The Colosseum | Rome | Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
JUNE 10, 2015—'Twas the afternoon of our 2nd day in Rome and the 1st day of our official Best of Italy tour via Trafalgar Travel and Tours. We just came from a tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel in the morning. Our first stop for the afternoon is The COLOSSEUM in the city center of Rome. It is the biggest and undoubtedly the most famous and most storied amphitheater ever built.
For more info about the Colosseum, check out:
This is a short slideshow video of our photos at the COLOSSEUM in Rome. Enjoy watching.

Positano, Amalfi Coast | Italy
We.Are.Wanderful
JUNE 12, 2015—One of our most memorable destinations in Italy is the cliffside village of Positano in the Amalfi Coast. The almost 1 hour road trip from Sorrento is very pleasant and scenic. The village of Positano is like taken straight from the pages of travel magazines—colorful cliffside houses, pebble beach, fashion and artisan hole-in-the-wall shops in steep and narrow streets, bougainvillea trellises, an imposing and storied church in the middle of it all...
To top it all, we got to spend some time in the beach for our very first dip in the waters of the western hemisphere.
This is a short video presentation of our walking tour at Positano in the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy watching.

Hotel Lancelot, Rome
TRAILER BY FIGLEAF PRODUCTIONS figleaf_productions@yahoo.co.uk
Hotel Lancelot offers the warmth and hospitality of a family run hotel. It is a charming and friendly three star hotel, and appeals to those visitors who appreciate a warm welcome and attentive personal service. Hospitality is our motto. For over half a century guests have sought the unique relaxed international atmosphere of the Lancelot.
Snugly tucked into a quiet green residential area, the Lancelot is a short stroll from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum - the centre of ancient imperial Rome. Many important historical and religious sites are within easy walking distance, and our staff will gladly help with suggestions for interesting itineraries and the best way to get about in Rome.
Hospitality is our Motto...
The Hotel Lancelot started life in the early '50s as a guest house founded by Major Woodcock and Countess Gravina and has been run by Mrs Khan and her family since 1970. In the mid-80s new common areas were added to include the lobby/reception, living rooms, dining hall, bar and garden patio areas. In the late '90s, an air conditioning system was installed and all rooms were refurbished to include en suite bathrooms, TV, safety boxes, and other amenities.
While improving the physical comfort for guests, attention has remained focused on providing high quality services that make each guest's stay at the Hotel Lancelot pleasant and memorable. The majority of Lancelot guests are return guests (they come back again and again!) or guests who have been recommended by someone who has stayed here. The Lancelot's reputation has increasingly been reflected by its recommendation in prestigious guidebooks and magazine articles.

Water Taxi Tour of the Grand Canal | Venice | Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
JUNE 14, 2015—We were on the middle of our Best of Italy Tour and our next destination was Venice. Upon arrival in Venice we boarded water taxis for a tour of the famous Grand Canal of Venice that will bring us all the way to Lido Island where we will be staying for the duration of the Venice leg of our tour.
It had been raining all day in Venice and about half of our Grand Canal Tour was under heavy downpour. The rain failed to damped our spirits, however, and instead it gave us a unique and heightened experience touring the Grand Canal.
This is a short slideshow video presentation of our photos during our tour/trip along the Grand Canal in Venice. Enjoy watching.

ALMOST DISASTROUS HIKE IN THE DOLOMITES (can’t believe this is Italy)
Best Venice day trip! We decided to drive to the Dolomites for a day in the mountains of Italy since we had never been before. It turned into a huge adventure for multiple reasons. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Siena's Famous Piazza del Campo | Siena, Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
On June 20, we did a walking tour of the distinctly gothic city of Siena. The main highlight of that walking tour is the famous Piazza del Campo.
Piazza del Campo is at the very center of the historic Italian city of Siena, in the Tuscany region of Italy, and is regarded as one of Europe's greatest medieval squares. It is renowned worldwide for its beauty and architectural integrity. The Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia, as well as various palazzi signorili surround the shell-shaped piazza. At the northwest edge is the Fonte Gaia. Twice a year the perimeter of the piazza is used for horse racing famously known as the Palio di Siena an ancient tradition that is still very much observed and practiced today.
This is a short slideshow video of our photos—and a short 360° video clip—at Piazza del Campo. Enjoy watching.

Hotel Amalfi
Hotel Amalfi is located in the heart of Amalfi, just a few steps from Cathedral of Amalfi. It is in a very convenient spot, as it’s very close the town square with its many restaurants, gellateries and shops. Close enough that you don’t feel the walk, but far enough that the hotel is nice and quiet. It’s a five minute walk to the beach, the piers with ferries to Capri, Positano and Salerno, etc.
A Tuscan Dinner at Casa Machiavelli | Florence, Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
ON OUR second and last evening in Florence we went for dinner at the famed residence and estate of the famous Italian Renaissance historian, politician, diplomat, philosopher, humanist, and writer: Niccolo Machiavelli.
Now re-purposed into a restaurant and a museum, Casa Machiavelli is on the hilly part of Florence, in the middle of beautiful and expansive vineyards and olive orchards.

The uniquely beautiful Siena Cathedral | Siena, Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
On June 20, we did a walking tour of the distinctly gothic city of Siena. The last and farthest point of this Walking Tour brought us to Duomo di Siena or the Siena Cathedral.
After having visited countless grand cathedrals all over Italy in the past 10 days it was easy for us to assume that there was nothing else to surprise us and that Siena Cathedral should be no different.
But we went to see it anyway. And boy, we were again proven wrong in our assumption.
Duomo di Siena has distinctly unique characteristics from its other grand counterparts in Rome and across Italy. Its stripe-painted columns make it feel more like a palace rather than a cathedral.
We even chanced upon a marching band that really took us by surprise because it actually entered the cathedral with booming drums, bugles, and all. It turns out we visited just as the week-long, twice-a-year Palio di Siena (horse race) was just commencing and the marching band is one of the traditional ceremonial processions. Too bad we did not have time to stay awhile to witness the blessing of the horses (right in front of the cathedral we were told) that would be participating in the race which was supposed to happen later that afternoon.
This is a short slideshow video of our photos in the uniquely beautiful Siena Cathedral. Enjoy watching.

“Oh, Sorrento!” A walking tour | Sorrento, Campania | Italy | We.Are.Wanderful
JUNE 11, 2015—From Pompei we proceeded to the beautiful, cliff-top city of Sorrento. A major port city and the gateway to the Isle of Capri, Sorrento has a distinct and pleasant provincial atmosphere. I can almost describe it as lazy although not in a derogatory sense. I guess the better word is relaxed.
Sorrento is known for exquisite and super expensive woodworks, olive orchards, huge lemons, and—of course—limoncello. Popular landmarks and tourists attractions include Piazza Tasso and Duomo di Sorrento.
This is a short slideshow video presentation of our photos during our walking tour in the city center of Sorrento. Enjoy watching.
