Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is a behind-the-scenes walking tour featuring authentic sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter film series.
Walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter and explore the wonders of the Wizarding World.
Serving as the backdrop to some of the film series’ most iconic scenes such as the Yule Ball and the Battle of Hogwarts, the Great Hall was first built for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2000 and was used as a key set for six more films. The spectacular Great Hall includes the costumes of students from each Hogwarts house plus two large tables which are set for dinner; at the top of the room is the teachers' table where the Hogwarts Professors sat. The Great Hall is home to some of the beautiful hand crafted props created for the Harry Potter film series including Professor Dumbledore’s lectern and the House Points Counter. Though rarely seen on screen, it is rumoured that when the House Points Counter was first built it caused a national shortage of Indian glass beads.
The Forbidden Forest seen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was a combination of location and studio shooting. This moved entirely to the Studio for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in order to house Aragog’s lair and continued to grow throughout the film series. While shooting for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, scenic artists created backdrops that were up to six hundred feet in length. The Forbidden Forest seen at the Studio Tour is filled with 19 trees each with a diameter of over 12 feet.
The Diagon Alley set constantly changed throughout the film series. Since its construction, walls have shifted, shop fronts have moved and entire buildings have been carefully tweaked, leaning just slightly, to create the street that is seen in the films. Many of the Diagon Alley set pieces were also re-dressed for use in the village of Hogsmeade for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The original design of the street combined the rich details from the Harry Potter books with inspiration from the streets described in the works of Charles Dickens. Diagon Alley is home to not only Gringotts Bank, Flourish and Blotts and Mr Mulpepper’s Apothecary but also the dusty Ollivanders wand shop, where Harry’s wand famously chose him. The shop was home to more than 17,000 individually labelled wand boxes during filming.

The Harry Potter Studio Tour - Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - FULL EXPERIENCE
The Making of Harry Potter
A Full tour around the Warner Bros. Studio Tour -- The making of Harry Potter at Leavesden Studios outside London.
On this tour I walk around all the sets beginning with the Great Hall including its costumes of Hogwarts students, two large tables which are set for dinner; the teachers' table where the Hogwarts Professors sat and statues featuring their costumes can be seen there.
It then follows the tour through the interior sets such as the iconic Potions Classroom, Gryffindor Common Room, DumbleDore's Office, Ministry of Magic fireplaces, Defence against the Dark Arts Classroom, The Burrow, Hagrid's Hut and many props such as the Goblet of Fire, Wands, Time Turner, Memory Cabinet, Broom Sticks, etc. In fact you name it and it is here.
Exterior sets such as number four, Privet Drive, Hogwarts Bridge, the Riddle family grave and the triple-decker purple Knight Bus are showcased in the Studio Tour's backlot -- it's also one of two places in the world where you can buy Butterbeer!
Then it is on to the more behind the scenes areas such
as the Creature Shop, Diagon Alley and the Model Room with its impressive scale model of Hogwarts before finally ending in the Studio Gift Shop.
The Harry Potter film series made Leavesden its home for more than ten years. As the books were still being released while the films were being made, the production crew saved many of the iconic sets, props and costumes that were created especially for the films - just in case they were ever needed later on in the series.
Once filming wrapped on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 in 2010, the production crew were left with a treasure trove of thousands of intricate and beautifully-made artefacts, many of which wouldn't have been saved on a typical production.
The team behind Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter wanted to preserve and showcase these iconic props, costumes and sets so that Harry Potter fans could experience the magic of filmmaking first-hand. Many of the original cast and crew returned to reassemble the sets and record their memories from filming, and on 31st March 2012, the Studio Tour opened its doors.
Set adjacent to the working film studios where all eight Harry Potter films were made, the Studio Tour offers visitors the unique opportunity to explore two soundstages and a backlot filled with original sets, animatronic creatures and breathtaking special effects.

