Our walk starts by the Visitor Centre in Apollo Bay – and winds out through the town to the beach-side suburb of Marengo. Continuing onwards the countryside becomes more rural farmland. The trail continues up a small hill and onto the coast.
There are good views along the coast from a conveniently placed rest bench, followed by a steep descent onto another beaches along the path.
The walk gives you the option to walk around the rock platform and beaches or follow the trail through the Park and along sandy foreshore and boardwalks.

GREAT OCEAN WALK PART 1 OF 2
Part 2-
The great ocean walk is way down south of Victoria, and it's about 100km all up. Its one of Australias best walks, so I filmed the walk on a GoPro Hero 4, charging it along the way with a small solar panel from NOCO. The first three days our packs were trailered to the campsite as they were the longest walking days. We wanted to get the hike done quicker so we hiked to the second campsites for the first days. After day three we had to carry our packs, but went to the first campsites on the map, making it a shorter walk. I slept in a SnowPeak Fal 2 tent, with a Snowpeak Sleeping bag. The pack i carried was a Boreas Halo, was perfect size for the hike, carried everything i needed and was very comfortable on the track. I also carried a small MacPac day pack for the first three days. The walk ended at the 12 apostles, a great tourist attraction in Australia and from there we were picked up and driven back to Apollo Bay.
The GOW offers many different terrain types like dirt tracks, sandy beaches, rocky coastline and rainforest. Everyday was a different experience on the track, with incredible views all the way along.
Rate it a 10/10. Keep and eye out for Part 2 coming soon!

Great Ocean Walk
Trekking in the Great Otway National Park in Victoria, Australia, was a great experience. The Great Southern Ocean looked spectacular in-spite of it's reputation as the ship wreck coast. The walk finished with a spectacular view of the 12 Apostles (now only 8), one of Australia's iconic locations. The 12 Apostles guided walk was enjoyed by our trekking group from Noosa. Thanks Jack (our guide), you're a legend!
Great Otway National Park .- Road Trip on Xmas 2019 .
The Great Otway National Park stretches from Torquay through to Princetown and up through the Otways hinterland towards Colac. The park features rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, rock platforms and windswept heathland and beautiful spring wildflowers. In the north, the park features tall forests, ferny gullies, magnificent waterfalls and tranquil lakes.
The Great Ocean Walk, stretches 91 kilometres from the idyllic resort town of Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead (adjacent to the 12 Apostles). It passes through the National Park and overlooks the Marine National Park.
Experience and enjoy the natural environment on horse back or on a mountain bike. A permit is required for horse riders to ride in the National Park and Parks Victoria staff can assist you with this. The formed roads and tracks provide ideal trails for these active endeavours.
Picnic opportunities abound, with lovely settings at many of the waterfalls as well as Blanket Leaf, Sheoak, Distillery Creek, Moggs Creek, Paradise, Melba Gully, Shelly Beach, Triplet Falls and Blanket Bay to name a few.
There are excellent camping opportunities throughout the Parks.

Great Ocean Walk 2018
Our trip with Hike2Camp on the Great Ocean Walk, VIC, AU. Happy Birthday Susie!
2 Weeks Exploring New Zealand's South Island in our Festive Campervan
The video pretty closely follows the route we took after picking our van up in Christchurch. Here's a day by day run down of our two-week visit:
Day 01: Picked up our van in Christchurch, provisioned and headed north to Kaikoura
Day 02: Biked through Wairau Valley wineries & explored the Marlborough Sounds
Day 03: Hiked in the sounds then drove West towards Abel Tasman
Day 04: Cruise and hike through Abel Tasman National Park
Day 05: Rock Climbing at Paynes Ford near Takaka
Day 06: Long drive down the west coast stopping at Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, Hokitika Gorge (not worth it!) and Bruce Bay before camping in Mount Aspiring National Park
Day 07: Headed to Wanaka and hiked Isthmus Peak
Day 08: Bungee jumping and garden walking in Queenstown. Drove to Te Anau and Fiordland National Park
Day 09: Cruise in Milford Sound and a visit to the glow worm caves in Te Anau
Day 10: Hiked Gertrude Saddle in Fiordland National Park and drove to the Southeast coast
Day 11: Explored the East coast ending up in Dunedin
Day 12: Dunedin botanical gardens, drove to Lake Pukaki and Hiked Hooker Valley Track in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park
Day 13: Lake Pukaki, lavender gardens, and Lake Tekapo. Camped at some random lake on our way back to Christchurch.
Day 14: Returned our van in Christchurch and enjoyed some beers around town
The guy at the van rental place laughed when we told him everywhere we went because we pronounced nearly everything wrong, so your guess is as good as mine. :D
We rented our van from Escape Campervans and absolutely loved it. Each van has a custom paint job and plenty of space for two. They've got rentals in the US as well!

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures Tree Top Walk - Otway Ranges - Victoria Australia - Great Ocean Road
We had a birds-eye view of the Otway Ranges rainforest during our treetop walk at the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures! This short video is our experience during the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk. The views were amazing, it was heaps of fun, & a lovely day out. We combined the walk with the Zipline tour & I would recommend this to anyone! Checkout my zipline video here
About the Otway Fly Treetop Walk:
Otway Fly Treetop Adventures is located 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne near the Great Ocean Road. The Rainforest and Treetop Walk is 1.9km and takes about 1 hour to complete. The 600 metre-long, 30 metre-high elevated walkway provides unrivalled views of the unique beauty of the region’s flora and fauna, from the rainforest floor up into the soaring heights of the treetops. There is a 47 metre tall Spiral Tower and also a Cantilever perched above Young’s Creek. It is a truly exhilarating experience when you are on the Cantilever and you gently sway with the rainforest canopy. Interestingly the Cantilever can hold a maximum weight of 28 tonne or 14 Elephants!!
