Veterans Golf Course Metro Manila Philippines
Relatively short at par 72, Veterans Golf Course is one of the most popular in Quezon City due to its location. At 5,815 yards, it is still tricky due to its delineations of tight fairways with some accentuated dog legs. Molave trees line up many of its tight fairways. Small greens add to the challenge. Interesting and quite possibly its signature hole #7, is an island green surrounded by a water hazard. Being a short par-4, a golfer with a perfect tee shot reach the green and not necessarily stay on it. Bunkers and an OB line behind make this hole interesting and humiliating to many.

5th metro manila shake drill / Massive earthquake drill in the Philippines
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has declared that the staging of the 5th Metro Manila Shake Drill is all systems go, challenging participants to take this drill as an opportunity to enhance their disaster preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a major earthquake hitting Metro Manila.
Michael Salalima, concurrent Chief of Staff, MMDA-Office of the General Manager and Focal for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, said the public are enjoined to perform the “duck, cover and hold” exercise when alarms are heard.
He added that government and private organizations need to evaluate their preparedness, contingency and continuity plans and reinforce stakeholder cooperation to attain catastrophe resilience.
“This will not be a question of whether how many participated. The very measure of a successful staging of this shake drill is how the people understood its importance,” said Salalima.
At exactly 4 am on Saturday, sirens, and alarm systems, mobile phone alerts will be heard to signal the start of the earthquake simulation.
Critical scenarios such as building evacuation, fire control, collapsed construction and rescue of trapped victims, emergency medical assistance, food supply, will be simulated in cooperation with Metro local government units to observe how rescue teams react and respond to such challenges and issues.
In order to handle safety issues, the Philippine National Police-National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) has been tapped.
For an organized response and rescue operations, government personnel and rescue teams will set up emergency operation centers at four locations in the east quadrant, north quadrant, west quadrant and south quadrant.
Emergency vehicles and equipment will also be dispatched while manpower resources of the agency shall be mobilized.
“After the drill, we shall identify strengths and weaknesses, gaps and interventions to plug flaws and improve plans with the help of evaluators,” said Salalima.
The northern quadrant includes Quezon, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Caloocan, and Valenzuela with the Veterans Memorial Medical Center Golf Course as a post-staging region recognized as an incident command.
The west quadrant covers cities of Manila, Malabon, and Navotas with the Intramuros Golf Course as identified incident command post staging area.
The east quadrant covers cities of Pasig and Marikina with LRT Line 2 Depot as identified incident command post staging area.
The south quadrant covers cities of Taguig, Pateros, Paranaque, Pasay, Las Pinas, Makati, and Muntinlupa with Villamor Golf Course as identified incident command post staging area.
