Veteran's Memorial Dedication at FIG National Cemetery
Lebanon PA: In junior high, Laurie Litz and Linda Wengert received an assignment to interview someone who lived through the depression. Charlie and Eva Hawkins, Jo Ellen Litz's great aunt and great uncle, were the perfect couple to interview. Charlie and Eva lived through the depression, and shared stories about growing a garden, raising chickens and pigs, dancing to big bands, ice skating, and more. After the depression, they paid their bills, then saved any extra money that they could. Jo Ellen took Laurie and Linda to the interview, and typed their questions and Charlie and Eva's responses.
Charlie died first, then Eva, and she decided to donate their entire estate to help build the Veteran's Memorial at Fort Indiantown Gap. They had traveled the world while Charlie served in the army. He loved the uniform.
Many years later, it was an honor for Jo Ellen Litz to share Charlie and Eva's words on behalf of the family.
The elaborate Pennsylvania Veterans' Memorial is the largest monument in VA's National cemeteries. The combination open-air space and building stands 107 feet high and 360 feet long. Its design evokes the ruins of a war-torn building centered in a land of solemnity. Designed by Cee Jay Associates of West Chester, Pa., the granite, stone, and concrete composition was dedicated Oct. 7, 2001. The memorial is dedicated to all who serve the nation and veterans of all wars—past and future.
September 11, 2001, New York City was attacked by two hijacked airliners, and the Twin Towers collapsed. PA Governor Ridge had just resigned to become the head of Homeland Security for the nation, and Lt. Governor Schweiker stepped up to be Governor. Both men listened to the story of Charlie and Eva Hawkins.

Memorial to Theodore Teddy Roosevelt
On the left side of the walk, after leaving the Rotunda, you will see a statue Of Theodore Teddy Roosevelt. He is standing on the memorial of The Spanish American War.
Roosevelt has consistently been ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents. His face adorns Mount Rushmore alongside those of Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln.
Watch the video for more information about Teddy Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, into a wealthy family in New York City. Known as Teddy he was frail and sickly as a boy, and as a teenager followed a program of gymnastics and weightlifting to build up his strength.
Roosevelt embraced a strenuous lifestyle and successfully regained his health. He integrated his exuberant personality, vast range of interests, and world-famous achievements into a cowboy persona defined by robust masculinity.
Following the deaths of his wife and mother on the same day in 1884, he escaped to the wilderness and operated a cattle ranch in the Dakotas. He returned to run unsuccessfully for Mayor of New York City in 1886.
He served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under William McKinley, resigning after one year to serve with the Rough Riders to serve in the Spanish American War.
During the Spanish-American War, Roosevelt was lieutenant colonel of the Rough Rider Regiment, which he led on a charge at the battle of San Juan. He was one of the most conspicuous heroes of the war.
Soldiers Walk is the largest contiguous Memorial Park in the United States dedicated to our Veterans and all those have served since the Revolutionary War.
The park is 1/2 mile long and has 23 memorials with 42 statues depicting American conflicts throughout our history.
The park is funded completely by private donations. The people of Arcadia donate their time and services to maintain the park.
Each year tens of thousands of people visit the park and on the first weekend of every August, the park hosts Ashley For The Arts, drawing crowds of over 30,000 for this event alone.
Please visit the website, where we will be completing a documentary on every memorial and conflict represented.

Veterans Memorial Bridge (Port Arthur, TX) westbound [2017 Special Edition]
The first cable-stayed bridge in Texas was this structure built from 1988-91. The longest span is 640 ft and it spans just shy of two miles in total across the Neches River near the busy port city of Port Arthur on the Gulf of Mexico.
NOTE: Due to construction that closed the westbound Rainbow Bridge, the adjacent Veterans Bridge (which normally carries only eastbound traffic) was reconfigured to carry two-way traffic - that configuration is presented in this video.
Veterans Grove and Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Veterans Grove and Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial located at the College of the Ozarks are must sees ... a short distance south of Branson, Missouri.
The Veterans Grove, located next to the Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial, has planted trees with each one representing a veteran who has traveled with students to various points of battle around the world as a part of the College of the Ozark's patriotic travel program. At the base of each tree rests a stone bearing the name of the veteran.
The Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which honors the lives of the 1,410 men and women from Missouri who lost their lives serving during the Vietnam War, is located at the entrance to the campus, near the Alumni Center and bordered by the Veterans Grove. The walls of the memorial are divided because this country was divided. In between the two walls stands a statue of Vietnam Veterans, representing those who served in Vietnam and returned home to live the rest of their lives with memories of war. A flower bed in the shape of the letter “V” for valor displayed a bed of red roses, representing the blood shed by servicemen and women.
About the College of the Ozarks (

