Getting There/Directions
Just besides the steps to Piazzale Michelangelo, near the porta (gate) of San Niccolò.
San Niccolo is a nieghborhood at the base of a hill where Piaxali Michel Angelo is located. Away from touristic hurriers of the city, the nieghborhood has many bars and resturants frequented by locals. Il Rifrullo is one such resturant and bar that is very popular with the locals. Lots of people come in here for an apperatite or an after dinner drink.
We have a diner room but we have also a beautiful terrace. We have traditional Tuscan foods and also some ethnic dishes. I have chosen to start with the mixed Tuscan appitizer. Gracias. Now here we have traditional Tuscan ham, Prosciutto crudo, which is saltier palmaham. And we have some Tuscan salami and finocchiona and some pecorino cheese, which is sheep's cheese. Which is fabulous with honeys and marmalades. We have bruschetta, which is bread with fresh tomatoe, olive oil, garlic and basil. And some patte, which is kept hot with a little candle inside here, that we put on bread. Which is liver patte. And marinated artichoke.
Now I am having palatale, with vegetarian ragu. It has carrot, onions, I can taste some celery and definately garlic. Well, they talked me into having the chocolate souffle. I am Carolina Gamini, showing you Florence.

Florence/Firenze/Floransa:
Piazzale Michelangelo (Michelangelo Square) is a famous square with a magnificent panoramic view of Florence, Italy, and is a popular tourist destination in the Oltrarno district of the city. The famous view from this observation point overlooking the city has been reproduced on countless postcards and snapshots over the years.
It was built in 1869 and designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi on a hill just south of the historic center, during the redevelopment of the left bank of the Arno (the South side of the river). At that time, Florence was the capital of Italy and the whole city was involved in an urban renewal, the so-called Risanamento or the Rebirth of the city's middle class. Lungarni (riverside walkways; lungarno, singular) were built on the riversides. On the right bank, the fourteenth-century walls were removed and turned into the Viali di Circonvallazione referencing the French boulevard design, six lanes wide and lined with trees. On the left bank winding up the hill of San Miniato the Viale dei Colli was built, a tree-lined street over 8 kilometers long ending at the Piazzale Michelangelo which was built as a terrace with a panoramic view of the city. The news of the rapid construction of this undertaking has been described in detail by the Italian journalist Peter Ferrigno (known under the name of Yorick). The square, dedicated to the great Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, has copies of some of his works found elsewhere in Florence: the David and the four allegories of the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo. These copies are made of bronze, while the originals are all in white marble. The monument was brought up by nine pairs of oxen on 25 June 1873.
Poggi designed the loggia in the neoclassical style that dominates the whole terrace, which today houses a panoramic restaurant. Originally it was supposed to house a museum of works by Michelangelo, never realized. In the wall of the balcony, under the loggia, there is an epigraph in capital letters referring to his work: The Florentine architect Giuseppe Poggi turned this into his monument in MCMXI.The panorama embraces the heart of Florence from Forte Belvedere to Santa Croce, across the lungarni and the bridges crossing the Arno, including the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, the Bargello and the octagonal bell tower of the Badia Fiorentina. Beyond the view of the city itself are the hills of Settignano and Fiesole.
The Piazzale Michelangelo can be accessed by car along the tree-lined Viale Michelangelo, constructed at the same time, or by walking the stairs or going up the ramps from the Piazza Giuseppe Poggi, also known as the Poggi Ramps in the district of San Niccolò.

Albergaccio, Machiavelli's House, San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Florence, Tuscany, Italy, Europe
House Machiavelli or Albergaccio, as it is universally known , was the home of the Niccolo Machiavelli during the exile and is located in Sant'Andrea in Percussina , in the municipality of San Casciano Val di Pesa. Niccolo Machiavelli (1469 - 1527) Secretary of the Florentine Republic in the years 1498-1512 , is one of the largest and most interesting figures of the Renaissance. Writer varied and cultured, reserved his interests above politics, that , first of all , he considered a science in its own right . The House of St. Andrew in Percussina along with several farms belonged to the family of the writer . Here he took refuge after being exiled from Florence in 1512 , when the Medici returned to the city . The farm , with the adjoining tavern Albergaccio , is described in one of his most famous letters , one addressed to his friend Francesco Vettori , dated December 10, 1513 . The letter described his day among the occupations that are derived from the conduct of its properties and evenings spent at the tavern to play backgammon with the innkeeper and butcher 's place . But at night he retired to his library and spends hours reading the classics that inspired a book , written straight in a few months , and entitled De Principatibus : Prince , the work to which he owes his fame. After his death the house passed to his heirs and always pedigrees came to the noble Florentine family of Serristori . A few years ago belongs to the Italian Wine Group here that has some of its most beautiful vineyards and restored it accurately. You can visit the rooms of the villa , the beautiful wineries , and through an underground passage , enter the tavern described by Machiavelli himself . Even this has preserved over the centuries unchanged atmosphere .

Via dell'Erta Canina, Florence, Italy
A short stroll down the Via dell'Erta Canina, in Florence, Italy (misnamed on the video title, unfortunately). A bit off the beaten path, this narrow way winds its way down the hillside from the backside of Piazzale Michelangelo - a wonderful glimpse into a secluded and peaceful residential area on the east side of Florence.
