Me and Sarah exploring the Saunton Sands in Devon.
I didn't expect to be amazed by this beach, but even in winter time, it's marvellous. You should go if you're around.

Saunton Sands is a beach in the English village of Saunton on the North Devon coast near Braunton, popular as a longboard surfing location. Its southern end, Crow Point, lies at the mouth of the River Taw estuary. It is part of the Taw-Torridge estuary Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is at the centre of the UNESCO-designated North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, where Braunton Burrows lies at the heart.
Saunton Sands Hotel overlooks the beach at the northern end. This is cordoned off a few times a year and the beach used as an airstrip for military transport planes, usually, Lockheed C-130 Hercules of the Royal Air Force, to practice STOL beach landings and takeoffs. There are permanent restrictions in some areas for flying kites on this part of the beach.
Saunton Sands is popular with surfers because the beach is long and provides space for large groups.
On 3 August 1990, a temperature of 35.4 °C (95.7 °F) was recorded at Saunton Sands, which is the highest temperature recorded in England's south-west.

Over the coming weeks Wavegarden’s engineers will continue to calibrate the machinery and program a diverse playlist of wave types, as the team at The Wave prepare for their official opening.

Surfing Vlog (Woolacombe Bay Holiday)
In half term we went to Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park,to go on a surfing trip. We spent 4 days in North Devon, enjoying some decent waves. Slowly improving my surfing just need to keep getting out there.
We stayed at Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park which is a 5 minute drive to the award winning beach, and just a short drive to Croyde and Mortehoe.

UK Storm October 2013 hits Cornwall Coast

'Strange Natural Phenomenon - A River of Sea Foam UK Storm Cornwall Nov 2013'
This video is by Steve Shelton, nr Bude Cornwall, filmed at 2pm 27th October 2013 off North Cornwall coast looking out at the Atlantic Ocean about 5 miles north of Bude. This is the first signs of the predicted massive storm to hit the UK, It may be hard to determine the scale of the waves from this video but they had to be at very least 3m often more than 4m tall and this was a following wind (rather than off shore which would hold the waves up). I was stood for some shots a good metre higher than the tide line, camera a metre and half high and as you can see the waves are still significantly higher than the level line. When stood on the cliff it was hard to even kept balance due to the incredible strength of the wind. I'm not small but I was constantly blown back and the solid heavy tripod blow over as well ..scary and this wasn't the full storm by any means, that is arriving later into the night if the UK Mat Office predictions are correct ...gulp!
The original intended use of this bit of videoing was for this song my band has recorded all about the sea, called 'Sea is she' and we're making a video to go with it:
..and there is a 'stormy' bit in the middle that we'll take some clips from this storm! I assure you the music is much better on the link than on the video!

BLU Saunton Sands Longboard Classic Winner - Elliot Dudley
Such a treat to watch this gentlman surf, especially when the waves were perfect for the approach the boys were taking.

Elliot Dudley from Wales, having returned to competition after winning the Welsh title the week before, was quick to set his stall out and with his traditional logging approach posted some high scores.
Elliot also dominated the Men's Open (Winning Men's Open and Single Fin) despite a valiant effort from Ben Howey in the final who posted a 10 on one wave, but still fell just short of Elliot's massive overall score.

Hiking From Croyde Bay to Saunton Beach (Great views & Abandoned Farm House)
I was down in the south west of England in North Devon visiting family and I decided to take a day out and go on a little adventure. This is part two of how I spent my day..
After finishing rock climbing down in Croyde I decided to take a hike through the maze of hedgerows and up to top fields and over the hill to Saunton sands. This walk is very scenic with some lovely views of Croyde bay and Saunton sand and the burrows. On route I came across and abounded farm house the was a bit of a old ruin which made for a interesting look around before I headed down the rest of the hill to finish this part of my journey at Saunton sands.

Winter Surf in Devon
A bit of a different style video... no talking in this one! My boyfriend and I headed surfing in Devon for New Year's. We stayed in his van and surfed at Saunton Beach and also explored Welcombe Bay.

Surf near Ramsgate
It's lovely walk from Broadstairs to Ramsgate at the weekend. If the tide is right you can go all the way along the beach. Go in the morning to get the best light on the beach and the chalk cliffs. Have a coffee in Ramsgate, or stay for lunch. There's a lovely view of the town from the Royal Harbour Brasserie at the end of the pier.
