The Marble Temple (Wat Benchamabophit) - Bangkok, Thailand
by: yaung bisdak
Hello Guys! My name is Yaung. I am from Cebu City, Philippines and is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Wat Benchamabophit, also known as “the marble temple” or Wat Ben. It is classified as a first class Royal Temple.
The official name of the temple is Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram, which means “the Monastery of the fifth King near Dusit Palace”. The fifth King being King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V).
The marble temple was designed by Prince Narisara Nuvativongse, half brother of King Chulalongkorn. It is build from carrara marble imported from Italy, hence the name marble temple.
Inside the ordination hall you will find the main Buddha image of the marble temple, the Phra Buddha Chinnarat displaying the subduing Mara mudra with a beautiful illuminated blue background. The ashes of King Rama V are buried under the bronze Buddha statue.
How to get to the Wat Benchamabophit:
The Wat Benchamabophit is located on the intersection of Thanon Rama V and Thanon Si Ayutthaya. Since there is no BTS Skytrain or MRT Subway station nearby, the best way to get there is by metered taxi from Phaya Thai BTS Station.
Admission & opening hours:
The temple is open daily from 8 am until 5:30 pm. Admission is 50 Thai Baht. As in any temple please dress appropriately, especially since this is one of the temples of highest importance in the country.

Thailand, Bangkok: Wat Intharawihan, A walk around the temple of the standing Buddha
The Wat Intharawihan or Wat Indravihan is a Buddhist temple complex close to the Chao Phraya river famous for its enormous standing Buddha image.
The temple itself predates the founding of Bangkok in 1782 and was originally named Wat Rai Phrik. During the reign of King Rama I the temple was restored and renamed Wat Intharam.
The massive standing Buddha which is called Luang Pho To or Phra Si Ariyametri dominates the area with its 32 meters height and 10 meters width.
Construction of the Buddha image started in 1867 during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV) and it took 60 years for it to be completed in 1927. The serene looking Buddha image is holding an alms bowl, that monks still use today when they go out in the streets early morning to receive food from lay people.
During the reign of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) in the early 20th century, after being renovated the temple received its present name of Wat Intharawihan.
In 1964 and 1967, the current King of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Queen Sirikit and their children covered the forehead and the topknot of the Luang Pho To image with gold leaves.
Thailand: Bangkok - Wat Phra Keaw & The Royal Palace
Close to the river and at the heart of the old city of Bangkok is Wat Phra Kaew lying within the grounds of The Grand Palace.
This is a must see whenever I am in Bangkok. Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, also officially known as Wat Sri Rattana Satsadaram is the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand. The temple enshrines the Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the highly revered Buddha image, carved from a single block of jade. The Phra Putta Maha Mani Ratana Patimakorn is a Buddha image in the meditating position dating from the 15th century.....legend holds that the statue originated in India and is quite small in size. The image is raised high on a series of platforms and no one is allowed near the Buddha, except HM the King. A seasonal cloak, changed three times a year to correspond with the summer, winter and rainy season covers the statue. The changing of the robe is performed by the monarch to bring good fortune to the country during
each season..........
The Temple dates to 1785, the year the capital was moved from Thonburi to Bangkok. Strangely, though, the temple does not have any resident monks nor living quarters for them; this is a show piece of holy buildings statues and pagodas......

Travel to Wat Saket the Golden Mount Bangkok Thailand (Sabahan Youtuber Vlog)
In this video, I and my wife travel to Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan (วัดสระเกศราชวรมหาวิหาร) usually shortened to Wat Saket is a Buddhist temple (wat) in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, Bangkok, Thailand.
The temple grounds feature mature trees and typical Buddhist structures such as the main chapel, ordination hall and library. Its origins can be traced back to the Ayutthaya period (1350- 1767 AD) and it underwent major renovations during King Rama I’s reign (1782-1809).
To get to the top requires a climb up some 300 steps, which encircle the chedi like a loosely coiled snake. The path is well-paved and the climb relatively easy if you avoid going at midday or during peak summer months.

Known also as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, its official name is Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhlaram Ratchaworamahawihan. Ayutthaya Historical City Wat Chaiwatthanaram | ONE OF THE GRANDEST RUINS OF THAILAND
Wat Chai Watthanaram was one of the grandest and most monumental ruins of Ayutthaya. It's one of Ayutthaya's best known temples and a major tourist attraction of Thailand. It's a restored ruin situated off the city island in the western area. It's a MUST VISIT place if you will go to Thailand.
Location: Address: Ban Pom, อำเภอ เมืองพระนครศรีอยุธยา Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13000
It's around 2 hours from Bangkok. It's not only for taking photos but it's better if a Thai can tell you the story behind this ruin. It will make your visit more interesting.
Spoiler: There's a funny thing there, when I tried to make fun of my wife and her friends and suddenly the umbrella almost fell in the river. Look at the reaction of her. It's also a MUST SEE! lol
