West Point accident- Cadet killed, 22 injured in vehicle crash (Video) By Any Articles News
A West Point cadet was killed and 22 others were wounded when an armored military personnel vehicle overturned and plummeted at least 15 feet down a hill near a training site at the prestigious military academy Thursday morning, officials and sources said.
The chaotic incident unfolded at about 6:45 a.m. when a 2.5-ton capacity Light Medium Tactical Vehicle carrying the crew for summer training flipped over on a dirt road off Route 293 near the Camp Natural Bridge training site, the US Military Academy tweeted.
Law enforcement sources said the vehicle was going up a steep section when it rolled over and dropped about 15 to 20 feet down an embankment, landing on rocks.
The cadets “were involved in a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. off Route 293,” the US Military Academy tweeted, without elaborating on the details of the accident.
The injured — who included two soldiers — were transported to three local hospitals, according to officials and sources.
Two of the wounded suffered serious injuries, sources said. The identity of the cadet who died was not immediately released.
The academy tweeted that “details of the incident are under investigation.”
In another tweet, the academy said: “West Point officials thank local and state emergency responders for their assistance on the scene.”
Camp Natural Bridge is a site where summer training takes place.
“My heart breaks for all those involved in the tragic training accident at West Point this morning,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
“These courageous cadets and soldiers represent the best of New York state and our country, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their bravery in choosing to serve our country and protect our freedoms.”
The governor continued: “This incident is made all the more heart-wrenching as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day today, a day where we remember those who gave their lives for our country.” #westPoint, #local, #news

Driving Downtown - Ft Lauderdale Beach 4K - USA
Beach Town Driving - Fort Lauderdale Beach Florida USA - Episode 6.
Starting Point: .
Fort Lauderdale (frequently abbreviated as Ft. Lauderdale) is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, 28 miles (45 km) north of Miami.
The city is a popular tourist destination, with an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C), and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. Greater Fort Lauderdale which takes in all of Broward County hosted 12 million visitors in 2012, including 2.8 million international visitors. The city and county in 2012 collected $43.9 million from the 5% bed tax it charges, after hotels in the area recorded an occupancy rate for the year of 72.7 percent and an average daily rate of $114.48. The district has 561 hotels and motels comprising nearly 35,000 rooms. Forty six cruise ships sailed from Port Everglades in 2012. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts.
Economy
Fort Lauderdale's economy has diversified over time. From the 1940s through the 1980s, the city was known as a spring break destination for college students. However, the college crowd has since dwindled, with the city now attracting wealthier tourists. Cruise ships and nautical recreation provide the basis for much of the revenue raised by tourism. There is a convention center located west of the beach and southeast of downtown, with 600,000 square feet (55,742 m2) of space, including a 200,000-square-foot (18,581 m2) main exhibit hall. Approximately 30% of the city's 10 million annual visitors attend conventions at the center.
The downtown area, especially around Las Olas Boulevard, first underwent redevelopment starting in 2002 and now hosts many new hotels and high-rise condominium developments. The downtown area is the largest in Broward County, although there are other cities in the county with commercial centers. Office buildings and highrises include Las Olas River House, Las Olas Grand, 110 Tower (formerly AutoNation Tower), Bank of America Plaza, One Financial Plaza, Broward Financial Center, One East Broward Boulevard, Barnett Bank Plaza, PNC Center, New River Center, One Corporate Center, SunTrust Centre, 101 Tower, and SouthTrust Tower.
The Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area foreclosures increased 127.4% from 2006 to 2007, or one filing per 48 households in the quarter. Fort Lauderdale ranks fourth in the list of top 10 metropolitan areas ranked by foreclosure filings per household for the third quarter of 2007.
Fort Lauderdale is a major manufacturing and maintenance center for yachts. The boating industry is responsible for over 109,000 jobs in the county. With its many canals, and proximity to the Bahamas and Caribbean, it is also a popular yachting vacation stop, and home port for 42,000 boats, and approximately 100 marinas and boatyards. Additionally, the annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the world's largest boat show, brings over 125,000 people to the city each year.
