Making Art with the Veterans' Glass City Skyway in Toledo, Ohio
The Veterans Glass City Skyway in Toledo, Ohio is a beautiful bridge. I wanted to do something creative and made this little video of the bridge just for fun.

Veteran's Glass Skyway Bridge Lighting Event
Working closely with the engineering design team, the community and the Toledo Arts Commission, the lighting concept developed for this signature bridge reflects Toledo's history as the Glass Capital of the World. Through a series of public workshop sessions, a final bridge design was selected that centers around a glass enclosed pylon that glows with colored lighting, creating a playful and unique nighttime landmark for the city of Toledo. State-of-the-art LED lighting technology provides the long life, energy-efficient source needed to create this infinitely flexible lighting system. The bridge lighting was unveiled at a gala event in June 2007.
This project was designed by Faith Baum during her tenure with The Mintz Lighting Group.

Song of Toledo Top 5: Purpose
Believe it or not, the band Purpose, one of the top five finalists for the Song of Toledo contest, lived in California when they wrote Oh Toledo.
They wrote the ode to the city on the Mighty Maumee because they longed for the Glass City so much.
I missed the community, how people are, and the home life, and just everything in general, T-town, said Matt Heart.
Oh Toledo is a positive song that highlights some of the Class City's landmarks, like The Veterans' Glass City Skyway, and Fifth-Third Field.
The lyrics are also emotional, talking about how Toledo is in the hearts of the band mates, through good times, and bad.
I know that Toledo's got a bad rap a lot of times, so Matt and I wanted to put more of a positive spin on it, said John Davis.
The goal was to arrange, develop and record a community song.
When we sing this ong I envision the whole Fifth Third Field just singing that chorus and chanting, Heart said. I tried to come up with something that reflects the community as a whole. I don't want to talk about potholes in the streets, everyone has potholes.
There is good people here, you know, and they want to do good things. They want to see good things for the community, Heart added.
The members of Purpose believe they have highlighted the good and they hope that Toledoans are inspired by what they hear.
Overall, I guess, what we're trying to achieve here is the song that's going to represent Toledo the best for that year, Heart said.
2014 Toledo Ohio Demolition Reversed and Seen From the Air! Acme Smoke Stacks and Clarion Hotel
I had the opportunity to film a few demolitions in Toledo, Ohio in 2014, the implosion of the 3 smoke stacks at the old Toledo Edison Acme Power Plant and a couple sections of the Clarion Hotel Demolition.
It is fun to watch these play back in reverse so I figured I'd share this view with you all. Enjoy!

Unsafe to Ride! Greenbelt Parkway, Veterans Memorial Skyway Bike Path
The old I-280 and Buckeye Basin Greenbelt Parkway bike path is not safe to travel. It is littered with broken glass and stones.
There are gangs of kids loitering and blocking the the path, trying to prevent cyclists from passing through.
Monday, June 24 2013, three boys attempted to attack me and prevent my passage. I recorded the event with a GoPro camera mounted on
my bike.
I approached a section of the path where the entire right side of the bike path was covered with stones. The stones were neatly
placed. At the end of the section, there were some large stones in the middle of the path and three boys lying in wait.
When I didn't veer to my left to avoid the stones, thus thwarting their plan to stop me, they began to approach me.
I may be old but I am a good bike rider. Confident that I could negotiate the obstacles, I increased my speed. One of the boys tried
to stop me by kicking me.
A few minutes after the incident, I entered the Greenbelt Parkway section of the trail. As I passed Bush Street, I noticed a gang of
approximately eight boys blocking the path about two city blocks ahead of me. They appeared to be in their late teens. I slowed my
pace while still at a safe distance to watch them. It was clear that they were loitering and blocking the entire path. I decided to
turn around and exit the path at Bush Street
The bike path cost many millions of taxpayers' dollars and it is not safe to use.
Contact the Toledo mayor's office, the Toledo police and your congressional representatives.
Tell them we paid for the bike path and we pay their salaries. They have a duty to maintain the path and keep it safe!
