Westerly, Rhode Island
Westerly is a town on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. Founded in 1669 by John Babcock, it is a beachfront community on the south shore of the state. The population was 22,787 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Norwich–New London, Connecticut, New England city and town area.
On the western border of Westerly flows the Pawcatuck River, once renowned for its own species of Westerly salmon, three of which are on the town's crest. The Pawcatuck River flows from some fifteen miles inland, emptying into Little Narragansett Bay. The Pawcatuck River also serves as the boundary between Westerly and Pawcatuck, Connecticut. Along the coast of Westerly lie salt ponds, which serve as shallow reeflike pools, whose outer walls form the long, white beaches for which the town became renowned. From west to east, these ponds are called Maschaug Pond, Winnapaug Pond, and Quonochontaug Pond. The town also has a fresh water lake, Chapman's Pond, which is undergoing revitalization. A type of granite, known as Westerly granite, has long been quarried here. Westerly granite, ideal for statuary, has been used in numerous government buildings of several states along the eastern seaboard. The Westerly area was known for its granite and stone-cutting industry.

Misquamicut beach, Rhode Island, USA
misquamicut beach during summer located at rhode island in usa. It's a beautiful beach with nice ocean waves and relaxing ocean sounds. One of good place for surfers to dive in the fun. This beach has nice unbounded water not like connecticut's bounded water beaches. It is a clean beach with no trashes and there are some little stones on it. But fun place with nice restaurants.

Weekapaug Inn (Westerly, Rhode Island)
Relaxed seaside getaway in a rambling, restored shingle-style building tucked behind sheltering dunes and bordering a saltwater pond. The inn houses 27 rooms and four two-bedroom Signature Suites and has the feel of a much-loved beach house, welcoming and congenial, with pastel hues, fine woodwork, a mixed collection of local art, marble-accented baths and views out to the water. A spacious great room provides inviting sitting areas, a woodburning fireplace and a screened porch. Lovely restaurant has windows galore; an exercise room is adjacent to the seasonal outdoor lap pool and sundeck with Jacuzzi. A boardwalk leads to an undeveloped, private two-mile sandy beach. Lawn games, naturalist-led walks and boating.

Finding Fort Mansfield, Westerly RI
I absolutely love the beach and the feelings of peace it evokes and this explore definitely fed that desire to be near water even if it was only about 30 degrees out. The fort is located at the very end of a long sandbar, about a mile and a half walk one way. The fort isn’t one of the largest I have seen yet still incredible to see. I just may have enjoyed the trip to get here as much as the destination. Get up, get out and as always..... Happy Exploring ????
Fort Mansfield was a coastal artillery installation located on Napatree Point, a long barrier beach in the village of Watch Hill. Part of Harbor Defenses of Long Island Sound
Coordinates

Built 1901
Built by United States Army
In use 1901-1917
Fort Mansfield was one of numerous coastal artillery installations constructed in the Harbor Defenses of Long Island Sound as part of the coastal defense network for New York City. It was named in honor of Joseph K. Mansfield (1803–1862), who served as an engineer officer during the Mexican War and was eventually promoted to Inspector General of the Army; as a general, he was killed at the Battle of Antietam in the Civil War.
When the fort was first manned in 1901, it was considered a sub-post of Fort Trumbull in New London, Connecticut. But when the fort was fully manned in 1902, its status changed to an independent battery. The fort’s main armament consisted of Battery Wooster, two 8-inch M1888 disappearing guns; Battery Crawford, two 5-inch M1897 guns on balanced pillar carriages; and Battery Connell, two 5-inch M1900 guns on pedestal mounts.
