The Sea Ranch: Architecture, Environment, and Idealism
Distinctive architecture, uninhibited ocean views, bold supergraphics, shared open space, and meditative tranquility — these were the beginnings of The Sea Ranch, a beacon of Modernism on the Northern California coast. Designed by a small group of Bay Area architects and designers in the early 1960s, the development was envisioned as a progressive, inclusive community, guided by the idealistic principles of good design, economy of space, and harmony with the natural environment. Their vision of utopia hit a snag as it collided with politics, economics and drift from the original plan, but the present-day character still reflects the pioneering efforts of those who imagined it.
Hiking Crystal Cove State Park's El Moro Loop Trail in Laguna Beach
Crystal Cove State Park is a beautiful area with 3 miles of coastline and lots of great hiking trails. I headed out on the El Moro Loop Trail which goes through a nice canyon and up to a ridge line that provides great views of the ocean. It's a great orange county hike and there is a nice beach that you can relax at when you finish.

Hiking Trails in Sonoma County
Sonoma County’s thriving regional park system consists of more than 50 parks — including trails and open spaces — and encompasses nearly 60,000 acres. Parks run the length and breadth of the county, stretching north from Bodega Bay to The Sea Ranch and Gualala, and east from the Pacific Ocean to Sonoma Valley.
Sonoma County’s eleven state parks cover an extraordinary diversity of geographical terrain that reflects the county’s beauty. Our state parks overlook the Pacific Ocean and many beaches, and they are home to rivers and lakes, mountains and valleys, redwood forests and pygmy forests—and even vineyards.

Californ State Parkland carpets the hills behind Malibu, and provides extensive horseback-riding, hiking, running, and mountain-biking options, affording many different views of the Santa Monica Mountains, the curve of the Santa Monica Bay, Santa Catalina Island, and the San Fernando Valley. There are many points of access to the Backbone Trail System scattered throughout the local canyons, as well as a variety of smaller, local trail-heads.
Pacific Coast Highway is popular with road cycling enthusiasts for its vistas. The route also has a reputation for being quite dangerous for cyclists, a fact which inspired the creation of the Dolphin Run, an annual community event commemorating local victims of reckless driving. The Dolphin Run was held each Autumn from 1990 to 2004.
In late June 2008, the Malibu Pier reopened after $10 million in renovations.
There are several shopping centers in the Malibu Civic Center area including the Malibu Country Mart, the Point Dume Plaza, and the newly opened Malibu Lumberyard, so named for the community Lumberyard that used to occupy that space. The Malibu Civic Center is well known for being frequented by paparazzi and tourists looking to catch a glimpse of local celebrities.
Malibu Bluffs Community Park and Malibu Bluffs Recreation AreaEdit
The former Malibu Bluffs State Park ownership changed hands in 2006 after the California Department of Parks and Recreation transferred the park's 93 acres (380,000 m2) control to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy,[90] They established the Malibu Bluffs Recreation Area, an Open Space Preserve of 90 acres (360,000 m2) on the bluffs between the Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Road, directly opposite Pepperdine University and Malibu Canyon Road. The 100-foot (30 m) bluffs rise above Amarillo Beach and Puerco Beach across Malibu Road. Five public stairways (which adjoin private property) lead down to the shoreline from the base of the bluffs. The trails begin from the spacious lawns in Malibu Bluffs Community Park
The Malibu Bluffs Recreation Area surrounds the 6-acre (24,000 m2) Malibu Bluffs Community Park, whose 10-acre (40,000 m2) parcel the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy sold to the city.[91] It consists of the Michael Landon Community Center, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields. Home of the Malibu Little League (MLL), once the largest youth team sports organization in Malibu. (That honor was wrested in the 1990s by Malibu AYSO, a youth soccer organization that shares park space (practice fields).) For over 20 years, the State Parks had tried to kick out Malibu Little League's baseball diamonds and tall baseball fences, with the intention of returning the land to its native wetlands and vegetation.
A rider to a California state law was written specifically in the 1950s to allow baseball, with its attendant field accoutrements, to continue being played in the state park.Several generations of Malibuites worked to keep Malibu Bluffs Park for baseball and soccer
Adjacent to the Malibu Country Mart was a vacant, 20-acre (81,000 m2) plot of land owned by billionaire Jerry Perenchio and sold to the City of Malibu in 2005 with strict deed restrictions prohibiting any further commercial use.
This site is now home to Malibu Legacy Park, an ongoing restoration project undertaken by the City, with broad community support. The City hopes that a state-of-the-art water treatment plant already built will use stormwater runoff that accumulates in the park, making it into an environmental cleaning machine that will end the City's stormwater pollution contribution to Malibu Creek, Malibu Lagoon, and the world-famous Surfrider Beach.
The Malibu Legacy Park Project responds to critical issues: bacteria reduction by stormwater treatment, nutrient reduction in wastewater management, restoration and development of riparian habitats, and the development of an open space area for passive recreation and environmental education. In addition, the Project will be linked by a “linear park” to neighboring Surfrider Beach, Malibu Pier, Malibu Lagoon, and Malibu Bluffs Park.
The park is located east of Webb Way, and between Civic Center Way on the north and PCH to the south. It was the site of the annual Labor Day Weekend Kiwanis Club Chili Cook-Off from 1982–2009 (in 2010, the Chili Cook-Off and Carnival went on as usual, but moved to still-open land across Civic Center Way, on the Ioki property, at the corner of Civic Center Way and Stuart Ranch Road).
Further back, it was agricultural land, planted in geraniums, other flowers and vegetables by the Takahashi family since 1924
As of now, Legacy Park stands in the lot adjacent to the Malibu Public Library. Some dissidents of the park developm

