London walk: St James's Park on a summer's evening, via St James's Square, Pall Mall and The Mall
St James’s Park on a summer’s evening with the sun starting to set is the focus of this walk. I start at Piccadilly Arcade making my way along Jermyn Street and then past Christie’s to arrive at St James’s Square (the gardens were closed by the time I arrived). From there I headed down to Pall Mall, the route of a previous walk I had done in the winter, and onto Waterloo Place before crossing The Mall into St James’s Park. Everyone was out enjoying the August sunshine as it started setting providing shadowy views across St James’s Park Lake across to Buckingham Palace from the vantage point of Duck Island Cottage. With Horse Guards Parade to my left and Birdcage Walk to my right, I passed the Churchill War Rooms and headed towards HM Treasury before turning into Birdcage Walk ending the walk at Westminster and Big Ben all covered in scaffolding. At the end of the video, I have included a couple of extra sections – one of the view from Westminster Bridge along the Thames towards the London Eye and the other taking a very quick peek inside Fortnum and Mason. Finally, if you look carefully to the right around 15:40 in St James's Park, you will see some pretty impressive gymnastic moves.

My equipment
DJI Osmo Pocket.
Honestly I’m not that happy with the footage I shot for this video, I seem to be back to my old habits of moving the camera too much. I thought the Pocket had put an end to that, so I’m not quite sure why it came out super-swingy. I’ll try harder next time; I find I work better with the Pocket attached to a phone, so will go back to that again.

CZECH REPUBLIC: PRAGUE: RIOTING AFTERMATH
English/Nat
XFA
The streets of Prague were quiet early on Wednesday after anti-capitalism rioters went on a rampage on Tuesday night that injured dozens and damaged property.
Most of the damage occurred in the famous Wenceslas Square, where obvious symbols of globalisation, such as McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets were targetted.
The protests were planned to coincide with the annual meeting of the I-M-F and World Bank leaders. Wary police were on guard outside the summit and elsewhere.
But many of the 5-thousand activists who marched through the streets the night before had left town.
They had succeeded in their goal of overshadowing the summit and had even briefly trapped delegates inside the communist-era convention centre venue for the financial leaders' meeting.
Activists from the umbrella protest organising group, the Initiative Against Economic Globalisation, called their demonstration a success, even though the number of activists fell far short of the 20-thousand they had predicted.
But locals were disgusted by the violence and damage.
SOUNDBITE: (English) NOT VERBATIM
It's terrible, everything that you see here. For us it's terrible because I can't understand why the young people would do something like this.
SUPER CAPTION: Tom Weber, Mercedes Benz employee
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I think it's a small bunch travelling around like football hooligans and doing this. It's not representative of the ones who actually have opinions. That's what I think.
SUPER CAPTION: Vox Pop
There were no new demonstrations scheduled for Wednesday, but there were still plenty of anarchists in town, and police said that could mean trouble.
Early in the morning about 150 activists had gathered in Namesti Square, but they were staying calm.
Police were checking their identification papers and detained at least five of them.
But a spokesman from the Czechoslovak Anarchist Association sought to play down any concerns of renewed troubles and said that violence would be avoided, although not ruled out.
The I-M-F and World Bank have become favorite targets in recent years for activists who want to curb the power of the Washington-based international lenders.
They are part of a growing movement of discontentment over the globalised economy, which activists say harms ordinary workers and the environment.
