Deck the Halls: Holidays at the White House
In partnership with the White House Historical Association, join us as Tim Gunn of Project Runway leads a panel discussion on White House holiday decorations through history. Over the years, first families and White House staff have adorned the White House for the holiday season with decorations that evoke the holiday spirit and reflect the times. Panelists—including Lynda Johnson Robb, daughter of President Johnson; Genevieve Gorder, host of HGTV’s White House Christmas; former White House Chief Usher Gary Walters; and Coleen Christian Burke, author of Christmas with the First Ladies—will present a visual feast of the themes, designs, and processes that go into decking the halls, rooms, and exterior of the White House. The official 2014 White House Christmas Ornament, featuring President Warren G. Harding, will be available for purchase. A book signing will follow the program. Presented in conjunction with our Making Their Mark Through Signatures exhibit, which is made possible in part by the Foundation for the National Archives with the generous support of Lead Sponsor AT&T. Major additional support provided by the Lawrence F. O'Brien Family and members of the Board of the Foundation for the National Archives.

Video of 182 Meetinghouse Road | Bedford New Hampshire real estate & homes by Steve MacDougall
Enjoy residential bliss and enviable luxuriousness in this exquisite compound style estate on 5.6 acres of completely private, exceptionally landscaped and irrigated grounds in highly desirable Bedford, New Hampshire. Upon arrival, one is instantly awed by the magnificent hand built walls constructed of massive native New Hampshire granite slabs. The double gated entrances open with a warm invitation to one of the most spectacular and unique properties in New Hampshire and New England. A tranquil refuge in the city, yet just minutes from the freeway and only 7 minutes from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and not on any runway flight path.
The estate was built in 1987 sparing no expense for an estimated $5M using only the finest materials and craftsmanship from local and European Artisans. An additional 1 million was spent in 1988 by it’s second owner. This compound consists of a Main House, a Guest House, and 2 detached garage buildings complete with a car wash and parking for over 11 vehicles. There is also a 1 bedroom efficiency apartment over one of the garages.
Lounging and entertaining doesn’t get much better than the crown jewel of the home - the expansive outdoor courtyard area featuring a 27000 gallon saltwater Gunite pool, saltwater hot tub, outdoor grilling kitchen and a custom fire pit with seating for at least 8 people, connected by numerous decks and bluestone and brick patios for your enjoyment. Mature landscaping and custom built rock walls from native New Hampshire granite surround the entire perimeter of the private courtyard - the perfect spot to entertain or seek serenity and relaxation from the outside world. Several speakers are integrated into the landscape.
Today, the main house consists of approximately 8400 sq ft with over 5200 sq feet finished. The home’s custom contemporary design gives you a feel of openness and brightness through the use of high ceilings and oversize windows throughout. The building is steel frame construction with 10 foot ceilings covered with Alba white oak, multiple marble/granite fireplaces, mahogany trim with elm-burl inserts, the Zelluck custom mahogany windows and European custom doors.
The sunken media room features an integrated 60” television.
The large, black, gas burning marble fireplace is the centerpiece of the family room.
The newly renovated kitchen comes complete with commercial grade appliances, and is just steps to the outdoor grilling kitchen in the courtyard for indoor and outdoor entertaining in the summer months. A Mexican style corner fireplace and greenhouse style windows accent the breakfast area.
The 2nd level was originally the Master Bedroom suite with twin private baths and a home office, but the current owners opted to modify the floor plan to include a 2nd bedroom for parents. There's a private elevator from his master bathroom down to his personal 1st level office, featuring beautiful inlaid hardwood flooring and details that must be seen to be truly appreciated.
Take the spiral staircase to a 2000+ bottle wine cellar designed in a European manner with a tasting room along with a cedar closet and a walk in, bank style vault.
The Guest House is a fully functional, 2900 square foot, 4 bedroom, 2 3/4 bath home with a custom kitchen and multipurpose media and billiard room overlooking the pool courtyard. The lower level features two changing rooms with separate doors to the outside pool area.
This uniqueness of this home is only limited by the imagination of the next owner. The Guest house could easily serve as the Main House for the younger family while extended family enjoys the 1 or 2 bedroom layout of the Main House.
Consider the benefits of being able to offer temporary lush private Housing to business consultants on short term assignments, or temporary housing for professional new hires transferring in to your company. This could provide a stress free, seamless transition for their whole family while they secure their own permanent housing.
Bedford is only an hours drive north to the Lakes Region, South to Boston, or east to the Seacoast, making it the perfect hub. Secure permits to allow a heliport in one of several areas suitable for personal helicopter use.
Use the efficiency apartment over the garage for the grounds keeper, mechanic for the car collection or au pair suite.
With garage storage for over 11 automobiles, for the car restorer and collector there's 400 amp, 3 phase service on the property.
Live the life of distinction in this breathtaking, one of a kind compound. You owe it to yourself to take a look to see how this home can work for you.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook

To fully explore and understand the ocean, we can no longer rely on a handful of large, expensive research vessels and vehicles. We truly need all hands on deck to do it.
On November 8-9, 2018, we brought together leaders and changemakers in ocean exploration, entertainment, recreation, and art to imagine new ways to empower an open, inclusive global community of ocean explorers. Our goal is to imagine creative ways to make the ocean so pervasive in modern culture that everyone has a positive association with and understanding of the sea.

Master of the 'Man Weave' Gives Balding Men Confidence
At the end of 2017, the black hair care industry in the U.S. was worth $4.2 billion, according to Nielsen, with black shoppers spending $473 million on their hair. That huge spend is getting even bigger thanks to a new option for men with hair loss: man weaves.
Man weaves, or male units, are exploding in popularity, filling the chairs and wallets of the talented few barbers who have cornered the market.
John Cotton works at Leona Wilson Salon on 45th Street in Midtown Manhattan. He is one of the talented few helping men make the transformation. He is known for styling designer Virgil Abloh, billionaire Robert Smith, Jussie Smollett from Empire, and Jay Pharaoh of Saturday Night Live. Now he is getting attention for giving men their hair back.
John started doing man weaves about two years ago. He charges $300 to $700 for weaves that last anywhere from one to four months. The longer-lasting weaves require maintenance every two to three weeks, which runs $75 to $100.
John says his clients are thinning or balding, have receding hairlines, or have had cancer. He says he gives them their confidence back with hair. So much confidence that John is doing man weaves around the clock. A lot of days, he is at the salon doing weaves back-to-back-to-back from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
And the results are pretty impressive. The day we visited, John's client was absolutely speechless when he saw the end result. John says that seeing guys leave with a full head of hair—and knowing he did it—is the most exciting part.
