For those planning on visiting, those who’d like to visit but cannot or those who might be nostalgic and want to re-live their past visits / life there, hopefully this film shall satisfy, time and time again.
I live only 2 hours away from this gorgeous place. This film doesn't do the place justice.
Filmed in August 2014.

Waterton Lakes National Park
Recorded July 21, 2014
Waterton Lakes National Park is a national park located in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada, and borders Glacier National Park in Montana. Rugged, windswept mountains rise abruptly out of gentle prairie grassland.
From:
Red Rock Canyon, Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada
Beautiful drive. You can see bears and elk if you're lucky. Red Rock Canyon Visitors Centre at the end of the road with lots of parking. Drive is about 10 miles, one way, all paved with numerous pullouts to stop and enjoy the spectacular views. End of parkway is Red Rock Canyon parking with nice quick walk along the river with exposed red rocks on each side, easy to do in 30 minutes if you are pressed for time, but serene enough to stay and relax for longer. Easily accessible and plenty of photo opps. Must admit it is great for the kids. There are longer hikes but often the longer hikes are closed due to bears in the area.
On the road too and back, If you are lucky enough to see a bear, be prepared for what they call a bear jam. Whenever you stop people slow down to see what you are looking at. If you go in September or October should be able see the elk. They gather in a large area for what is referred to as the elk rut and bugling. Anyone in the area can tell you where they are.
I have several more Waterton and Banff National Park HD photo tours at my mikeminnesota-youtube channel. Close to over 200 travel photovideos from Norway, Out West to Alaska.
EP.15: Glacier National Park - Montana, Waterton Lakes National Park - Canada
Our visit to Waterton Lakes - Glacier National Park was the first time we'd been there in 19 years. We found some dramatic changes and some not so dramatic changes. the landforms, lakes and streams were just as beautiful as they were 19 years ago, but the crowds made the experience less than ideal. There were many trailheads that were totally out of parking each time we tried and we were never able to stop at the Logan Pass visitor center as there were cars parked for hundreds of yards in either direction from the entrance. This also prevented us from taking the Highline Trail hike as there was no place to park. Glacier will always be special to us, but we hope our next visit will be less hectic.
The Frank Landslide of 1903 was Canada's deadliest landslide. On the morning of April 29, 1903 a 1,400' high wall of rock from Turtle Mountain plunged from the summit. The southeast part of Frank, Alberta along with two miles of railroad, a coal mine and the homes of 100 people disappeared beneath from 50 to 150 feet of rock.

Hiking Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada⛰???? - Bear's Hump Mountain
This hike is perfect for families with small children. It can be done anywhere from 30-45 minutes. I'm pretty sure our five year old was the first one to make it to the top… unlike his mom ???? Its a good thing my husband carried our 2 year old 32Lbs. baby otherwise I wouldn't have made it to the top!???? This is a fun hike and afterwards you can go enjoy the village, it has a spray park, a movie theatre, restaurants, the freezing cold lake, nice walking areas, small shops, bike rentals and my personal favourite ice cream shops!???????????? Unfortunately, the wildfires made it into Waterton and burned down the Visitor's Centre, but at least the village or the Prince of Wales Hotel didn't burn. Phew!

Hike From Glacier National Park to Waterton Lakes National Park
This was the last day of my 40 mile hike from Logan Pass visitor center in Glacier National Park to Water Lakes National Park in Alberta Canada. Here I am crossing the Border.
Crandell Loop - Waterton Lakes National Park
The trail around Crandell Mountain in Waterton Lakes National Park can be accessed from three different trailheads. It is mountain bike friendly and passes by a small and beautiful lake.
The trailhead off of the Akamina Parkway is one of the more popular trailheads and is a short one mile to the lake. It comes to a little pass of sorts and drops down into the basin where the lake is. The lake has two access points via trail. It's a smaller lake, surrounded by trees on three sides, but is open on the northern side with a large beach. The trail continues on north to the auto campground which is the other more popular access.
The lesser traveled trail starts out at the visitor's center and follows the Akamina Parkway in the Cameron Creek drainage about four miles until it meets up with the spur trail that goes to the Akamina Parkway trailhead. This can be one big long loop if you take the Blakiston Creek trail from the Crandell auto campground as it loops back to the visitor's center.
The trek is a primarily a treed walk, but not suffocatingly so. There are many views that pop out from time to time and the lake is a nice stop along the way. It's a very nice trail for birding but, because of the lack of more open meadows and views, I wouldn't expect to see too many larger animals.

Wildfires and Wildlife in Waterton Lakes National Park // Pre-Season Episode 10
This week we bring you along to Waterton Lakes National Park as we explore southern Alberta, the town of Waterton, and survey the damage caused by the forest fire of 2017. We were really awe-inspired to see that the park has so much devastation and damage from the fire; yet a serene beauty is being revealed under the charred trees and ash-covered ground as the forest begins to regenerate.

Virtual Tour: Lake Louise Lakeside with Tourist Tips, Banff, Alberta, Canada

This is an informational and somewhat scenic shoreline walk alongside Lake Louise. Information and trivia is included for those considering going there. Filmed in September 2019 but also in month of June (later part of video).

Moraine Lake (in my humble opinion Moraine Lake - 14 miles from Louise - is more beautiful to see)....Louise is promoted more that Moraine due to the vast more $$$$ put into the Chateau hotel.

Bear in Waterton Lakes National Park
Owner's Description:
We are a family of 4 from Germany and together with a Canadian friend of our son from Ottawa we were on a trip from Billings, MT via Mt. Rushmore SD, Regina SK, Calgary AL, Waterton Lakes National Park AL, Glacier National Park and Yellowstone Park back to Billings, MT. We expected to see a lot of Wildlife and Nature all over the place, what of course, happened big time - but we only saw one single bear - in Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada - thanks!. In the movie the bear you see didn't dare to walk over the street near a visitor center in the park, because he heard dog barks from inside the van just in front of us. Eventually he dared to run through the cars on our side back into the forest. We still waited to see a mama bear, probably searching angrily for the baby bear, but to see a big mama bear, this might have to wait until our next visit at Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada.

Hiking in bear country: Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park
outdoortravelchannel.tv - Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park provides a peaceful home for species such as grizzly bears (Ursus arctos) and black bears (Ursus americanus), and it offers wonderful hiking opportunities for humans, for example, the hike to Avalanche Lake, featured in this video.
When hiking in bear country such as this,
- make noise (call out, clap, sing) to avoid surprising bears
- avoid hiking alone
- carry bear spray (and know how to use it)
- never approach a bear
- know the difference between grizzly bears and black bears and how to respond to each
For information on these parks, visit and
Also check out Glacier National Park's information on proper visitor behaviour in bear country:
The manager at Glacier Guides Lodge ( in West Glacier was kind enough to loan us bear spray during our stay, and the nearby Glacier Guides office sold us the same spray for a very reasonable price ($27) when we moved on.

Into Waterton National Park
This is a video of the drive from the Park Gate to the Tourist Information Center on the edge of town. I've always been impressed by this drive. The lakes, the mountains coming closer until you are right under them. Waterton is a great park to visit even if it is small. You can also hear Aria doing her commentary from the back seat.
