Dieser Tempel ist ein echter Geheimtipp, denn obwohl er wirklich schön ist und man von hier eine fantastische Aussicht hat, wird er nur wenig besucht. Dies mag vielleicht auch daran liegen, dass es gar nicht so leicht ist zum Tempel zu gelangen, denn die Zufahrtsstraße ist mitunter sehr steil. Aber der Weg lohnt sich.

Nach dem Besuch dieses Tempels kannst du dir noch die Laem Sor Pagoda anschauen, die nicht weit entfernt vom Wat Khao Chedi Tempel ist.

The sitting mummifield monk in Koh Samui Thailand (Wat Khunaram)

The most famous monk in Koh Samui - Loung Pordaeng.

When he reached the age of 79, Loung Pordaeng is said to have predicted the day of his own death.

He instructed his followers that if his body would decay, he wanted to be cremated. If the body would not decompose however, he wanted his body to be kept in a glass casket in the temple to serve as an inspiration for future generations to follow the teachings of the Buddha.

It is believed that the last week of Loung Pordaeng’s life, he did not eat, drink or speak to anyone while meditating. Finally, he died in 1973 at the age of 79 while meditating.

Because the eyeballs have dried out which is an unpretty sight, the mummified body is now wearing sunglasses.

Dieser Tempel liegt im Südosten der Insel, nicht weit vom Mumifizierten Mönch und dem Guan Yu Schrein entfernt. Mit seiner vollkommen roten Färbung zählt er zu den außergewöhnlichsten Tempel der Insel. Nicht nur deshalb lohnt sich ein Besuch.
