Romeo & Juliet Shakespeare in the Square Warren Civic Theatre.mov
For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
Warren Civic Theatre to present the greatest love story of all time, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, live at City Square Park on May 26th and 27th in Warren.
Bringing these beloved historical characters to life sends shivers down my spine, says Clinton Township resident Melanie Whalen who portrays Petra a servant to the Capulets. Whalen has been involved with the Warren Civic Theatre for the past 4 years. It is amazing how our leads make you believe that they are the actual characters.
I have updated the time frame when the play takes place from the late 1500's set in Verona Italy to the present day set on the dividing line between Detroit and Grosse Pointe in a fictional park named Verona, says Shelby Township resident Yasmine Jaffri, director of Romeo and Juliet. Jaffri holds a B.F.A. in Theatre from the University of Detroit and a M.F.A. in Directing from the Columbia University's School of Fine Arts, Film Division. The most important reason for this update is so the audience can better understand the long blood war between the two warring families.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. It is among Shakespeare's most popular archetypal stories of young, teenage lovers.
Young love is much stronger than people give it credit, says Wayne State theatre student Taylor Morrow who portrays Juliet. Morrow was last seen on the WCT stage as a Silly Girl in last year's Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. and has been involved with fifteen productions at WCT. Discrediting young love is harmful to a young person, she adds.
Warren Civic Theatre was started by Greg Trzaskoma in the summer of 1990 as a children's theatre workshop in the gym at Ridgewood Recreation Center with about a dozen children. By 1994, they grew to encompass about 60 members and they staged their first production in the auditorium of the Warren Community Center. WCT is sponsored by WOW! Internet Cable Telephone and The City of Warren Department of Parks and Recreation.
This is our third year in a row to present Shakespeare in the Square, says Trzaskoma, a Warren resident and Artistic Director of WCT. This year we will have guest speakers before each performance made possible through the generous assistance of the Warren Cultural Commission. Saturday's speaker is Janice L. Blixt, Artistic Director of the Michigan Shakespeare Festival and Sunday we will have John Michael Manfredi, fight choreographer and owner of Etico Productions.
Performances will be held in the City Square Park in front of Warren City Hall. Guest speakers start at 6:00pm, Curtain is 6:30 pm on Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27th. Ticket prices are only $5.00 per person, and are on sale now at the Warren Community Center. Call 586-268-8400 to purchase tickets, seating is limited. Visit our new website, warrencivic.org for the most updated information on show times and ticket availability and follow us on Facebook at The Warren Civic Theatre (In case of rain, the show will be held in the Atrium of Warren City Hall).