Companies based in the Fort Lauderdale area include AutoNation, Citrix Systems, DHL Express, Spirit Airlines, and National Beverage Corporation. The largest employers in the county are Tenet Healthcare, which employs 5,000 people; American Express, which employs 4,200; The Continental Group, which employs 3,900; Motorola, which employs 3,000, and Maxim Integrated Products, which employs 2,000.
Gulfstream International Airlines, a commuter airline, is headquartered in nearby Dania Beach. An Online Trading Academy center is also located in the city.
Lifestyle
As is true of many parts of Florida, the city's population has a strong seasonal variation, as snowbirds from the northern United States, Canada, and Europe north spend the winter and early spring in Florida. The city is also sometimes referred to as Fort Liquordale because of its beaches, bars, nightclubs, and history as a spring break location, back in the 1960s and 1970s, for tens of thousands of college students. However, the city has actively discouraged college students from visiting the area since the mid-1980s, passing strict laws aimed at preventing the mayhem that regularly occurred each year in the 1970's and 1980's. The city had an estimated 350,000 college visitors for spring break 1985; by 2006, that number had declined to about 10,000. Since the 1990's, Fort Lauderdale has increasingly become a location that caters to those seeking the resort lifestyle seasonally or year round and is often a host city to many professional venues, concerts, and art shows.

Villages at Huntington - a gated community in Melville, NY www.LIPREALTY.com
Gated Community in Melville, NY - Villages at Huntington. This was filmed in 2007.
Melville Homes for Sale - - (631) 482-7052- Hector Gavilla - 4 Bedroom Bennington Colonial in the Villages at Huntington, in Half Hollow Hills School District #5. Sunquam Elementary School. Half Hollow Hills East High School. This is one of several private, gated communities in Melville. The Villages at Huntington is very close to Dix Hills and is located on Long Island. The home in a private gated community in Melville is listed with Hector Gavilla from LIP Realty Melville, New York. Call Hector Gavilla (631) 482-7052
Melville is a hamlet and is part of the town of Huntington in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York, in the United States.
It is directly east of Nassau County border. The Long Island Expressway (LIE) and Northern State Parkway, two of the country's busiest highways and major points of entry in and out of New York City, pass through Melville. Melville is located immediately off of Exit 49 of the LIE. New York State Route 110 runs through the center of Melville.
The area was known to the native Americans as Sunsquams. In the 17th century it was known as Samuel Ketcham's Valley, named for a local resident. Afterwards it was known as Sweet Hollow. This name was replaced by Melville in school records in 1854. There is some debate as to the origin of the Melville name. It may be derived from the Latin for honey. (the area had an abundance of honey bees and this may have also been the origin of the previous Sweet Hollow name). It should also be noted that the author Herman Melville was being published around this time.
A Presbyterian church was built in Melville in 1829 at the northeast corner of Old Country and Sweet Hollow Roads. In 1977 the church was moved 1-mile (1.6 km) to the West. The church was in continuous use until 1930. It reopened in 1944 for the funeral of Edward Baylis and has been in use since then.
In 1909 a trolley line to Huntington was established. This was an extension of the Huntington Trolley Spur and went as far south as Amityville and had a connection to Babylon. There were six fare zones, one of which was the Duryea Farm at Melville. The line was shut down a decade later after farmers complained that noise from the trolley frightened their animals. Buses provided transportation after the trolley line closed. The growing use of private cars also reduced demand for the trolley line.
In May of 2011, construction commenced for the replacement of the Northern State Parkway bridge over Route 110. The original bridge is 63 years old. The project was budgeted for $56,000,000 and is expected to be completed in winter of 2013 and 2014.
Long Island's tallest point is Jayne's Hill near Melville, with an elevation of 400.9 feet (122.2 m) above sea level.