The Making of Harry Potter - Warner Brothers Studio Tour London
Just outside of Watford, a suburb of London, England, there is an unassuming industrial park where magic takes place every day... Movie magic, that is. There, Warner Brothers owns a studio facility. A former de Havilland aircraft manufacturing facility, it was re-purposed as movie studios around 1994.
This video is merely a brief look at all the magic that awaits you at the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden.
In addition to all the other amazing details celebrating the magic of filmmaking, the color is much better in person! Due to all the low CRI L.E.D. lighting panels used to save energy, color reproduction with anything other than the human eye suffers. These particular LED panels reproduce an interrupted spectrum, so not all wavelength of light are reproduced by the instruments.
This is my vacation/holiday video. Someday I will just go and enjoy one of these without a camera...

Harry Potter Studio Tour, London - Warner Brothers Leavesden Studio, England
A complete tour around The Harry Potter Studio Tour, featuring sets, costumes, vehicles and props actually used in the film series. A fabulous place to visit for any fan of the Harry Potter films and books. The Studio is located at Leavesden, near Watford where all of the films were actually made. A really magical day out. This film covers the entire tour.
The best bits to see are well.. everything really but don’t miss Diagon Alley, Hogwarts Castle the Creature shop.
Ever watched the films and wondered how they did that? Well this is your chance to find out and see actual props used in the film series.
The Making of Harry Potter - The Warner Brothers Studio Tour at Leavesden Studios.
The queue for the tour starts in the lobby where you pass Harry’s bedroom in the under the stair’s cupboard. There follows a holding room where you see a brief film on video screens, before passing into a seated cinema for another short film introduced by the cast members showing some of the highlights from the series. At the end of the film a curtain rises to reveal the wooden doors which take you into the great hall at Hogwarts. This part of the tour is escorted by a guide who tells you some interesting facts about the films and set. Once you leave the hall the rest of the tour is self-paced.
The big room is packed with sets (including the Gryffindor common room and Dumbledore’s office), props and costumes from the films. There is a section on how they used green screen special effects in the films. You can also ride a broomstick in the green screen experience. At the end of the room you enter a large set depicting platform 9 ¾, including the original Hogwart’s Express and carriages, which you can walk along. There are also photo opportunities where you can pose with a luggage trolley on Platform 9 ¾ as it disappears through the station’s yellow brick wall.
Time for some refreshments in the cafe, try some butterbeer perhaps? The exterior sets follow where you can visit 4 Privet Drive, walk across the Hogwart’s bridge, sit in the Ford Anglia or have your picture taken on the Knight bus. My film features a walk-through the Dursley’s house.
Into the Creature Shop where you can see the special effects used to create the goblins, creatures and other effects that made the series so magical. This section includes some fascinating moving anamatronics and a video with Warwick Davies.
Your tour continues along the cobbled stones of Diagon Alley, for some window shopping. Very atmospheric, great lighting and the attention to detail is amazing. Next there are some displays showing the design work in creating the films, from plans, to models, to concept art.
The finale is the 1: 24 scale model of Hogwarts used for the exterior shots in the films. A massive model which will take your breath away as you walk around it. Just time for a bit of gift shopping in the souvenir shop where you can buy everything from wands, scarves, clothing and sweets.
My film takes you on a tour throughout the studio. If you want to see some of the rooms featured in the tour in more detail then check out some of the other films on my channel.
Tips: Arrive early, relax and grab a coffee in the cafe. Your time in the great hall is limited to look around and take as many photos in the time available. You can go at your own pace in the rest of the rooms. You must try the butterbeer. Green-screen photos are extra and there is plenty to buy in the gift-shop so come prepared. Apart from the backlot everything else is undercover so your trip will not be affected by the weather, as long as it doesn’t rain during your walk around the backlot.
I hope you enjoyed my film and please continue your virtual tour of the studio by watching some of the other films on my channel featuring the rest of the sets and props at the studio.

Warner Bros. Studios Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is a public attraction in Leavesden in southeastern England. Not to be confused with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter of Universal Studios theme parks, it is a permanent exhibit offering an authentic behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Harry Potter films. It is situated inside Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden in Leavesden, near Watford, in southwest Hertfordshire. Though the studios are still active, the tour is actually contained in two soundstages, J and K, and is kept separate from the rest of the complex.
Warner Bros. Studios Tour London is quite possibly the only permanent filmmaking exhibit of its size in the world. It opened to the public in 2012 and since then has welcomed up to 6,000 visitors a day during peak times. TripAdvisor reported that Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter has been the highest-rated attraction worldwide every year since the tour opened.
