Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs. Its stone palaces seemingly rise out of the water. There are no cars or roadways, just canals and boats. The Grand Canal snakes through the city, which is filled with innumerable narrow, mazelike alleys and small squares. Venice is full of thousands of tourists all year around.

Do's and Dont's Kids in Venice || Hanuka in Italy
This week we are releasing a throwback video from our travels to Italy over last Hanukah.
We run through our list of Do's and Don'ts of traveling in Venice with little children. Spoiler alert ????it was not easy...
Venice is made up of 120 small islands and over 300 bridges that connect the islands. While there are a few bridges that are stroller friendly we recommend leaving the stroller behind and bringing your baby carrier for little ones and preparing the older ones for lots of walking.
The Gondola ride was a great way for us to soak in all of the Venetian beauty and we definitely recommend hopping on one. The Gondolier serenaded us with beautiful Italian songs and gave us the lowdown on Venetian history.
We only had a weekend in Venice, so we absolutely have to come back, to visit places like the Murano and Burano islands and to do a Venetian paper-mache mask workshop.

This was my first solo vacation, internationally, with my kids!
One week in Venice was too short, but in this Italian travel vlog we saw so much of Venice!
We went to local and touristy spots like piazza san marco, took a gondola taxi ride, and just people watched on the streets of Venice, Italy. Our Venice vacation was the perfect to our month in Europe trip for 2019! Cant wait to share the rest of everything we did for our remaining weeks in France!
2019 has been full of everything travel and I am so grateful! My hope was to get to Italy as soon as possible, but I didn't realize it would be this year!

Venice with Kids 2018
Wondering what to do in Venice with kids? Our kids absolutely love Venice. This was their second time back, so we tried some new activities and repeated some of our favorites....feeding the birds in St. Marks Square, painting masks at Ca'Macana, shopping at the Rialto Market, a gondola ride through the canals, eating pizza, gelato and cannoli....Last time we took the traghetto to Lido Beach and visited the islands of Murano and Burano as well. We love to stay in the Dorsoduro district because it's a bit away from the crowds. Join us as we wander through Venice and enjoy this unique city with our kids and our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Fletcher.