Pisces Project 2013- A Swim Complex for Norman, OK
What's the latest in Norman swimming and our mission to get a year-round aquatics complex for Norman? Find out in the Pisces Project Summer 2013 newsletter:
Let's cover Norman with the Let's Build a Pool in Norman signs. Email us at info@piscesproject.org or piscesproject@cox.net to get yours!
Please, please, please continue to e-mail your council person and school board. Ask for updates from him or her and get everyone you know to do the same. We NEED a pool for Norman. You'll find updated lists in our newsletter.
Our Vision: Swimming benefits the entire community. It is the one sport that is appropriate for all ages and abilities. With a year-round facility, safe and fun recreation is available to individuals and to families. An indoor aquatics facilities can offer swimming lessons to young children, school-age children, and even adults--making everybody safer in the water and reducing the likelihood of drowning.
Communities with year-round aquatic facilities have seen its effect in increasing property values. This keeps both school districts and communities comparable with others.
Swimming isn't just for our children or our schools, it's for everyone. Throughout the U.S., schools and communities are joining together to provide aquatic facilities. Huron Valley Schools in Highland, Michigan served approximately 11,000 students when the two high schools opened their indoor pools to the community. People in the community now have a place for recreational swimming and water fitness while the school district earns a little extra money. The aquatic facilities and fitness facilities were built through school bond issues.
In California, the City of Bakersfield and the Kern High School District partnered for a new public swimming pool. And in Bowling Green, Kentucky, an eight-lane pool with a capacity for 104 people in the stands and more than 500 around the deck opened at T.C. Cherry Elementary School. The Warren County Academic and Aquatic Center was opened to both students and the public. Previously, high school swimmers had to rent three lanes from Western Kentucky University for more than 50 swimmers.
We believe the Norman community deserves a year-round community aquatics facility for students, competitive swimmers, recreational swimmers, and our senior population.
AP Queen Lillian Medical Office Building / WSU School of Medicine / Jenkins Construction
Officials from the city of Detroit, the state and Wayne State University celebrated the launch of a new medical office building that will become the home of the WSU Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences.
The ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Wayne State University Medical Office Building at Tolan Park took place June 15. The site is north of Mack Avenue on the east side of Beaubien.
Queen Lillian LLC, a Detroit-based architectural firm, has started construction of the new building. The offices also will house a portion of the WSU School of Medicine's Internal Medicine Department.
The five-story medical office building is going up on 2.7 acres adjacent to Tolan Park. The site provides a strategic location within the medical area of Midtown, with close proximity to the WSU School of Medicine campus and the hospitals of the Detroit Medical Center.
Located across Beaubien from Children's Hospital of Michigan, the $18 million project will result in 62,846 square feet of new office space. The developers anticipate the building will be completed in January 2013.
Being a Detroiter, I want to be part of the city's resurgence, said Christopher Jackson, who, with Jim Jenkins, is one of the two principals of Queen Lillian LLC. I wanted to invest in Midtown, and this project will add millions to the city's tax base, which will produce long-term growth for Detroit. Large corporations such as the Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Health System and Dan Gilbert see the opportunities and potential. There are many opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to take part and make a difference.
Wayne State University will lease the building from Queen Lillian LLC for a 25-year period. At the end of that term, the university will have the option to purchase the building for a $1 payment.
Valerie M. Parisi, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., dean of the School of Medicine, noted that the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences is now housed in older buildings on Larned, east of Interstate-75, separated from the medical campus. When this building is completed, they'll be home, and have a real, physical presence on the campus of the medical school, and on Midtown's medical campus, she said. This new building also will be more convenient for our patients, who often are first seen at one of the hospitals in the Detroit Medical Center system. Queen Lillian has promised a beautiful new edifice, one that will bring more construction jobs to the city, will further complement the growing Midtown area and that will add to the revitalization of Detroit. I'm sure they will deliver, and we are proud to be a part of that effort.
Jackson said the project is expected to create approximately 280 construction jobs.
The design of the building will incorporate essential considerations specific to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, including state-of-the-art telecommunications technology systems designed for future flexibility and expansion.
The building will be constructed in a manner that will allow it to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, including initiatives to conserve natural resources, reduce operating costs and improve employee productivity and satisfaction. LEED certification is achieved by meeting specific requirements in five environmental categories -- site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
It is appropriate and timely that we inaugurated a new building for the Wayne State University School of Medicine that, among other things, will be used to house the Department of Psychiatry, said David Rosenberg, M.D., interim chair of the department. It is appropriate because we have entered a new era in modern biological psychiatry. The department is grateful to Dean Parisi, Ken Lee (vice dean of Business Affairs) and the School of Medicine for its confidence in our department and for recognizing our need to keep pace with the rapid developments in our field.
This modern facility will allow us to gather in and house the various components of our department, Dr. Rosenberg added. It will also enable us to be more efficient in our research, teaching and service to the community and patients and family we serve. We pledge to devote ourselves to justifying the confidence placed in our department and demonstrating that the investment the School of Medicine is making in supporting our department and the Tolan Park building was a very wise decision.
Jenkins Construction, a Detroit-based contractor and construction manager, is serving as construction manager for the project. The firm has a successful track record of completing projects for Wayne State University, including the Welcome Center at the corner of Woodward and Warren Avenue and the nearby parking deck on Cass Avenue.

Pennsylvania is the 33rd-largest state by area, and the 6th-most populous state according to the last official U.S. Census count in 2010. It is the 9th-most densely populated of the 50 states. Pennsylvania's two most populous cities are Philadelphia (1,567,872), and Pittsburgh (303,625). The state capital and its 10th largest city is Harrisburg. Pennsylvania has 140 miles (225 km) of waterfront along Lake Erie and the Delaware Estuary.The state is one of the 13 original founding states of the United States; it came into being in 1681 as a result of a royal land grant to William Penn, the son of the state's namesake. Part of Pennsylvania (along the Delaware River), together with the present State of Delaware, had earlier been organized as the Colony of New Sweden. It was the second state to ratify the United States Constitution, on December 12, 1787. Independence Hall, where the United States Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution were drafted, is located in the state's largest city of Philadelphia. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg was fought in the south central region of the state. Valley Forge near Philadelphia was General Washington's headquarters during the bitter winter of 1777–78.

Ohio (listen) is a Midwestern state in the Great Lakes region of the United States. Of the fifty states, it is the 34th largest by area, the seventh most populous, and the tenth most densely populated. The state's capital and largest city is Columbus.
The state takes its name from the Ohio River, whose name in turn originated from the Seneca word ohiːyo', meaning good river, great river or large creek. Partitioned from the Northwest Territory, Ohio was the 17th state admitted to the Union on March 1, 1803, and the first under the Northwest Ordinance. Ohio is historically known as the Buckeye State after its Ohio buckeye trees, and Ohioans are also known as Buckeyes.The government of Ohio is composed of the executive branch, led by the Governor; the legislative branch, which comprises the bicameral Ohio General Assembly; and the judicial branch, led by the state Supreme Court. Ohio occupies 16 seats in the United States House of Representatives. Ohio is known for its status as both a swing state and a bellwether in national elections. Six Presidents of the United States have been elected who had Ohio as their home state.

