Shopping in Wuhan SBS 3D - Episode 1 - Wuhan Tiandi Shopping Center
Wuhan Tiandi, Hankou District, Wuhan City, a famous shopping center for wealthy tourists and Chinese nationals. I could make a new video every year on the same place because it's constantly evolving into something new. The center is succeeding in attracting the wealthiest owners by consistently raising rental fees for shops located there, so the earliest adopters are already gone and a new series of venues has opened there. I miss the Thai restaurant, it had the best food in Wuhan but now it's gone, a victim of the relentless quest for the perfect shop combination by Tiandi's corporate owners. I ate at the Thai shop all the time. And my first Christmas was in a bar called Franz that has now become the Brotzeit, an awesome fully authentic German restaurant with the best weiner schnitzels I've had since I lived in Germany in 1992 and '93. I wish I had had my 3D camera in Germany, my god, what a fantastic place that was! Wish I could go back there and film all my favorite places all over again with my W3 camera. Back to Wuhan, though... haha....
Wuhan Tiandi is a fun place for the average American who is used to the luxuries located there and make you feel at home. There is even a four-story German pub called Sissi (a play on the name Cici which is so famous and over used in China) & Franz . They flew in a veteran German beer maker to cook the food and the beer and they serve a large client base outside the restaurant by selling kegs of beer in old wood-cased mini barrels. The video's last few minutes are shown going upstairs and finally in the basement there is a bread shop that is part of the same bar overall but has its own dedicated look and feel separate from the upstairs German-looking part.
The theater in Wuhan Tiandi shows 3D movies and has several large screens but also some smaller screens, so you need to be careful about asking for the large screen, if it's in English or not. Sometimes it is, but often it's not, and you end up watching your English movie on a miniscule tiny screen that is just about as good as watching your home theater at home.
They have a frozen-ice drink store (not featured in the video, it's name is The Happy Lemon Plus) that has the best lemonade freeze drink I've ever tasted.
There is as Subway sandwich shop, and a donut shop with real American donuts (but they only produce 10 maple donuts per day, cheap skates), several ice cream shops selling American-made ice-creams and German ice creams. There are over half a dozen four and five star restaurants serving everything from Chinese to French to American styles. And there is a Vegan restaurant in the Chinese style that serves the best non-meat dishes I've ever eaten and that reminds, me, I forgot to film it! Argh. It's so beautiful in there. Why didn't I think of it until now?
Enjoy your 12-minute preview of the attractions, and then if you're in the area, go down and enjoy some of the cuisine! It's pretty awesome, if you find the right ones. I love the beer in the Brotzeit, its got a smooth banana-flavored German beer that blows my mind every time.
Hanjie Wanda Plaza -- Wuhan, China
Dazzling the most populous city in Central China, world renowned architecture practice UNStudio combines both contemporary and classical architectural elements in the design of Hanjie Wanda Plaza, a luxurious shopping mall with recognizable designer labels and expensive goods. The Plaza features a unique façade that is furnished with over 40,000 hand-crafted globes made of stainless steel and white alabaster, positioned in relation to each other. Enabled by the powerful e:cue control system, the iconic façade is transformed into glittering media façade, giving the impression that the globes are cascading like water or folding like a silk scarf in the wind. Accomplishing one of the major media façade attractions in China, the project is the epitome of highly flexible media façade system. Specially designed to easily output video content on LED media installations, 65 pieces of e:cue Video Micro Converter are selected to control and project nearly 80,000 pixels of media content over the massive façade measuring more than 22,000m2. In addition, the Patchelor tool in e:cue Lighting Application Suite allows the content designer to use a background picture for easy pixel mapping. The versatile software simplifies patching large matrix and fixture setup. The intelligent e:cue control system is able to integrate with 3rd party video server, making real-time video processing possible and enabling dual-layer video alignment and calibration of color reproduction. Traxon Technologies again demonstrated the superiority of its e:cue control system in glamourising the Hanjie Wanda Plaza project to bring a sparkle to the fast growing city of Wuhan.

Wuhan, the Chicago of China
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and is the most populous city in Central China (10 million people). It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. Arising out of the conglomeration of three cities, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as the nine provinces' leading thoroughfare; it is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city. Because of its key role in domestic transportation, Wuhan was sometimes referred to as the Chicago of China. It is recognized as the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational and transportation center of central China.
