USA: NEW YORK: INTERNET WORLD TRADE SHOW
Natural Sound
A week-long trade show dedicated to the internet began in New York City on Wednesday featuring hundreds of displays with some of the latest advances in computer internet technology.
The show featured widely recognised companies such as Microsoft and America Online, but also included smaller organisations promoting a wide range of the latest possibilities in modern computing.
At the Jacob Javits Exhibition Centre in New York City the Internet World trade show got underway.
Hundreds of people went to see the latest in internet technology from graphics software, data-transmission and even more advances on voice-recognition computer systems.
Many punters were pleased to see systems for improving internet searching.
Most of the technologies on display have been aimed at business applications rather than consumer use.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Here at the floor of the show you'll see a lot of technologies for the business internet. It's not a consumer show, as much as it's a show for the people who are executives in companies that have to do with the internet
SUPERCAPTION: Jack Powers, Conference Chairman for Internet World
One of the newer technologies at the show is a software system that allows the user to give voice commands to an internet browser.
The user can instruct the computer to find various sites on the net, such as a weather forecast for a particular city, in the same way that you might ask a person to go and find something.
UPSOUND - talking computer
The computer replies when it is searching, and then displays the information on the screen.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
What you're watching on the screen behind me is Ivan. Ivan is an intelligent voice-animated navigator, and he allows us to surf and search the Web by just talking to him like you would with a best friend. You can ask Ivan to find recipes, stock prices, news, whatever you want.
SUPERCAPTION: Mark Strumwasser, Vice President for Sales, One-Voice Technologies
Another rather novel exhibitor, DigiScents, provided the latest in iSmell technology.
Offering more lifelike and memorable experiences, the computer displayed scented websites, and even e-mails, available from the software application and a special box to dispense the scents.
BodyMedia has developed fashionable, wearable, health monitors that sense and record body statistics.
These monitors, combined with the BodyMedia web site, form a system that helps people to define, maintain and monitor their own personal healthy lifestyle.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's an arm band that has built-in sensors, that track various body statistics an on-board computer. Then that information is wirelessly transmitted to our website, where it's displayed in a usable form on the health manager to help you track every day your progress in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
SUPERCAPTION: Craig Lidon, Chief Medical Officer, Body Media
Every imaginable ingredient for a wildly successful website is on display for the remainder of the week.
Soon you could be able to scan a photograph of yourself on to the Web and initiate a search for any other person who looks like you.
And with a click of your mouse, you might just be able to wake up and smell the coffee.

On March 26, 2009, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) confirmed that the building would be officially known by its legal name of One World Trade Center, rather than its colloquial name of Freedom Tower. The building is 104 standard floors high, but the tower has only 94 actual stories.
The new World Trade Center complex will eventually include five high-rise office buildings built along Greenwich Street, as well as the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located just south of One World Trade Center where the original Twin Towers stood. The construction of the new building is part of an effort to memorialize and rebuild following the destruction of the original World Trade Center complex.

New York City video tour of Brookfield Place 4K
Located directly across from One World Trade Center (Liberty Tower), Brookfield Place is an up-scale shopping and restaurant/bar complex. The original complex was heavily damaged on 9/11. Everything was carefully reconstructed to look just like the original down to the details such as the palm trees in the main court. The complex attracts many Financial District workers during lunch and after work. Others, including tourists, keep the complex busy on the week-ends. I hope you enjoy the video. I Love New York City - One World Trade Center
Construction of below-ground utility relocations, footings, and foundations for the new building began on April 27, 2006. On March 30, 2009, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed that the building would be officially known by its legal name of One World Trade Center, rather than its colloquial name of Freedom Tower. The building is 104 standard floors high, but the tower has only 94 actual stories.
One World Trade Center became the tallest structure in New York City on April 30, 2012, when it surpassed the height of the Empire State Building. The tower's steel structure was topped out on August 30, 2012. On May 10, 2013, the final component of the skyscraper's spire was installed, making the building, including its spire, reach a total height of 1,776 feet (541 m). Its height in feet is a deliberate reference to the year when the United States Declaration of Independence was signed. The building opened on November 3, 2014. The new World Trade Center complex will initially include three other high-rise office buildings, which will be built along Greenwich Street, and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located just south of One World Trade Center, where the original Twin Towers stood. The construction of the new building is part of an effort to memorialize and rebuild following the destruction of the original World Trade Center complex
One World Trade Center's top floor is officially designated as floor 104. The building has 86 usable above-ground floors, of which 78 will be used for office purposes (approximately 2,600,000 square feet, or 240,000 square meters). The base consists of floors 1–19, including a 65-foot-high (20 m) public lobby. The office floors begin at floor 20, and go up to floor 63. There is a sky lobby on floor 64; office floors resume on floor 65, and stop at floor 90. Floors 91–99 and 103–104 are mechanical floors.
Tourist look towards the state of New Jersey from One World Observatory.
The tower has a three-story observation deck, located on floors 100–102, in addition to existing broadcast and antenna facilities. Similar to in the Empire State Building, visitors will be separated from the tenants, having their own separate entrance next to the museum, descending down to a below-ground security screening area. On the observation deck, the actual viewing space is on the 100th floor, but there will be a food court on the 101st floor and a space for events for the 102nd floor. To show visitors the city, and give them information and stories about New York, an interactive tool called City Pulse is used by Tour Ambassadors. The admission fee will be $32 per person, but admission discounts are available for children and seniors, and the deck will be free for 9/11 responders and families of 9/11 victims. When it opens, the deck is expected to have about 3.5 million visitors per year.Tickets went on sale starting on April 8. However, the Manhattan District Attorney probed the Port Authority about the firm to which it awarded a contract to operate the deck. It officially opened on May 28, 2015, one day ahead of schedule.
The tenants have access to below-ground parking, storage, and shopping; access to PATH, New York City Subway trains, and the World Financial Center is also provided at the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, Fulton Street/Fulton Center, Chambers Street, and Cortlandt Street stations. The building allows direct access to West Street, Vesey Street, and Fulton Street at ground level. The building has an approximate underground footprint of 42,000 square feet (3,900 m2), of which 55,000 square feet (5,100 m2) is retail space. A plan to build a restaurant near the top of the tower, similar to the original One World Trade Center's Windows on the World, was abandoned as logistically impractical. The tower's window-washing tracks are located on a 16-square-foot area, which will be designated as floor 110 as a symbolic reference to the 110 floors of the original tower.