SUMMARY
=======
A timeline of United States inventions (1946–1991) encompasses the ingenuity and innovative advancements of the United States within a historical context, dating from the era of the Cold War, which have been achieved by inventors who are either native-born or naturalized citizens of the United States. Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress:
In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law which proclaimed that patents were to be authorized for any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used. On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Pittsford, Vermont became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent for an improved method of Making Pot and Pearl Ashes. The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. However, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act of 1994 (URAA) changed the patent term in the United States to a total of 20 years, effective for patent applications filed on or after June 8, 1995, thus bringing United States patent law further into conformity with international patent law. The modern-day provisions of the law applied to inventions are laid out in Title 35 of the United States Code (Ch. 950, sec. 1, 66 Stat. 792).
From 1836 to 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a total of 7,861,317 patents relating to several well-known inventions appearing throughout the timeline below. Some examples of patented inventions between the years 1946 and 1991 include William Shockley's transistor (1947), John Blankenbaker's personal computer (1971), Vinton Cerf's and Robert Kahn's Internet protocol/TCP (1973), and Martin Cooper's mobile phone (1973).

SUMMARY
=======
New England is a geographical region comprising six states of the northeastern United States: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. It is bordered by the state of New York to the west and by the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec to the northeast and north, respectively. The Atlantic Ocean is to the east and southeast, and Long Island Sound is to the south. Boston is New England's largest city as well as the capital of Massachusetts. The largest metropolitan area is Greater Boston with nearly a third of the entire region's population, which also includes Worcester, Massachusetts (the second-largest city in New England), Manchester, New Hampshire (the largest city in New Hampshire), and Providence, Rhode Island (the capital and largest city of Rhode Island).
In 1620, Puritan Separatist Pilgrims from England established Plymouth Colony, the second successful English settlement in America, following the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia founded in 1607. Ten years later, more Puritans established Massachusetts Bay Colony north of Plymouth Colony. Over the next 126 years, people in the region fought in four French and Indian Wars, until the English colonists and their Iroquois allies defeated the French and their Algonquin allies in America. In 1692, the town of Salem, Massachusetts and surrounding areas experienced the Salem witch trials, one of the most infamous cases of mass hysteria in history.In the late 18th century, political leaders from the New England colonies initiated resistance to Britain's taxes without the consent of the colonists. Residents of Rhode Island captured and burned a British ship which was enforcing unpopular trade restrictions, and residents of Boston threw British tea into the harbor. Britain responded with a series of punitive laws stripping Massachusetts of self-government which were termed the Intolerable Acts by the colonists. These confrontations led to the first battles of the American Revolutionary War in 1775 and the expulsion of the British authorities from the region in spring 1776. The region played a prominent role in the movement to abolish slavery in the United States, and was the first region of the U.S. transformed by the Industrial Revolution, centered on the Blackstone and Merrimack river valleys.
The physical geography of New England is diverse for such a small area. Southeastern New England is covered by a narrow coastal plain, while the western and northern regions are dominated by the rolling hills and worn-down peaks of the northern end of the Appalachian Mountains. The Atlantic fall line lies close to the coast, which enabled numerous cities to take advantage of water power along the numerous rivers, such as the Connecticut River, which bisects the region from north to south.
Each state is subdivided into small incorporated municipalities known as towns, many of which are governed by town meetings. The only unincorporated areas exist in the sparsely populated northern regions of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. New England is one of the Census Bureau's nine regional divisions and the only multi-state region with clear, consistent boundaries. It maintains a strong sense of cultural identity, although the terms of this identity are often contrasted, combining Puritanism with liberalism, agrarian life with industry, and isolation with immigration.

SUMMARY
=======
Jacksonville is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Florida and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. It is the seat of Duval County, with which the city government consolidated in 1968. Consolidation gave Jacksonville its great size and placed most of its metropolitan population within the city limits. With an estimated population of 892,062 as of 2017, Jacksonville is also the most populous city in the southeastern United States. The Jacksonville metropolitan area has a population of 1,631,488 and is the fourth largest in Florida.Jacksonville is centered on the banks of the St. Johns River in the First Coast region of northeast Florida, about 25 miles (40 km) south of the Georgia state line and 340 miles (550 km) north of Miami. The Jacksonville Beaches communities are along the adjacent Atlantic coast. The area was originally inhabited by the Timucua people, and in 1564 was the site of the French colony of Fort Caroline, one of the earliest European settlements in what is now the continental United States. Under British rule, settlement grew at the narrow point in the river where cattle crossed, known as Wacca Pilatka to the Seminole and the Cow Ford to the British. A platted town was established there in 1822, a year after the United States gained Florida from Spain; it was named after Andrew Jackson, the first military governor of the Florida Territory and seventh President of the United States.
Harbor improvements since the late 19th century have made Jacksonville a major military and civilian deep-water port. Its riverine location facilitates Naval Station Mayport, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, the U.S. Marine Corps Blount Island Command, and the Port of Jacksonville, Florida's third largest seaport. Jacksonville's military bases and the nearby Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay form the third largest military presence in the United States. Significant factors in the local economy include services such as banking, insurance, healthcare and logistics. As with much of Florida, tourism is important to the Jacksonville area, particularly tourism related to golf. People from Jacksonville may be called Jacksonvillians or Jaxsons (also spelled Jaxons).
