Vík is the Southern-most village in Iceland and features a beautiful black sand beach (often considered one of the world's top ten black sand beaches). The beach ends in mossy boulders guarding steep green cliffs. The village has about 300 inhabitants, but many more visitors. A quaint church and graveyard sit on a hill overlooking the village. Vik is located along the Ring Road and a short distance from the can't-miss sights of Reynisfjara Beach and Dyrholaey.

Iceland is a unique country unlike anything i have seen. The beautiful landscapes, untouched nature, friendly people, and nature make it one of the best countries to visit.
Make sure to visit VIK as it is a lovely village just 2.5 hours away from Reykjavik. The great black beach and the Old Church are some of the cool things you will see there. I advise you to stay at least 1-2days

Iceland - Drive from Reynisdrangar to Vik town
Dash cam video of the drive from Reynisdrangar to Vík town. At the end of the video, you will see one of the N1 gas stations Víkurskáli. It also has a restaurant where you can try the fried fish - its quite fresh and good.
If you are driving from Reykjavik towards Skaftafell, Vatnajökull National Park or Jökulsárlón then Vik is a good stopover for the night. Nearby, there are quite a few hotels, restaurants and a supermarket where you can pick up your groceries.
Vík lies directly south of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which itself is on top of the Katla volcano. Katla has not erupted since 1918, and this longer than typical dormant period has led to speculation that an eruption may occur soon. An eruption of Katla could melt enough ice to trigger an enormous flash flood, potentially large enough to obliterate the entire town. The town's church, located high on a hill, is believed to be the only building that would survive such a flood.
