** EXPECT STROBE LIGHTS AND FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY **
This video diary documents Whirl-Y-Gig's final night at Jacks, Crucifix Lane, and our celebration of the New Year.
As a member of the Whirly dècor crew I take you 'behind the scenes' to raise awareness of how much of love and effort is put into running this monthly event. From the moment I wake up all the way through to when my head hits the pillow again, I present to you a different perspective of what is known as an indescribable event.

Whirl-Y-Fayre - How To Create A Family-Friendly Festival
Mary describes the Whirl-Y-Fayre, now in its fourth year, held in August in beautiful Somerset.
This event won a prestigious award from the readers of Green Parents magazine, 2016, after a competition to find the best family-friendly festival. So if you’re thinking about creating a similar event, watch this clip, and take notes.
When Whirl-Y-Gig won, Mary asked for feedback as to why Whirl-Y-Fayre won this award. She uses the this to describe the basic elements of creating a space where parents and their kids can safely enjoy the magic of the festival experience.
Firstly, there needs to be a strong feeling of community and acceptance. Secondly, people need to be able to able to connect. Thirdly, children's’ activities are very well - but to really impact, they need to be part of a broader, more magical sense that the fayre itself is a child-centred place of relaxation, fun, safety - and magic.
Creating the necessary conditions for these elements to spring to life requires a meticulous planning and strong leadership - of that, Mary the Faery will share more later.
Meanwhile, experience the magic for yourself - get down to the Whirl-Y-Fayre: - starts on Friday 19th August-Sunday 21st August 2016 - most people arrive on the Thursday, and leave on the Monday. Unless they’ve decided to live with the Fae permanently, of course.

Spotlights is a bi-monthly short film night run by Whirlygig Cinema that offers new and established filmmakers the chance to screen a portfolio of work in front of a live audience. Each event features films and talks by three filmmakers, providing a gripping insight into their work whilst traversing a range of styles and genres.
Screening in the cosy basement bar of Trangallan Restaurant in Newington Green, Spotlights is fast becoming a regular meeting place for filmmakers and film-lovers, showcasing hand-picked film talent in a relaxed and intimate environment.
In a special collaboration with LSFF, Whirlygig Cinema will take over Trangallan for three nights to welcome filmmakers who worked on the nine films that have won the festival over the course of its decade-long history. Directors, cinematographers and other film creatives will showcase these films within the context of their own work and at the end of each night there will a chance to ask them questions in a Q&A.
On Wednesday, we welcome the following LSFF winners:
Jes Benstock -- director of ORDERS OF LOVE (Winner of LSFF 2005)
Chris Allen -- director of IN PASSING (Winner of LSFF 2006)
David Liddell -- cinematographer for PARIS/SEXY (Dir. Ruth Paxton. Winner of LSFF 2011

Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You said you want to go,
When I saw you yesterday
But now you're saying no,
Cause you couldn't find a date.
I said C'mon now!
I'll help you find one man
She said she'd love to!
And you know that can't be bad
But now you're thinking Oh!
I don't really know, the theme
Please don't worry though,
When you know you're gonna scream
I yelled it's England!
An Evening in London,
That's why I'm singing,
This song by a British band
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
With a theme like that,
You know you should be glad
On February Ninth,
That's when this dance takes place.
And we the GERMAN Club,
Would love to see your face.
We want to host you,
You could say that it's our thang
Tickets are 5 bucks
For a dance that's not too bad
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
Midwinters yeah, yeah, yeah
With a theme like that,
You know you should be glad.
Tickets are 5 dollars,
For a dance that's not too bad
To have a blast like that,
We know you will leave glad
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
