Le Corbusier Weissenhof Stuttgart
Le Corbusier double house at Weissenhof Stuttgart - 1927
Two residential units in Stuttgart designed by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret have in 2016 added to UNESCO's World Heritage List along with 16 other projects by the famed French-Swiss architect. The worker's housing units were built as part of a 1927 exhibition on Modernist housing. The city of Stuttgart entrusted architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe with the project's oversight. Overall, the estate encompassed the work of 17 different architects. The 21 buildings they designed comprised a total of 60 dwellings. Le Corbusier and Jeanneret designed a two-family house, which still features prominently in the complex. Many of Le Corbusier's Five Points on Architecture can be observed in this project. The most visible example is its main facade, which features a horizontal strip window that runs the length of the building. Steel pilotis hold up the upper portion of the residence, which juts out towards the street. The flat roof accommodates a terrace that is partially sheltered by a concrete canopy above it. Like most of the buildings that were showcased, Le Corbusier and Jeanneret's house had bare, monochrome facades. The experimental housing produced in the exhibition was a benchmark for the development of the rapidly forming International Style. Many of the buildings were unfortunately demolished during the second world war, Le Corbusier and Jeanneret's structure was purchased in 2002 by the City of Stuttgart to be preserved.
Weissenhof Siedlung Stuttgart
Weissenhof Settlement Stuttgart
The Weissenhofsiedlung is considered one of the most important monuments of the Neues Bauen movement. It was created in 1927 as a building exhibition of Deutsche Werkbund and was funded by the City of Stuttgart. Despite significant destruction during World War II, the ensemble of buildings today represents highly valued cultural heritage of the 20th century with early works of architects who shaped modern architecture. In some special way, Weissenhofsiedlung represents the social, aesthetic and technological changes following the end of World War I. Using the programmatic title Die Wohnung (The Housing), this Werkbund exposition demonstrated the renunciation from habitats characterized by pre-industrial periods. In these 33 houses with 63 apartments, a total of 17 architects from Germany, France, Holland, Belgium and Austria formulated their solutions for living arrangements of the modern big city dweller, coupled with the use and implementation of new building materials and effective construction methods. As part of this novel and overall urban concept, typical buildings for cost-effective mass production were created but also buildings of great architectural variety.

Places to see in ( Stuttgart - Germany )
Places to see in ( Stuttgart - Germany )
Stuttgart, capital of southwest Germany’s Baden-Württemberg state, is known as a manufacturing hub. Mercedes-Benz and Porsche have headquarters and museums here. The city is filled with greenspaces, which wrap around its center. Popular parks include the Schlossgarten, Rosensteinpark and Killesbergpark. Wilhelma, one of the largest zoos and botanical gardens in Europe, is just northeast of Rosenstein Castle.
Stuttgart is the capital and largest city of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located on the Neckar river in a fertile valley locally known as the Stuttgart Cauldron an hour from the Swabian Jura and the Black Forest. Stuttgart is also a transport junction, and possesses the sixth-largest airport in Germany. Such companies as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG, Dinkelacker, and others are headquartered there. Stuttgart is unusual in the scheme of German cities. It is spread across a variety of hills (some of them covered in vineyards), valleys (especially around the Neckar river and the Stuttgart basin) and parks. This is often a source of surprise to visitors who associate the city with its reputation as the cradle of the automobile. The city's tourism slogan is Stuttgart offers more.
The Stuttgart area is known for its high-tech industry. Some of its most prominent companies include Daimler AG, Porsche, Bosch, Celesio, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sika – all of whom have their world or European headquarters here. Stuttgart is home to Germany's ninth biggest exhibition center, Stuttgart Trade Fair which lies on the city outskirts next to Stuttgart Airport. Hundreds of SMEs are still based in Stuttgart (often termed Mittelstand), many still in family ownership with strong ties to the automotive, electronics, engineering and high-tech industry.
Stuttgart has a light rail system known as the Stuttgart Stadtbahn. In the city center and densely built-up areas, the Stadtbahn runs underground. Stuttgart is a hub in the InterCityExpress and InterCity networks of Deutsche Bahn AG (DBAG), with through services to most other major German cities. Stuttgart is served by Stuttgart Airport (German: Flughafen Stuttgart, IATA airport code STR), an international airport approximately 13 km (8 mi) south of the city centre on land belonging mainly to neighboring towns. Stuttgart has an inland port in Hedelfingen on the Neckar. Stuttgart is served by Autobahn A8, that runs east-west from Karlsruhe to Munich, and Autobahn A81 that runs north-south from Würzburg to Singen. The Autobahn A831 is a short spur entering the southern side of Stuttgart.

Haus am Horn Weimar
The Haus am Horn was built for the Bauhaus exhibition of July through September 1923 based on designs by Georg Muche, a painter and a teacher at the Bauhaus.
Originally, Walter Gropius, head of the Bauhaus had planned to design it himself, but his designs fell through when he asked his students for their opinion. They instead supported Muche's design. Gropius agreed and had his private architecture firm turn them into blueprints. The actual construction was overseen by Adolf Meyer and financed by Adolf Sommerfeld, a Berlin investor and real estate developer, for whom Gropius had built an expressionist villa at Berlin-Lichterfelde in the early 1920s. Despite the difficult economic environment (see Hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic), Sommerfeld made a significant financial contribution. For this, he was awarded ownership of the property once the Werkschau was over.
The house was built away from the main section of the Bauhaus, on land that was being used as a vegetable garden for the school. Other Bauhaus instructors assisted with the technical aspects of the house's design. Gropius stated that the goal of the house's construction was the greatest comfort with the greatest economy by the application of the best craftsmanship and the best distribution of space in form, size, and articulation. László Moholy-Nagy designed the lights and they were made in the Bauhaus metal workshop; Marcel Breuer, a student at the time, designed the furniture, including the built-in cabinetry. The kitchen was furnished by Theodor Bogler. The Bauhaus Werksaustellung of summer 1923 was a cause of much admiration but also of controversy. Criticism was aimed at Gropius personally and in 1924 he moved the Bauhaus school to Dessau in Saxony-Anhalt. For a year, the Haus stood empty. Sommerfeld took out the furnishings and advertised the house for sale. In the fall of 1924, it was purchased by lawyer Franz Kühn. He added a garage and several small additions. In the late 1930s he was forced to sell the property by the Nazi authorities. With the end of World War II the town administered the property. In the early 1950s under communist rule it was transferred into Volkseigentum (public property). Several families were housed here and it fell into disrepair until people who lived there from 1971 until the late 1990s undertook its repair on their own. In 1996, it was declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bauhaus and its Sites in Weimar and Dessau. Renovation work followed. Additions and garages were demolished and the aim was to restore the original appearance in 1923.
