Camping in Northern Michigan
I went camping in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the weekend. It was a fun time. I camped on Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful camp site. I had a great time. Ijust wish I would have had more time to see more things.

Michigan Shoreline Lighthouses
In this video of Michigan Lighthouse we go around the perimeter of the state starting with the east coast to the northern coast and down the west coast. We used a Phantom 4 Pro V2 which is available here We also used a goPro Hero 6 available here We mounted the Go Pro with Ram Mounts.
This is by no means a complete tour of lighthouses in Michigan as there are 124 remaining lighthouses. In this video we shot 10 of the 13 major lighthouses along the shoreline. We skipped Tthe two near Traverse City (Grand Traverse & Old Mission), simply because it was several miles up a island to get to them and did not have the time. We also skipped Grand Haven South Pierhead Inner Light because it was raining when we drove thorough there.
Although the video starts with a sunrise over the Mackinac Bridge, we started the tour of lighthouse on the south eastern coast in Port Huron, Fort Gratiot Lighthouse which as a 1829 military fort. On the drive up the coast between Fort Gratiot & Sturgeon Point was a great Mexicon Food Trailer, Tony's Tacos, Authentic Mexican Food, in Standish, MI. I highly reccomend stopping there, sure beats the typical fast food chains.
Some of our favorites were Big Sable Point & Little Sable Point, both over 100 feet and on the pristine part of the Beach. It is a 2 mile walk to Big Sable Point, as you'll see us in the video. Also the drive from Port Betsie to Big Sable Point was inpressive. Our GPS took us though some of the dirt roads of truly Pure Michigan. At times I wondered if my GPS was guiding me right, but it was. It was an enjoyable ride as you'll see my Toy Poodle, Bella enjoying the scenery as well.
We started and eneded with a sunset at Mackinaw City on the northern coast. We will be posting a separate video showing Mackinac City. This is a great area to spend a weekend, plenty of hotels. It has 2 lighthouses. The most impressive of the two lighthouses is Old Mackinac Point which is part of Historic Colonial Michilimackinac. The other Lighthouse in Mackinac City is McGulpin Point which was about 3 miles away from the main downtown area of Mackinac City, and kind of secluded in a forest.
The other Lighthouses on east coast we feature are 40 Mile Point Lighthouse in Rogers City and the New Presque Isle and Old Presque Isle Lighthouse. Currenlty the Old Presque Isle is not open to the public. The Sturgeon Point Lighthouse is very similiar to the New Presque Isle Lighthouse. The other we feature on the west coast, probably technically is not big enough to be considered a lighthouse is the Charlevoix South Pier Light Station.

SUMMARY
=======
The Upper Peninsula (UP), also known as Upper Michigan, is the northern of the two major peninsulas that make up the U.S. state of Michigan. The peninsula is bounded on the north by Lake Superior, on the east by the St. Marys River, on the southeast by Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and on the southwest by Wisconsin. Upper Peninsula counties also include nearby islands such as Grand, Drummond, Mackinac, and Bois Blanc, and more distant Isle Royale.
The Upper Peninsula contains 29% of the land area of Michigan but just 3% of its total population. Residents are frequently called Yoopers (derived from U.P.-ers) and have a strong regional identity. Large numbers of French Canadian, Finnish, Swedish, Cornish, and Italian immigrants came to the Upper Peninsula, especially the Keweenaw Peninsula, to work in the area's mines and lumber industry. The peninsula includes the only counties in the United States where a plurality of residents claim Finnish ancestry. The peninsula's largest cities are Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Escanaba, Menominee, Houghton, and Iron Mountain. The heavily forested land and long, harsh winters make it poorly suited for agriculture. The economy is based primarily on logging and tourism; mining was a major industry during a golden age from 1890 to 1920.

Michigan Upper Peninsula Road Trip Day 4
On day 4 of the trip we came across a cool waterfall on our way to the Porcupine Mountains. We had to stop for a look. There was a sign at THE BOTTOM that said the water could rise at any moment and we could drown. They really should put signs like that at the top. We had to take another route to the Porcupine Mountains because a bridge was out and we got a little lost because of the detour. It worked out though because we found an awesome beach at the Black River Harbor.
Our family decided to go on a road trip before school starts. We were not exactly sure where we were going or how long we would be gone when we started. We traveled along the west side of Michigan and all over Michigan's upper peninsula. The trip took us a week.
Our trip began in Romeo. We went to visit my father, that we haven't seen in a year, on our first day. We also made a stop at Lake Mitchell and the Pine River.
Video for day 1
Our second day was spent at Sleeping Bear Dunes and Good Harbor Bay. We even made an accidental stop at the state park on the Leelanau Peninsula. Unfortunately, the accident put us behind. We ended up sleeping in the car in the parking lot of Canyon Falls. It was too dark and rainy to put up the tent.
Video for day 2
Our third day we spent at King Lake near Canyon Falls in the upper peninsula. It was such a beautiful place. I was surprised that the locals had never been there and some of them never even heard of it. I saw an article on Facebook about about the falls that called it the Grand Canyon of Michigan and it was one of the reasons that I decided to take the trip in the first place.
