The Kashi Vishalakshi Temple or Vishalakshi Gauri Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Goddess Vishalakshi at Mir Ghat on the banks of the Ganges at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India.
It is generally regarded as a Shakti Peetha, the most sacred temples dedicated to the Hindu Divine Mother.
The earrings of the goddess Sati are said to have fallen on this holy spot of Varanasi. Vishalakshi is the deity & Kalbhairava, who is believed to be the protector of Kashi is her Bhairava. The temple is situated by the famous cremation grounds of Manikarnika. Vishalakshi Temple is known for its temple festival on Kajali Tij, held on the third day during a waning fortnight in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada (August).
Sati's eye or earring is believed to have fallen at Varanasi, establishing Vishalakshi as a Shakti Peetha.

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh is home to the Vishwanath Jyotirlinga shrine, which is perhaps the most sacred of Hindu shrines. It is also one of the Padal Petra Stalam of Vada Naadu mentioned in Thevaaram. The temple is situated in Varanasi, the holiest city for Hindus, where a Hindu is expected to make a pilgrimage at least once in his life, and if possible, also pour the remains of cremated ancestors on the River Ganges. The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganges, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. In fact, it is a place where Shakti peeta and Jyotirlingam are together. It is the holiest of all Shiva temples. The main deity is known by the name Vishwanath or Vishweshwara meaning Ruler of the universe. The temple town, is considered the oldest living city in the world, with 3500 years of documented history, is also called Kashi.

धन-धान्य की देवी माता अन्न्पूर्णा के दरवार में भक्तो को धनतेरस (आज )को खजाना का विशेष प्रसाद दिया जाता है , मान्यता के अनुसार भक्तो के पेट को भरने के लिए भगवान शिव ने माता से भिक्षा का वरदान मानगा था तभी से ये परम्परा का शुरुआत हुआ, .... वर्ष में सिर्फ चार दिन आज से अन्नकूट तक ही माँ अन्नपूर्णा के सुवर्ण(सोने) की मूर्ति का दर्शन होता है। कहते तो यह भी है कि आज के मिले सिक्का-लावा (खजाना) को घर के तिजोरी या संदूक में रखने से कभी पैसे और अन्न की कमी नहीं होती।

This 2017 Dussehra, Bhakti brings you the full details of Visalakshi Devi Temple in Kasi , Varanasi which is one among the Ashta / Asta Dasa Shakti Peethas. The Karna kundala(Ear ring) of Devi fell here. Hence Devi Maa here is also known as Manikarni or Manikarnika. Goddess worshiped here as Maa Vishalakshi & Lord Shiva as Kala or Kaal Bhairva.
Another version says that this is a shakti peetha only because one of the three eyes (Akshi) fell here. As the divine eye can perceive the entire universe, Mother here is called Vishalakshi, the vast-eyed. Varanasi (Hindustani pronunciation: [ʋaːˈraːɳəsi] ( listen)), also known as Benares , Banaras (Banāras [bəˈnaːrəs] ( listen)), or Kashi (Kāśī [ˈkaːʃi] ( listen)), is an North Indian city on the banks of the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, 320 kilometres (200 mi) south-east of the state capital, Lucknow.