Travel Uttarakhand || Video of a McWay Waterfall on an Ocean Beach at Sunset ♥♥ Relaxing 3 Hour
McWay Falls is an 80-foot-tall (24 m) waterfall on the coast of Big Sur in central California that flows year-round from McWay Creek in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, about 37 miles (60 km) south of Carmel, into the Pacific Ocean. It is a tidefall, a waterfall that empties directly into the ocean, and one of only two in California, the other being Alamere Falls.
McWay Falls is featured in the music video for I Need a Doctor by hip-hop artist Dr. Dre.
McWay Falls is an incredibly scenic waterfall at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in California. McWay Creek drops 84 ft. off a cliff onto the beach nestled in a pretty little cove. You cannot get down onto the scenic beach as the cliffs are too crumbly and dangerous to descend. The waterfall is fed from underground springs on McWay Creek, and the waterfall thus has constant flow throughout the year . The park was named after Julia Pfeiffer Burns, who was a pioneer and cattle ranch owner in the Big Sur area. Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is 37 miles south of Carmel, California along California State Route 1. This video is also useful for meditation, relaxing, and helping go to sleep for people with insomnia or ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
Due to the high cliffs surrounding the cove, the beach is inaccessible except by boat, and may be covered by surf at high tide. The outlet of McWay Creek at the top of McWay Falls is accessible by a 0.5-mile-long (0.80 km) trail that starts at a parking area just east of Highway 1. From the parking lot, visitors can walk down a dirt path toward the ocean, through a short tunnel under the highway to the overlook. The Waterfall Overlook of McWay Falls was built on the site formerly occupied by the Browns' mansion. Visitors to the site today can view remnants of the home's foundation, landscaping (including palm trees), and the funicular railway. Ewoldsen's original Pelton wheel is displayed in a small building.

Pinnacle Gulch Bodega Bay, CA
Pinnacle Gulch Coastal Access Trail in Bodega Bay, California is part of the Sonoma County Parks system located at 20600 Mockingbird Rd, Bodega Bay, CA 94923.
During low tide, you can walk 1.9 mile loop via the Shorttail Gulch Coastal Access Trail or hike north along the coast to Doran Beach.
I wouldn't consider this a hike, but more of a coastal access trail that leads to a dog friendly beach with free parking.

What a great place to bike ride (or walk or jog)! These clips are from Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz, CA along the Coastal Trail. Oceano Dunes Natural Preserve - Oceano, California (95)
Talk about paradise. I just couldn't stop smiling. We arrived at Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort in Oceano, California and were treated to the most incredible sights and sounds. Driving to the upper campground, you're immediately stunned by the beauty to the right. There is an access point to the dunes and it is a giant sand box. It made us feel like kids again and Fiona had a blast. This is the site of many photo shoots and it's easy to see why.
The beach is a 30 minute walk from the campground and you'll have access to Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area once on the beach. Try saying that five times fast!
Here is some more info on the nature preserve:
On this particular day we mostly explored the nature preserve but the next day we enjoyed Oceano Dunes SVRA:
The campground is situated close to the beach and shopping. There are countless things to explore from this area, so it's a nice starting point.
Why we love the Thousand Trails Zone Pass ($565 USD) with the Trails Collection ($199 USD) upgrade:
Not only can we access the approximately 80 Thousand Trails campgrounds at no extra cost, but we also have access to 107 Encore properties. Only 18 of the Encore properties are premium properties and cost an additional $20/night.
It fits our current lifestyle because we are trying to see as much of the U.S. and Canada as possible this winter. Maybe next year we will try something different but for now, it works well. We estimate that we are paying about $5/night based on the above membership. If you like you can check out the link below to get an additional rebate.
Get out and camp with $100 off a Thousand Trails Camping Pass. You will get $100 off and we will receive a $25 referral fee. All our reviews are 100% honest opinions. Start exploring by clicking this link!
Stay tuned to see how we fare on the beach drive and much, much more!
