palm fruits and then consuming it.
There is a separate shrine for Nagalingam.
Special poojas are conducted for this Nagalingam on all Saturdays between 9 and 10.30 AM. It is believed that devotees can worship this lingam to get relief from Naga Dosham.

Thiruverkadu is situated at a distance of about 7 kms from Poonamallee on the Poonamallee to Avadi route. From Koyambedu Bus stand (Chennai) it is about 10 kms.
This temple is about 1 kilometre away from the popular Sri Devi Karumariamman temple.
Other Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalams near this place are – Thiruvotriyur, Thiruvalithayam, Thirumullaivayil, Mylapore and Thiruvanmiyur.

Rajendra Chola's Memorial temple, which is located in a
small village called Brahmadesam in Cheyyar. It is 25 to
30kms far from Kanchipuram.
King Rajendra Chola, son of Raja Raja Chola spent his final
days of life in this village.
The statues reveals amazing, the architectural work of
pallava and western ganga is amazing.
This temple holds the inscriptions are 4 types of kings and
clans like western ganga king, chola, pallava and the king
under chola empire.
Also now this temple is under the control of Archeological
Survey of India and people who are interested in history
should definitely visit this place
