Owensboro, Kentucky, in Daviess county, is 80 miles SW of Louisville, Kentucky. The city is home to some 54,067 residents. Owensboro was first settled in the year 1797. It was initially known as Yellowbanks which referred to the color of the sand on the banks of River Ohio. The first general store of the area was opened in 1810 by David Morton and this led to a gradual growth in the population. The city was incorporated as Owensborough in 1817 by the Kentucky Legislature. It was later shortened to Owensboro. In terms of population, industrial growth, and culture it is the state’s third largest city. V isitors to the city can take a trip to Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History, Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, and Western Kentucky Botanical Garden. Recreational facilities are also offered by the various local parks. Some of these include the Douglas Park, Seventh Street Park, Legion Park, and Chautauqua Park. Charles E. Bracker Orchid Photographs
The Charles E. Bracker Orchid Photographs digital collection in the Ball State University Digital Media Repository features photographs taken by Dr. Charles E. Bracker, professor of botany and plant pathology at Purdue University from 1964 to 1999.
Dr. Bracker took nearly 30,000 digital photographs of orchids, a selection of which are featured in this digital collection. Prints of many of the photographs, along with the entire collection of digital images were donated by Dr. Bracker to Archives and Special Collections of the Ball State University Libraries in 2009.

Worcester ( (listen) WUUS-tər) is a city in, and the county seat of, Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. Named after Worcester, England, as of the 2010 Census the city's population was 181,045, making it the second most populous city in New England after Boston. Worcester is located approximately 40 miles (64 km) west of Boston, 50 miles (80 km) east of Springfield and 40 miles (64 km) north of Providence.
