Places to see in ( Reims - France ) Villa Demoiselle
The Villa Demoiselle is an architectural monument built in Reims in 1890 under the orders of Henry Vasniers . Formerly Villa Cochet, the mansion located opposite Domaine Pommery boulevard Henri-Vasnier was transformed into Villa Demoiselle in April 2004. New buyer, Vranken dedicated the site to its first brand, the Champagne Demoiselle, which had previously been headquartered in Epernay .
The Villa in question is presented as a masterpiece of the Belle Epoque . The interior of the house has been completely redone in the original Art Nouveau style . One of the clichés of this current is the dragonfly, whose eponymous insect damsel is a close relative. Born in Champagne , René Lalique regularly came back to his origins. Its opaline globes dot the site. He liked the dragonfly like a muse.
The building was commissioned in 1890 by Henry Vasnier - the legatee of the Maison Pommery, which predestined him to become a place of residence and reception at the height of his tastes. Maecenas, enlightened collector, he revered Corot , Millet , Gallé and Majorelle . Worthy of surrounding himself with talented people, Louis Sorel was entrusted with the execution of the villa. The architect was close to the current of Art in All which sought the perfect unity. The construction began in 1904.Louis Sorel innovated by deciding to build the villa on a main concrete structure.
The House is interesting because of its mix of Art Nouveau and Art Deco , rooted in a period when the shift from one trend to the next did not take place in a sharp break. The exterior of the building responded more to the Art Deco movement . It was a question not to silence this duality and to resuscitate each parcel in the detail. Other work goldsmith, the new masters of the place scoured auction houses and antique dealers so as to restore antique furniture.
As the flagship of a blend of Art nouveau and Art déco, Villa Demoiselle was built from 1904 to 1908 according to plans by the architect Louis Sorel. In 2004, Paul-François Vranken, president of Vranken Champagnes, acquired the villa and undertook major restoration work which lasted almost five years. The very best craftsmen were engaged to restore the villa to its former glory whilst remaining faithful to the style of the era. Step back in time and come to discover the champagne house in conjunction with a visit or reception and admire its decor that boasts a unique sophistication.

Enrique Marty - 10 years experience Pommery. Villa Demoiselle. Reims. France (2012)
Reinstallation of piece “Sunbath”.
I always work in series. I think it is the best way to explore a subject in depth. In this series of works I have used the figure of the tourist as a symbol of transience, strangeness and uncanniness, in a strict Freudian sense.
When I was invited to intervene in the Domaine Pommery cellars, I remember, first of all, feeling a strong impression because of the characteristics of the space, the darkness, the coldness, its labyrinth structure… and because it is really quite deep. I told myself: this place has never seen the light of the sun.
When intervening in a space, one has two options: to work with the space as an ally or to fight it as an enemy. I usually have a clear understanding of the difference between the two approaches, but in this case I still haven’t been able to figure out whether it is one or the other.
The installation recreates a beach in broad daylight where a character (my father) is lying under a beach umbrella, listening to music from a radio-cassette player. When the viewer enters the space he finds himself before something completely out of context, a man sunbathing indoors —in a cellar which is excavated deep in the earth. I hope this gives rise to a series of questions and uncertainties about the interplay between “artistic” and “natural” objects, i.e., the sculptural reproduction of my father in relation to the rest of the elements in the installation, as well as the dichotomy of the contrast between inside and outside.

Places to see in ( Reims - France ) Reims
Reims is a city in northeastern France's Grand Est region. It's the unofficial capital of the Champagne wine-growing region, and many of the champagne houses headquartered there offer tastings and cellar tours. For more than 1,000 years, French kings were crowned at its Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims. This grand cathedral is known for its stained-glass windows and Gothic carved portals, including the Smiling Angel.
Reims (sometimes spelled Rheims in English), a city in northern France, is perhaps best known for its world heritage listed cathedral, where generations of French kings were crowned. It is also the largest city in the Champagne area and some the champagne cellars located in the city are likewise inscribed on the world heritage list.
Reims, the home of champagne (the most celebrated and celebratory wine in the world), is the main city of the Champagne area. It is a charming city, and one that the French hold dear to their hearts. There stands one of the most beautiful buildings of the Middle Ages in Europe, one that is filled with history: almost all French kings were crowned there for about 1,000 years. Most of the old houses were destroyed during World War I, and the city was extensively rebuilt in the 1920's in an Art Deco style.
No matter what you have read, nothing can prepare you for that first skyward glimpse of Reims’ gargantuan Gothic cathedral. Rising golden and imperious above the city, the cathedral is where, over the course of a millennium (816 to 1825), some 34 sovereigns – among them two dozen kings – began their reigns. Meticulously restored after WWI and again following WWII, Reims is endowed with handsome pedestrian boulevards, Roman remains, art-deco cafes and a flourishing fine-dining scene that counts among it four Michelin-starred restaurants. Along with Épernay, it is the most important centre of Champagne production, and a fine base for exploring the Montagne de Reims Champagne Route.

Pommery, Reims, Champagne-Ardenne, France, Europe
Champagne Pommery is a French Champagne house located in Reims. The house was founded as Pommery & Greno in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno with the primary business being wool trading. Under the guidance of Alexandre's widow, Louise Pommery, the firm was dedicated to Champagne production and soon became one of the region's largest Champagne brands. Pommery is currently owned by the Vranken company (located in Épernay), which also has Heidsieck & Co Monopole and Demoiselle in their portfolio. Jeanne Alexandrine Louise Mélin was born March 18, 1819 in Ardennes and married Alexandre Pommery in 1839. Upon Alexandre's death in 1860, his widow Louise Pommery assumed full control of the business. She purchased 120 limestone and chalk pits, so-called crayères, carved underneath 12 miles of the city of Reims by Roman soldiers during their occupation of Gaul. These unique cellars allowed her to store and age over twenty million bottles in a temperature-controlled environment. Many other Champagne houses later followed suit.