JOHN LEGEND HELPS LAUNCH NEW SHOPPING CENTER AT SITE OF WORLD TRADE CENTER
John Legend kicked off the reopening of the new World Trade Center mall in New York Tuesday (16 AUG. 2016) with a free concert.
I've lived in New York for a very long time. I was here back in 2001 and we know what the city went through, Legend told the crowd gathered to listen to him perform. But we're stronger than all of that. We're strong enough to recover together, to love each other, and to rebuild. And we're excited to celebrate this rebuilding right here, this new structure right here and to celebrate the spirit of this great city and this great country.
The reopening of the mall reflects how much lower Manhattan has changed since the 9/11 attacks. It has three times the number of residents and millions of tourists visit every year.
The design of the mall features a 160-foot-tall Oculus building, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. It's intended to represent the image of a dove being released from a child's hands.

Holiday Shopping in Queens Mall, Christmas Time in New York City
Holiday Shopping in Queens Mall, Christmas Time in New York City
Queens Center Mall is an urban shopping mall in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, New York City, United States. Queens Center Mall is the largest mall in Queens. Queens Center opened on September 12, 1973, on land previously occupied by a children's amusement park, a supermarket, and automobile parking. The mall underwent a major expansion from 2002 to 2004, nearly doubling in size as the original mall was renovated and another wing was added across a local street.
Queens is the easternmost and largest in area of the five boroughs of New York City. It is geographically adjacent to the borough of Brooklyn at the southwestern end of Long Island and to Nassau County farther east on Long Island; in addition, Queens shares water borders with the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx. Coterminous with Queens County since 1899, the borough of Queens is the second-largest in population (after Brooklyn), with a census-estimated 2,358,582 residents in 2017, approximately 48% of them foreign-born. Queens County also is the second-most populous county in the U.S. state of New York, behind the neighboring borough of Brooklyn, which is coterminous with Kings County. Queens is the fourth-most densely populated county among New York City's boroughs, as well as in the United States. If each of New York City's boroughs were an independent city, Queens also would be the nation's fourth most populous, after Los Angeles in California, Chicago in Illinois and Brooklyn. Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world.

This article is about the supertall skyscraper in New York City. For the building complex destroyed in the September 11 attacks, see World Trade Center. For the building in Long Beach, California, see One World Trade Center (Long Beach).
One World Trade Center, abbreviated as 1 WTC and sometimes called by its previous name Freedom Tower, is the lead building of the new World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The 104-story supertall skyscraper is being constructed in the northwest corner of the 16-acre World Trade Center site, occupying the location where the original 8-story 6 World Trade Center once stood. The building is bounded to the west by West Street, to the north by Vesey Street, to the south by Fulton Street, and to the east by Washington Street. Construction on below-ground utility relocations, footings, and foundations for the building began on April 27, 2006.[10] The tower's steel structure topped-out on August 30, 2012,[2] and work is currently underway on its spire.[3]
At the time of its completion in late 2013, One World Trade Center will be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and the third-tallest building in the world by pinnacle height, with its spire reaching a symbolic 1,776 feet (541.3 m) in reference to the year of American independence.[11][12] It has been the tallest building in New York City since April 30, 2012.[13][14] On March 30, 2009, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed that the building would be known by its legal name of One World Trade Center, rather than the colloquial name, Freedom Tower. The new World Trade Center complex will also feature three other high-rise office buildings, located along Greenwich Street, and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located just south of One World Trade Center, where the Twin Towers once stood. The construction is part of an effort to memorialize and rebuild following the destruction of the original World Trade Center complex during the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
