Hi guys this time we went in the south of Italy in a particular city called Vietri sul Mare.
As you should see from the video this place was particular for their high production of home made ceramics.
For made this video we shot for 2 days.
Film by Alessandro Petracci, Marta Riboni and Umberto punzi using a canon 70d.
The lens that we used are the tokina 11-16 dx and a sigma 18-250.
For smooth the shots we used a Flycam hd-3000 with the tokina 11-16 lens.

Cetara and Vietri Sul Mare in winter
We drove down the coast to visit the villages at the other end, Erchie, Cetara and Vietri.
Off season they were all very quiet and sleepy, very different from how they are in season!
In Cetara we found a wonderful little restaurant that served freshly made pasta with all the local specialities.
In Vietri sul Mare we walked along the surprisingly large beach, noticing all the ceramic decorations around town, before heading up to visit the famous Solimeme Ceramics Factory.

Vietri sul Mare is a town and comune in the province of Salerno, in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is situated just west of Salerno, separated from the Port of Salerno by only a harbour wall. The town is known for its polychrome ceramics, a tradition since at least the 15th century, and is considered to be the gateway to the Amalfi Coast.
The main landmark is the Church of St. John the Baptist, a late Neapolitan Renaissance style building with a high bell tower. There are numerous buildings displaying ceramics, including the Museo Provinciale della Ceramica in the nearby village of Raito.
The town is bordered by Cava de' Tirreni, Cetara, Maiori and Salerno. The quarter by the sea, named Marina di Vietri is located to the south of the town. The other frazioni are Albori, Benincasa, Dragonea (including the localities of Iaconti and San Vincenzo) and Molina.
The principal church in Vietri sul Mare is the Church of St. John the Baptist, a late Neapolitan Renaissance style building with a high bell tower. A previous church dated from the 10th century. It contains a coffered gold ceiling, a 17th century marble altar, an albaster statue of the Saint, and an 11th century wooden crucifix. The Confraternity of the Annunciation and the Rosary dates to the 17th century and is noted for its facade decorated with pottery. Other notable churches include the 16th century Church of the Madonna delle Grazie in Raito, the Church of Santa Margherita in Albori and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Benincasa.
The Palazzo Solimene was built after World War II by Paolo Soleri, and houses ceramic collections. The Palazzo Taiani is noted for its dovecote tower, which was once used to watch out for Saracens during raids. The nearby village of Raito contains the Museo Provinciale della Ceramica.

Vietri sul Mare, capitale indiscussa della ceramica artistica, con i suoi 8 mila abitanti e i suoi numerosi visitatori, si trova in provincia di Salerno e si gode la vista sul Mediterraneo da una postazione sopraelevata, a metà strada tra la battigia e le colline.
E' un concentrato di vitalità, cultura, testimonianze storiche e tradizioni centenarie, che spaziano dall’artigianato all’arte culinaria. Ma è anche una località divertente e rilassante allo stesso tempo.
Tra i gioielli architettonici del centro c’è la Parrocchiale di San Giovanni Battista, costruita nel XVII secolo secondo il gusto tardo rinascimentale napoletano, con il campanile coronato nella cuspide da splendide ceramiche variopinte. All’interno, a una sola navata, anche gli altari sono decorati di ceramiche e maioliche tranne quello centrale, in marmo. Pregevoli i dipinti, realizzati tra il XVII e il XVIII secolo.
Ma la ricchezza più grande di Vietri sul Mare sta nella tradizione della ceramica: la fabbrica di ceramica Solimene, un edificio del secondo dopoguerra progettato da Paolo Soleri, è lo scrigno
di oggetti artistici magnifici, che da sempre rendono il nome di Vietri sul Mare famoso in Italia e all’estero. L’attività legata alla maiolica risale addirittura al Medioevo, e si è perfezionata nei secoli successivi: i primi documenti scritti a riguardano sono datati XV secolo, quando si realizzavano semplici langelle in terracotta, e i primi sviluppi in direzione industriale si ebbero tra il XVI e il XVII secolo, anche grazie alla posizione geografica favorevole: ben inserita all’interno del commercio tirrenico, con buone risorse idriche e colline ricche di legname, Vietri ha visto nascere una dinamica classe imprenditoriale.