The Raising of the Largest American Flag in the city of Savannah
The City of Savannah raised a new American flag, the biggest flag in the City, on Tuesday, July 3. The flag is atop a new 100 ft. flag pole which was installed earlier at the new Veterans Memorial Park, located on Abercorn Street/Highway 204 at the end of the Truman Parkway.
The 30 ft. x 50 ft. flag was raised with the help of the 3rd Infantry Division Honor Guard.
City of Savannah Alderman Tony Thomas has spearheaded this SPLOST-funded project. As the City continues to develop the park, plans include enhanced landscaping, an honor garden, parking area, and benches.

Rainbow Bridge- Atreco,TX |DJi Phantom 4| 4K(UHD)
First of all apologize for not posting any content last two weeks. I did a road trip from Houston- Chicago to get more new videos for you guys. It was more of a family vacation so I decided to take a little break and spend some time with family. I will be uploading the Road trip to Chicago series on Sunday, so stay tuned.
This video is about famous Rainbow bridge near Port Arthur, Texas. Bridge is currently under construction and will be fully open in 2017.
Here's a little history about the bridge if you're interested. (Information obtained from Wikipedia).
The Rainbow Bridge is a through truss bridge crossing the Neches River in Southeast Texas just upstream from Sabine Lake. It allows State Highway 87 and State Highway 73 to connect Port Arthur in Jefferson County on the southwest bank of the river with Bridge City in Orange County on the northeast bank.
Construction on the bridge began in 1936 under the guidance of the Texas State Highway Department. Due to concerns by the upstream city of Beaumont about the bridge posing a threat to ship navigation, the Rainbow Bridge was built with a 680 foot (210 m) main span. In addition, it has a vertical clearance of 177.0 feet (54 m),[1] which was intended to allow what was at the time the tallest ship in the US Navy, the USS Patoka, passage under the bridge (however, the Patoka never did). However, the height of the bridge did allow the construction of jack up offshore drilling rigs at the Bethlehem Steel Beaumont Shipyard. With seventy-two (72) rigs built, the shipyard was one of the major sources of offshore rigs built in the United States.[2]
The bridge was completed on September 8, 1938. The nearby town of Prairie View took on the name Bridge City in response. Initially named the Port Arthur-Orange Bridge, it received its current name in 1957. The bridge was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Harold Jerome Clayton Keepsake Video
Share your memories of Mr. Clayton at
Harold Jerome Clayton, 93, of Beaumont, departed this life on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Pelican Bay Assisted Living, Beaumont. He was born on April 15, 1924, in Plant City, Florida, to Bernice Hardin Clayton and Kyler Clayton, and had been a longtime resident of the area. Harold grew up during the Great Depression where every family member pitched in. He related how at 6 years old, he worked in a hot house harvesting tomatoes. In school he was a good student but excelled in athletics and was an All-State basketball player.
Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and before departing for the Pacific, he married Iris Elaine Oxford. In the Philippines he served under Joe Fosse, a Medal of Honor recipient and Marine Corps Fighter Ace. Returning from the war, he took the first job available selling shoes. He and Iris moved around the South, settling in Beaumont where he managed Paul Shoe Store. Later through self-study, he became a real estate broker and president of the Beaumont Board of Realtors.
Harold is survived by his children, Daniel D. Clayton and his wife, Dianna, of Beaumont; Connie C. Randolph, of The Woodlands; and Gary R. Clayton, M.D. and his wife, Becky, of Lumberton.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Iris Elaine Oxford Clayton.
Harold and Iris taught their children to work hard, to get as much education as possible, and to be your own boss.
Harold often said, “If you could fry cook or sell women’s shoes, you would never starve.”
The family wishes to thank Mr. James Moore, and the entire staff of Pelican Bay; and Mr. Clayton’s personal caregiver, Margaret Keyes.
A gathering of Mr. Clayton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, with Military Honors by United States Marine Corps and Southeast Texas Veterans Group.
